Yes, that was an unnecessarily ugly thing to say. If I were Sloan, I'd have walked.
@SOLDIER1st_Class4 ай бұрын
@@stevechance150how was it unnecessary? It was warranted although maybe a bit blunt. If nobody trusts her as a reporter when they're coming to her as a source she has no value. Again it was harsh for Charlie to say but Don backing her up doesn't absolve her of what she did. Nor does it mean that she didn't do anything too bad Even though what she did was right morally. Sloan was protecting people and letting them know the size and magnitude of the radiation levels. But again Don was not absolving her of her mistake he was letting Charlie know that it was a mistake, and to let somebody go with as much potential as Sloan would be a mistake of his own. But it was not by all means unwarranted or unnecessary. If you screw up at your job know employers required to give you a second chance but the ones that do that see your potential and value are the good ones.

He is *such* a good actor! The way he leads into, "I don't give a shit Madam Butterfly!" - he has such physical presence in that moment. He's not acting it - he *is* doing it. Same with the 4-way meeting in the office just before Gabby Giffords story breaks. "Newscorp doesn't own TMI, we do. Wa....WAAAAAAIIIIIITTTTTTT!" He's not delivering lines - he lives in that world. And his facial expression at the end, when Sloan goes after him. He sort of leans back up, with a surprised - bemused - expression; as in "I like this girl, she can hold her own".

In principle Sloan was right - saving the lives of thousands of innocents is a much higher value than rules of reporting. She just should have said that she had a certain inside source who told about the level 7 - without naming Tanaka (which she did because she got heated up in the argument).
@derekmok8 жыл бұрын
+MisterBlueSky1000 > In principle Sloan was right - saving the lives of thousands of innocents is a much higher value than > rules of reporting. No, she was not. Because the rules are there for a reason. If the situation were different -- if she could actually physically stop a massacre by passing on a story -- then the choice might be different. Why shouldn't she have done what she did? What if the spokesman were wrong? What if Sloan were wrong about what he truly believed? He was her only source on this information, he had been speaking off the record, and he wasn't even speaking about the current radiation level -- they were talking about the *potential* rise to Level 7. You *cannot* change a spokesperson's official statement about a *possible future change* just because you believe that person may have doubts about the statement that were expressed off the record. In Season 2 of the show we see how important it is, with explosive stories, to get multiple confirmations. You do not declare your own national emergency based on your belief in one man's off-the-record remarks. Sloan basically burned her source and allowed herself to be unprofessional; she allowed her good intentions to drag her down. It'd be like saying, "Syrian refugees are suffering! Let's invade willy-nilly with no regard for consequences!" Trying to "save lives" this way often results in even more lives lost later.
