Dinosaur nesting sites provide an incredible glimpse into deep time. Embryos of animals that would one day grow into colossal beasts have been found that can tell palaeontologists so much about how these creatures achieved such remarkable feats, as well as how certain dinosaurs cared for their young.

I can see little holes in the muzzle. Were those for nerves? Did they have feeling in their lips? Did they perhaps have prehensile lips? That would be a really advantageous adaptation for a long necked animal... It would seem a lot like a giraffe or a ground sloth then. Actually I guess most long necked high grazing animals have prehensile lips... Probably a prehensile tongue too then, if the same adaptations follow. It'd also be likely to make care of their young easier too.

I'd suggest something to do with zoology, if that's possible? Paleontology is really heavy on taxonomy, that is the classification of different species and how they are or aren't related, getting familiar with the classification system and the current species on earth will make it easier to build on backwards into the past. I'm not a paleontologist but I am a geophysicist I took several paleo papers during my initial studies in geology, many years ago 😏

@@pigeonwithweed3425 I’m sure a sauropod would gulp down a small animal or two every now and then, but yea similar to what Daft Vader said, sauropods are built much too large and slow to decide to go full omnivore/carnivore without reversing a lot of their adaptations and evolving some pretty expensive new adaptations. They’re literally designed to eat as many greens (and whatever happens to be sitting or sleeping on those greens, maybe) as possible without moving and using energy to haul their massive weight around, so a giant predatory slow giraffe might not catch enough food to survive. Maybe we’ll find another sauropodomorph that is closer to true sauropods that also happens to be carnivorous, or maybe we’ll find some basal looking sauropod somehow surviving somewhere isolated that also happens to be carnivorous or more omnivorous. I personally don’t think it’s super likely, but hey, we can always make some badass discoveries.
