The Only Elevator That Goes to the Top of the Sears/Willis Tower

(5-27-22) This is car 61 in the Sears/Willis Tower in Chicago, IL. This is the only elevator that goes up to the top floors of the building. This one is also one of the only original Westinghouse relay logic elevators left in the building. Just like F3, this one has the Otis compass system on it for dispatching, though we can still look inside the cabinet at the original Westinghouse buttons! I believe this elevator has been used recently for the Skydeck, but we were able to take a solo ride on it here!

When I was a kid, even OB1 & OB2 had these rounded cabs (although bigger). I think 1 was bright orange and the other bright green. I've never been above 103 though. This was amazing to see!

I went up to 103 as a kid before, but this was my first time above 103 which was so cool!

I remember riding this car up to the Skydeck back almost two years ago because there were some serious flooding that happened down in the basements... Let's just say that we foamed over this elevator lol!

It's worth foaming over. It's the only one that goes all the way up.

They're just Westinghouse buttons, but you don't see 100+ labeled floor buttons that often.

If I'm not mistaken the Freight elevator not seen by the public stops at 106 and to get to 108 you gotta take steps the rest of the way thru the guts of the building and 109 is considered the roof the mechanical penthouse is 110 where the window cleaner is stored if I'm correct

What is the tallest floor this elevator can reach? 105th or 106th?

@@stlelevators Ok, thanks! Did they tell you how they go up to the tallest floors of the building? I mean, are there other elevators to the 106th, 108th or 110th floor? Btw., I do not know if Willis Tower actually is 108, 109 or 110 floors high.

Once all the other lifts in the building get modded by OTIS, this one's going too I fear. 😢 Shame but I'm happy OTIS is doing the mod

They will all go at some point. They have to keep the two elevators that serve the whole building running until the end.
