Eccleston and Piper just radiate a kind of beauty that's hard to explain. They emanate a soft golden glow of a feeling that's only possible as a liminal sort of 2000s show could have done. Their beauty is inner, and it's deeply uplifting somehow... ❤

Eccelston will always be my Doctor. Not only is he a fantastic actor, but he's the man who introduced me and millions of others to the world of Doctor Who. I'd argue he's just as important to the show as Tom Baker and Patrick Troughton were. It's a huge shame we only got 1 series with him. I'd do anything to get him back for one more series, or even just an episode. He deserves it more than anyone.

Big Finish has authorized audios with him (as well as most of the still surviving Doctors and companions). No video, but you can have the cast reprise their roles decades later without having to worry about their IRL aging.

@@ehb002 Yeah they sound awesome. It's nice to see him finally go up against Cybermen. Also, his recent comment of "if you want me back in the show, get me on my own." gives me hope that he'll come back one way or another.

I love Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor. I have watched Dr. Who for a very long time, and with the exception of Colin Baker, I have loved every actor brave enough to take on the role. I personally think Eccleston (and Sylvester McCoy as well) were terribly underrated, so I’m glad to know others think fondly of him. He and Billie Piper were so great together.

I'd put him up there with Hartnell--one introduced us to the Doctor in 1963, the other re-introduced a new generation to the Doctor in 2005. Nine/Rose in my opinion is the top of both lists (Doctors/companions)!

Everyone talks about how good this show was with Chris, David, and Billie. But personally I think Murray Gold's music seals it. His scores were phenomenal in the first 2 series

If it weren’t for the hostile backstabbing environment that Christopher Eccleston faced, we would’ve had more seasons featuring the Ninth Doctor. Also, we could’ve seen more of the Ninth Doctor during the 50th anniversary special. But, at least we got a full quality season of the Ninth Doctor. He first introduced me to the world of Doctor Who.

The 9th was the best. I'd gladly take him in a few more seasons instead of what went to Tennant. Him and Rose had the best chemistry too.

You should consider that only Christopher Eccleston had issues that season. No other member of the cast or crew has reiterated that it was a hostile work environment. I think it all is more likely down to Christopher Eccleston's eccentricities then they're being an actual hostile work environment. Other actors have indicated that he's a bit eccentric (to put it politely) and he comes across as so in interviews.

@Erin John William Weaver Angel of the Light Weaver Doctor Who 2005 is not a remake, reboot, or a reimagining. It is a direct continuation from the movie which was a success and not a failure. It achieved high ratings in the UK and respectable ratings in the US for being put up against the series finale of the most popular and highest rated show in the us at the time. The problem is that the BBC lied to everybody and claim that it was a pilot for a series when it was never intended to be anything more than a one-time movie. I like how you criticize younger people here for not having seen the classic series but you just regurgitate urban legends about it.

There's not a single moment that these 2 weren't fantastic. Even the less than great episodes were fantastic. Series 1 will always be my favorite and the 9th Doctor will always be my Doctor. Hopefully he returns someday maybe when RTD and the crew apologizes for what happened back then. If we can have older Doctors comeback as new incarnations then maybe dear Christopher Eccleston can have another season he honestly deserves another victory lap in the Tardis.

The episode Rose is the first episode I got into Doctor Who since then I’ve liked it once Eccleston said “Run” that was the turning point that’s when I said “am hooked”

Thank you Christopher for bringing this show back and introducing it into my life. He was my first doctor, he a the reason I became invested, because of this show I survived some of the hardest moments in my life. Christopher doesn’t get enough credit. And I wish he had been treated better and could have continued. Can’t imagine a life without the Doctor in it.

im only in the first half of s2 right now but I'm genuinely devastated at the lack of chemistry I'm seeing. he still seems to care about her a lot but it's just not the same. hence my digging for ship videos on here lol I knew I'd miss him but I thought he'd at least show affection still. he'll still save her life but now he can go hours of danger without asking about her or looking for her. his thing with reanette made me sick kinda lol 9 used to flirt around a bit but rose was always his first thought. maybe it's just the actor difference but Eccleston used to have this absolutely smitten way of looking at her. tennants looks are more like coworker or casual vibes or something, so frustrating.

I remember being 5 and watching the Dalek episode as my introduction to the show and then the next day I met Christopher in the Trafford centre. I’ve been hooked to doctor who since.

Rose had better chemistry with Ecclestone than she did with Tennant. In fact, I would argue that this is the best chemistry in New Who, despite Rose not being my favourite companion. Clara's my favourite because she felt like a fully fleshed out human being with all the strengths, flaws and nuances that come with that. In terms of chemistry with the Doctor though, you can't do better than Rose and Ecclestone. Neither of them felt like they were trying to jump into each others pants and they balanced each other out perfectly. Even their kiss was basically a CPR moment since it was the only way to save Rose from the power of the Time Vortex.

I've seen David Tennant as Phileas Fogg. At the end of the mini series they talked about 20.000 fathoms under the sea and i think it would be fun if Christopher Eccleston would play Nemo and Peter Capaldi Professor Aronax! 👍💖💖💖

I have come to the conclusion that "Parting of the Ways" is quite superior to "Doomsday" because Rose and Nine each risk themselves to save the other--the one they love; whereas Ten just stands there wishing he could think of something to do....

I hear through some news, That with the 60th Anniversary David Remnant will be paired up with Catherine Tate, well if Chris Eccleston is in the Anniversary which I hope ANF and pray I hope he will be paired up with Billie Piper. I hope all the Doctors who are alive can and will be In the Anniversary episode. I love them all so dearly and try to follow all there careers once they leave also!!!GARY BAILEY

I never go over losing the Ninth Doctor. I was loving the show and thought he was a perfect fit. The chemistry with Rose was amazing. I had no idea about regeneration, it was a shock when that happened and suddenly it was a new actor. I never could get into Tennant as well. Tennant was actually exhausting to me, over acted, and acted overly odd and strange. Half the time he's like a cartoon character. He had some of the best episodes though, but I was relieved when he regenerated. then Matt smith came along and I really enjoyed him as the Doctor, and the Ponds were great too.

4:00 I never noticed that. Is that swearing in Doctor Who. That’s a pretty adult Easter egg along with Rose’s comment ‘breast implants’ hehe. Everyone says this but u only notice how many kind of adult references there are when you’re older. Even in episode 1 there are some funny ones.
