The real problem with most skateparks, is when they're built out in the blazing sun, without creating any sort of shady spot to cool off and chill for a while.

Secret to dipping smiths & feebles is having your feet closer together or atleast the non popping foot to be in the center of the board when holding. Its best to have the non popping foot behind the half mark of your board closer to your popping foot. Yes of course lean back as you normally do for a smith or feeble. It sounds weird to have your feet closer together but it is correct. The more spread-out your feet are while holding the less leverage you will have to dip the board.

That makes flipping out of tricks really sensitive and difficult in my opinion. Great advice for learning to hold nice smiths for a long time though. Another adjustment to make can be learning to smith with your knees bent more so you are lower on the ledge (this is hard to build strength up for but it’s worth it). Then you can keep your front foot around the bolts for a proper flip out. Learning to control how much you bend your knees gives you the most control and strength in almost all aspects of skateboarding (this goes for ollies, flip tricks, transition, holding grinds, popping out of grinds, manuals, and comboing tricks) The more you bend your knees, the larger your range of control is. #1 rule of skating is BEND YOUR KNEES

@@TytyGoBonkers Good response & yes your suggestion can work as well. Popping out & flipping out of my preferred technique isn’t hard to do as you may think. It actually makes flip tricks out a lot easier to do such as tre flips/varial flips. Most people started doing trey flips with their legs closer together when they were learning because it was easier to start the rotation. Yes on flat ground doing tricks with your feet closer together looks bad but not out of a smith or feeble. Take a look at Mikey Whitehouse, he does my preferred technique & many people like the look of it. You might need to see it vs imagining the look of it in your mind.

"Hey, can I talk to you for a second?" "NO!" ahahah but I get it John, it's really annoying when someone start talking to you and won't stop in the middle of a session and I always cut the conversation pushing away with my board while I'm still talking to them

Well if you see a guy talking to a camera in the middle of the skate park it's not crazy to assume he's down for a "crazy shot idea" and a chat.

Texas skate park’s definitely lack some basic obstacles. Personally I would love to have a long small 2 foot high qp to practice basic stalls on. Or a tiny bowl/mini ramp would b cool too. I am making progress on the larger qps but maybe not as fast as I would on something smaller. Skilled skaters like small obstacles too. They can get real tech and nutty on smaller “beginner “ obstacles as well

I mean DFW parks, all parks are not accessible to everyone either some Texas skaters do not own a car and public transportation is limited

having a park with a 3ft-ish mellow-ish mini ramp is definitely needed around here! There really isn't anywhere with beginner-centric transition to learn transition skating. It's either no transition at all or gnarly large bowls 😕

@lancelovecraft5913 Жыл бұрын
@@colinhawks2469 well said. the very few baby qps we got around here are always narrow and next to the dirt. I am trying to learn frontside stalls/grinds but I always get psyched out when the qps are narrow. feels like if i miscalculate i am going to fly off that thing lol

The ledge looks great, but I gotta say I don't understand why they do that cutout under the angle iron part of the ledge. I'm not really a ledge slappy kinda guy but it can limit those sort of tricks and also if you land too close to the ledge off balance you can get your foot pinched under the ledge... it should just be a vertical surface.

I agree that every skatepark needs a perfect flatbar and flatledge… How do you characterise them? E.g. is a ledge with wallies at its ends problematic to you? Really appreciate some feedback from advanced ledge skaters as our community will build an own skatepark!
