In spite of Pokémon GO players feeling very negative from the Mega Rayquaza Elite Raid Day debacle, there is still at least one thing they can look forward to. We are about to have Pokémon GO Fest, and if there is one thing Niantic does right, it is in-person events like GO Fest New York. In this video, I am going to be talking about why I really like these events and what Niantic could do to utilize them to make positive changes to Pokémon GO!

Pokémon Go is a 2016 augmented reality (AR) mobile game developed and published by Niantic in collaboration with The Pokémon Company for iOS and Android devices. The game launched with around 150 species of Pokémon, which had increased to around 500 by 2019.
Pokémon Go was released to mixed reviews; critics praised the concept, but criticized technical problems. It was one of the most used and profitable mobile apps in 2016, having been downloaded more than 500 million times worldwide by the end of the year. It is credited with popularizing location-based and AR technology, promoting physical activity, and helping local businesses grow due to increased foot traffic. However, it attracted controversy for contributing to accidents and creating public nuisances. Various governments expressed concerns about security, and some countries regulate its use. By early 2019, the game had over a billion global downloads, grossing over $3 billion in revenue. The game also had over 147 million monthly active users as of May 2018.

I was at NYC gofest last year and going again. My mom does not even play, she tagged along and had so much fun just with the positive atmosphere that she's going again this year

Unless I’m missing something because I’m not familiar with PokeGenei, why can’t you just do the raid invite glitch where you leave every 36 seconds to send more invites?

It has two 4x super effective weaknesses, and it'll only be a fife star raid. It should be able to be an easy trio

You can invite more than 5 with pokegenie because its tier 6 raid pretty sure its 8 or 10 for tier 6 raids on there invite first 5 than wait 30 seconds to invite next 5

while the NYC 2023 city expereince was great the Randell Island expereince was Bad. Getting to it was hard, getting off randell island was hard - having to pass through harlem (not the best part of town). Randell island was hard as the park expereince was half day and the park is so spread out it looked undersold (dead) compared to past years and time was tight to walk the question marked shaped map. bad bad bad - NYC is great but make it in part of central park with more in and out options.

If you have to travel and pay JUST to get the option to experience how its supposed to be, then its kinda disengenuous to act like this is any more than another example of the problem Niantic has. You cant complain all year, then incentivize niantic by buying into the EXACT stuff you take issue with most of the time. Pick a side. Paying for what you disgree with just to make content means you profit off of our problem. If youre one of us, be one of us not just when it benefits you.

Respectfully, I'm not here to pick sides. I'm here to share my thoughts. I don't like many aspects of the game, so they won't get a dime out of me for those aspects. but I love the GO Fest experience. Niantic gets my money where and when they deserve it. I enjoyed GO Fest last year. I felt like I got my money's worth.

The in person events look amazing- only issue is they always seem to be in similar places year after year so they are mostly only accessible to those either with-in the hosting country or those that have thousands of dollars to drop on traveling part way around the planet just to play a game for a weekend (or the game is their source of income à la PoGo content creators). Wish they'd be more open to hosting things like safaris or the in person mini events at places outside of the same chosen few countries so the rest of us get a chance to experience them.

I went last year as well and will be going this weekend to NYC. I think they do great with the in person events. I actually tend to enjoy the city gameplay more than the park gameplay because you can explore a lot more. My strategy is to do the 2 city gameplay days before the park day so I can focus on the areas in the park if I didn’t get certain shiny Pokemon during the city gameplay. I’ve always come out with what I wanted for the most part.

Why not making rural areas higher gym kick-outs like 60 coins vs 50 coins a day. But I have a health issue and can't drive and nobody will get together and find people to join me in traveling.

I've never been to a GoFest or Tour or anything. I just keep thinking that's nice, but it's certainly a super small percentage of players that can go to such events. What about the rest of us?

@@YurinanAcquiline Ah, I get where you're coming from, and I was not clear in my comment. I was talking about Niantic's priority for players. GoFest is great, but the rest of the experience of playing PoGo has gone down since the remote raid nerf. I still don't understand the decision to not listen to players, and double down on taking away things that we liked and made them money. See the video from yesterday. But they are able to do a great in person event, which is really only applicable to a small percentage of their players. I'm a suburban player and everything from yesterday's video is true for me. I don't even know if I'm going to get a ticket for the global event this year because I still might not be able to find other players locally to play with.

Im going this sunday as it was the only day I was free this weekend too bad there isn't no city-wide exploration for sunday ticket holders but oh well ig. My two main goals this weekend is to do as many necrozma raids as I can and to catch as many shiny eevee's as possible

Hubs and I are headed to Go Fest from Virginia - we are super excited - it’s our first Big In person event - we pretty much just started playing a couple years ago (he started a 6 months after me) I started playing in May 2022 - we def missed out on the elite raids due to location here in VA - but it’s all good - we are more excited about Go Fest anyway.

In person gofests encouraged people to spoof even before remote nerf cannot remote to them to get shinies so again encourages spoofing to them to get the shinies.. gofests should all be global they can sell a ticket for better shiny rate but allow everyone to get the shiny at least not shiny lock them without ticket.

If i purchase the NY ticket how do i know if im strictly doing the city experience (Central Park). Im not planning on going to Randall Park.

U can play in any of the Burroughs of the city , not just Central Park and if u buy a ticket for any day u automatically get both depending on what time u but the ticket for. If u buy a ticket for park for the am u have the city experience for the afternoon or vice versa all up to you and u can also buy additional city wide gameplay for other days on he same site u buy tickets on.

Niantic need to follow their own vision - encouraging players to drive everywhere to get to elite raids and flying to the same cities for these events (I thought it was all about walking around in your local community), please spread the love and have more events at least on every continent or none at all, yes I'm a bit salty - still waiting for Australia to be included in events.

Fellow trainers, I want to Mega evolve a Rayquaza. The candidates are a Hundo Rayquaza OR a Lucky 14/14/15 Ray. Suggestions???

Id say Mega the hundo, then walk it to get more mega energy then when Shadow rayquaza comes out get someone to purify one and lucky trade it to you. Purified Lucky pokemon are extremely cheap to power up vs regular pokemon

As someone who lives in Oregon these events really disappoint me as a player. I feel restricted and held back because KZfaq isn’t paying me to play this game. Like y’all are the only players really other than addicts who actually get most of the decent Pokemon releases and cool features. Never understood why all events aren’t just global, I get the in person hype things they set up but if you can’t fly you then are a bad player due to lack of decent Pokémon. And to hold back raids just makes it even more impossible

2-3 for normal necrozma only tier 5 get more if inviting remote players due to no party power and most likely no damage boost from friend boost. 8+ for dawn wings or duskmane necrozma tier 6 raid need to take it down fast because get less balls to catch with

At least elite raid were free and local unlike the in person gofests that you need to by a ticket to even if in local area get nothing without paid ticket even worse than elite raids all gofests should be global cannot even get shiny without ticket if invited via remote raid by someone with ticket.

I don't know why GoFest only happens in major cities like NY and Commiefornia. I have no desire to go to either state. There are numerous big cities across the country that would be suitable to host GoFest. If that's the way it stays, I guess I'll never go to one. Also, niantic "being on their game". Good one! 🤣
