Chris, Seriously this needs to be you back-up machine. Tier zero emissions, old school iron. Can't get any better than that. No problems like the new stuff today. Thanks for making the video of this machine!!!

Starts right up, just like a good little 3306. I had an old Freightshaker with a 3306b. Most reliable motor I ever had in any truck. Not the most HP on the road, but that thing never EVER refused to start right away, even in bitter cold winter weather.

I had to watch this! When I was a kid this is the machine all the big pipe guys had. I was impressed then and still am! Simple, strong and reliable!

That era of 235's are arguably the best and most reliable excavators ever made. I just goddamn love that old iron. And listen to that sweet diesel roar!

Put many an hour in an old 235…they were a great old machine and quite productive!..hard AF on fuel but they could get a lot of work done with the fuel burned…this one looks like she’s DEF deleted!..haha!..great video!.👍🏻

LOVE the Gold Rush comment. To the seasoned, you can tell the sound and machines dont match! Quite often see teeth on a bucket one second and gone the next! The editing is shocking! ( watched every episode though).

Look at the size of the boom cylinders, they're huge. The hydraulics on these old machines ran at about half the pressure, that's why the cylinders are so thick to get the force out of the fluid. Modern excavators have skinnier cylinders, but running at higher pressure they can generate the same force.
@jd470goperator75 жыл бұрын

is the 235's rotary swivel joint leaking.. i see a puddle under it @4:20 might be easier to fix when its NOT working daily.. could be a track motor hose or fitting oring to.. only a look above that heavy heavy belly plate.. huge hint.. figure out what thread the belly plate bolts are. use all thread with some coupling nuts with some 6" bolts welded to the coupling nuts to make them into giant wing nuts.. this will easily drop the belly plate.. you may want to use the welder to put a tack weld about an inch and a half from one end of the all thread.. so you can tighten the all thread against the threaded bracket making it harder to back out when loosening.. ps.. don't weld the bolts to the end of the coupling nuts.. so you can get a ratcheting box end wrench up the long piece of all thread and work the coupling nut with that till it gets to an easy spot.. make up 3 coupling nuts with bolts welded on for each piece of all thread.. so you can lock two together with a box end wrench on it to prevent it from backing out.. while unscrewing the one to lower the belly plate.. there was a video of i think ABOM79 or keith fenner pushing the inner sleeve out of a rotary swivel joint on their big press..

Your Valvos are nice Chris, but entirely lacking the cool factor of a Cat 235. Which of your excavators could that machine outdig? I assume the 160, but could it beat out a 210?

Is there a way to delete def fluid and stuff on newer equipment and not have all the regulated crap on it?? Glad to see Charlie’s doing good and still has all his equipment. Does he still have everything or did he sell some of it?
@Blazer02LS5 жыл бұрын
Plus the minor issue of the fines the EPA hands out if you are caught in violation of the clean air act. DEF itself isn't a big issue, it's the way the engine itself is controlled that causes the most complaints.

Once the warranty expires. Who gonna know on off-road equiptment
@thomasdesmond22485 жыл бұрын
So I see Chris Charlie loosens up the dirt. That upstream from the lake that you are cleaning out. So it will flow into the lake. Then you come in and charge by once to clean it out. Now I know who is actually collecting the the gold. Lol

Im not a cat man. Over anything else. But i can say my brotherinlaw bought a 211 cat brandnew in 1983or84. And he also has a 235 and d6 and 950. But i do know this he only operator of the 211. And i believe he has 27 thousand hrs on it. Original pump. And he never touched ran the original bottom till 17 or 19 thousand hours. Runs machine daily still. The joysticks have all his finger and thumb area completely worn thru the joysticks. I guess you could say cats been good to him
