This film is the best out of the whole 3 Mesquiteers series which ran from 1936-1942! John Wayne used this series as a stepping stone to his outstanding career starting with the classic Stagecoach (1939)!

I love the Three Mequiteers, Duke Wayne, Ray, and Max always come through. John Wayne did some of his best work with Republic.

After Stagecoach Wayne did this & 3 more Three Mesquiteers 'B westerns for Republic. Wayne would get a new contract with Republic which allowed him to work for other studios but Republic would remain his primary studio through The Quiet Man [1952].

i like waynes lone star westerns from 1933 to 1936,which were fast paced, these films from the year 1939 were better photographed and better stressing less on action which there was some of it.

Although I enjoyed The Night Riders, this Mesquiteers movie kind of threw me a bit. In a previous episode, they fought off bandits who were driving trucks, but this episode was set in 1881, yet they're the same characters. Hmm...

I always liked the Three Mequiteers films, especially the ones with the young John Wayne

This film has similar characteristics to The Baron of Arizona which was not made until 1950; Vincent Price played the role of the land stealing Don/Baron. Both films draw the general fraud characteristics from the real historical Peralta land grant fraud, in which James Addison Reaves succeeded in claiming title to an area 78 miles by 236 miles or about 18,400 square miles - until his fraud had completely unraveled by 1895. Both films are great in their own ways!

Wayne was my second favorite cowboy behind Randy Scott.
