There's a reason why I own one of both his Hockey Fights Cancer and a game-used home jersey. He's the kind of guy that barely shows up on the scoresheet, but his team would struggle without. There's a reason why Coach K had him on the ice in the final minutes of the clinching game to preserve the win.

It's going to go down as the worst non-signs in team history. Man I wish we had him still. He wouldn't be as good in Toronto as he has been in Edmonton, but he'd still be worth that much easily. The chemistry he has found with McDavid has been unreal to see, hope he continues to thrive out there.

I think it was the Injuries honestly, he only played 43 games his last season in Toronto and 51 the year before that, but he did score 21 goals in those 51 games. He could've had Bertuzzis contract.

Hyman didn't have McDavid on his line with the Leafs. If the Oilers put him on a different line, he would still be good, but not great.

Because McDavid and Draisaitl are so visible, I think most people don't realize just how much the rest of this team improved compared to last year's playoffs, or how much deeper they are. The Oilers are deadly.

Exactly. The bottom six is playing very well and the defence and goaltending is nowhere near as bad as what people like to proclaim. I’m not saying they’re going to win a cup this year or anything, but the Oilers are indeed an elite team.

Also as a flames fan, I would want them out of anyone to win it. Realistically the Oilers are the only chance of the cup ever coming back to Alberta, so at the very least we would be a winning province. As much as I'd hate to hear it from Oilers fans till the end of time, that team deserves it, especially Mcdavid, Nuge & Drai.

People are saying Kings are a bad team, I disagree. But they certainly aren't cup worthy, like the Penguins, Capitals and Tampa; they have reached the end of their cycle as key players age and new talent enters their pool. Rebuilds are a part of any sport. The real problem for the Kings is that trade they made with the Jets I believe it was Dubois(?) for an 8.5 mil a year contract. That's going to hurt them.

Oilers look awesome. For all intents and purposes Woll had a shutout, but for .1 seconds. I know it doesn't count that way, but it was pretty impressive. As a Leafs fan, I was hoping all the Canadian teams would get through the first. It would be nice to have aa serious chance at bringing the cup to Canada

For Oilers fans old enough to remember they were on the other side of 3 straight first round series against the same team back in 1999-2001, losing all 3 against the Dallas Stars (who would make the Cup Finals twice and win it once during those 3 years). So don't worry, Kings fans, we know what you're feeling. We were there once before. You've got some good players on your roster, just need to find a way to unload Dubois for a good return.

It was actually 4 straight and 5 times in 6 seasons from 1998-2003, or 5 straight playoff appearances for the Oilers of getting dumped by Dallas... So we definitely get it, thank god for Todd Marchant and Curtis Joseph in '97 for at least making one of those a good memory.

@@devackroyd We beat them in the first round in 1997 before falling to Colorado in the next round, they (Dallas) beat us in the second round in 1998 after we beat Colorado in the first round, then in the first round 3 years in a row and 4 of the next 5.

Other than 1990 and perhaps ‘91 and 92, the rest of the 90s were rather rough. 1997 and ‘98 were fun though, and they did quite well for the roster and payroll they had versus their opponents.

What hurts the most about this season to me was that LA started out so promising for the first couple months NHL record for consecutive road wins to open the season up at the top of the standings points % wise then everything came crashing down in January… I still don’t fully understand how or why that collapse happened.

We got a head start in Australia. Kings were primed up while other teams were still working out preseason kinks. It wasn’t so much us as it was other teams not ready for our forecheck.

Dubois went from playing with All-Star caliber players on the top line and the top PP unit. On the Kings he played with scrubs and a revolving door at wing on the third line with getting only about 20 seconds of PP2 time and he was still top 10 in points on the Kings only behind the top 2 lines and Doughty. And instead of having him in front of the net they had him floating at the top of the circles. The coaching staff is to blame for mismanaging him. He was awesome when Danault was hurt and he filled in on the second line.

I saw him skate at full effort 1 time this season, in the final game of the playoffs. If they could inject him with a bit of Blake Lizotte tenacity, he would be unstoppable. Instead, most shifts are zero effort.

I'm a little scared not gonna lie. The Canucks had us on strings all season. Most of the games were before our sudden resurgence, but that April game showed us we still have a bit more work to do if we wanna beat the Canucks. The only thing we probably have over them right now is "playoff experience", never thought I'd say that after the last 15 odd years.

@@goat9295 experience is not going to go that far as the Oil do not have deep experience. Also the Nucks have Bleugar, Cole, and bubble playoff guys, and the soon-to-be Jack Adams Trophy winner to mentally set the Nucks. What the Oil have which can be scary for the Nucks is PP. However, the Preds had the 2nd best PP this year and were shut down the Nucks. The Nucks have a good balance of guns, the best 1-2 D tandem, and a hulking punishing defence. If Demko comes back, one of the best G in the world will be returning. However, the G depth has been astonishing so far,

Canucks have no chance with a third string goalie. Also the oilers power play is peaking. Canucks power play was killer in 2011 and they went to game seven of the Stanley cup finals. Hoping Canucks can stay out of the box and make it a good series.

LA absolutely rushed their rebuild and the PLD trade is proof of it. LA should've put that money into goaltending and let Byfield finally play center for once. LA is already overflowing with centers, so I seriously don't understand why they felt the need trade for another one. They were so deep with Vilardi and Iafallo, but now, they just have 3 giant holes in their lineup.

I wouldn`t be scared of the Oilers. LA didn`t play a great series. They took plenty of bad penalties, they were outplayed most of the time. And funny bounces hold them in. LAK besides the Caps and maybe Isles have been the most favorable matchup. Teams that should be terrified of, imo is FLA. They played a strong TBL team, and they just sweeped them. Or Avs, they played a cup contender and won dominant 4:1. I don`t think LAK are a bad team, but they just didn`t play their best hockey, they took a lot of stupid penalties and didn`t get their PK nor PP running. A bit like the Jets they had their down at a very unfavorable timing. If i have to bet on a cup final, i say FLA - Avs, as those teams played really scary hockey.

We’ve seen the oilers beat the kings before and it doesn’t mean anything down the stretch, the kings have been inconsistent all year, the oilers will play a real team, won’t get as many calls go their way, and they’ll get booted once again, it just always happens

Also, apparently one of the best G in the world is likely to be ready to return during the Oil series at some point. He is our 2nd best player. Put this into context, the big German is your 2nd best player and can take over a series. Demko is our second best player and can take over a series.

Dubois literally played with scrubs and a revolving door at wing on the third line with getting only about 20 seconds of PP2 time and he was still top 10 in points on the Kings only behind the top 2 lines and Doughty.

To the oilers aka the best power play in the west. Garbage. Top 10 in a team of scrubs is laughable at that price tag. He shouldn’t be behind any defenseman in points. Respect for winning round 1. But they need to beat a team other than the Kings to really be feared. The Kings were in contention with Washington as the worst playoff team. We've literally seen this story 3 years in a row and it has yet to produce anything substantial.

i dont think oilers are a playoff team. LA kings are just really weak and cant score. You replace that with a team like vanouver, dallas, colorado, or vegas will finish them.

Holding the stick is just not getting called at all in these playoffs. There has been a bunch of blatant ones not being called, the one here was subtle by comparison, but I agree it should have been called

You must not have watched the series. The Oilers got away with a lot of penalties, as did the Kings. The Kings got called on much smaller penalties. For example, Doughty is on the ground and Kane is cross checking the back of Doughtys head into the ice, three times, no penalty.
