I had one of these watercolor palettes for gouache that I made into a "dirty“ palette. I set it up with my favorite colors and coated the mixing area with burnt sienna, Paynes gray and burnt umber. It has opened options beyond my imagination. Thank you.

This is seriously like looking at my own pallet! Q rose is my favourite! I started with the split primary set from DS and then added the secondary and some additional colours, gradually, over the next year. Limiting myself to the 6 colours of the split primary for so long really forced me to mix colours. What I learned during that year was invaluable. I seriously debated sticking with it to be honest, but I there are so many colours to explore!

oh my this is SO bizzarre! I literally have been just looking at travel palettes and feeling completely lost (my 'go to' medium is usually house paint or random stuff) I'm asking my Father if he can make me a wee portable easel that can attach to my camera tripod (my Dad's very clever with things like that) (and it would be SO great to be having some thing like that made made by my Dad - would be like having him with me when I go out painting ) and was thinking I need some watercolours in a tin I can attach to that via magnets - but when I looked at the sets online I have literally NOT A CLUE about what colours I am going to need or be using mostly (except for yellow - I use a LOT of yellow!) - SO I came online to see if you were online at all (as it is normally about this time if I am still awake that I can catch your lives) and well... here you are talking about the colours in your palette! Yeah. Beautifully in sync haha. Good. shall watch now and see what you have to say about your choices...

Oh my. I can now use a smaller pallet instead of dragging my 35 compartment one to class. Just figured out a great transparent gray that lifts easily instead of paynes gray, since I make lots of mistakes and want to correct. Working to get a pallet of all transparent, non-staining (except red, of course) colors until I get the hang of all of this. Awesome explanation, as always. Thank you. I am a huge fan.

Q rose is my favorite. I did do a painting using just Q rose, phaelo blue & a light yellow. When I put my palate together a few years ago I was fumbling around in the dark so this January I went through and slimmed it out somewhat. You know when you say you're getting into watercolors people are like, here I tried watercolors take these paints off my hands please. So I pulled out all of the hand me down koi watercolors put them together in their own little pallet and did a painting with just that set. Oh my God, they were wasted when i had them mixed in with my pallet but on their own they're incredible.. there is a carmine red in that set I just love. It's the only one I miss having in my main palette but it really doesn't belong there it needs to be with its koi friends.

to be honest the eye candy for me on your palette has to be the french ultramarine jewel like pop of colour and the pyrrol scarlet a close second. It's because of you that I don't clean my palette anymore. I also leave my colors pretty dirty, although not as dirty as yours! But now I always laugh when watching other KZfaq videos where people fret over contaminating their colors. I still need to remember the tip about leaving all the "mud" there and just adding red or whatever color I want. I tend to look for a spot in my mixing area that is red or yellow or whatever. But your colors and mixes always looks so fantastic. I want to do some practice using just two colors: Ultramarine and Burnt Siena obviously, but also a Rose and Viridian, and some kind of purple and yellow. I love Maya blue, even though you don't apparently use it! I'm also very intrigued by that Undersea Green.

I've never really tried the Daniel Smith paints. My expensive paints are mostly M Graham, with a few random things thrown in. I use a steel pan as my pallet, which used to be the top of a lab scale I got from a job a while back. It's oval, grey, polished, has raised 1 cm sides. I put my paints around the outside edge and mix in the middle, oil paint style. My typical pallette is: Chinese White, Ivory Black, Cadmium Red Light, Alizarin Crimson (occasionally), Ultramarine Blue, Cerulean blue, Sap Green, Dioxazine Purple, Hansa Yellow Deep, Transparent Orange Iron Oxide (one of my favorite paints), and then I always have my titanium and zinc white gouache sitting on the side. I do paint a little less watercolorist (is that a word?) and a little more like an oil or acrylic painter. I tend to make most of my colors by mixing Red Light, Cerulean, Orange Oxide, Hansa Yellow, with the Dioxazine for some darkness, and the white to lighten or make gray. Thanks for the content, Liron! I wanted to participate but I am unfortunately banned from IG/FB, so I will skip the contest.

I keep mine in an order too. My home palette is circular the Quiller palette and every color I would need is there. I enjoy azo yellow because it is pretty transparent. And the phalogreen plus Quin gold makes a lovely sap green. Since the quin gold is a mix I keep them separated. If you ended up sending me a painting I would have to return the favor and send one to you. Take care I would say that your favorite color is neutral by your palette. I use it quite a bit also. I hope that my painting turns out well and that your’s do too. Thanks for trying the quin burnt orange and the pyrol scarlet, aren’t they awesome?
