A lot of people debate between Panasonic and Sony Aps-c for budget cameras. G9 II or FX30 they say. There are only a few reasons everyone isn't shooting Panasonic, and it's not what you think. Today shooting on the BMPCC OG with Leica 25mm f1.4 in a wholesome sweater.

ironic is that even though you have the sony 7s III with thousands of dollars difference with respect to the G9 MARK II, your best footage was undoubtedly the wildlife with the G9 II...i can still see the pollen like yellow snow on the bees, the stabilization you achieved was amazing...it was something out of this world....

8:45 - If you have the camera you can measure the crop yourself by recording a video in an uncropped video mode then record a cropped clip. Overlay with opacuty turned down on the timeline then in the Inspector panel you can zoom in until they match. The amount of zoom is the crop factor in the cropped video mode.

Regarding what you said. I switched from Sony to Pana a few years ago and got the s5. I had been comparing specs and reading this and that for months. What I did in the end was look at as much amateur video from the s5 and other cameras as possible. I stopped pixel peeping and comparing data and went for the s5 because no matter what lens or user, it seemed to render a beautiful image. It's already pretty dated but still makes me grin with what it can do.

Good talk. Regarding the redness on the face, that is the effect of good colour separation in the camera. Separation shows up different areas of the face as red, yellow, white, green etc. You can fix it while grading by reducing the spread and contrast between yellows and reds, i.e. smoothing the colour difference. Using lighting that is warm and soft also reduces the separation between different hues of skin tones (i.e. a softbox with variable temperature, a gold reflector or a warm gel).

Your amazing wool sweater is likely the cause of your sound issue where we all got to enjoy the silence, if only for a moment. Wool can cause static charge buildup, especially on cold days, and that static buildup disrupting your sound may be up to 40 higher than other yarns like cotton or linen. True story!

"click 'like' now on any CC video before I watch it" -- I believe internal KZfaq algorithm considers it a valid "Like" only after a certain time of viewing has passed. This may be done to discount robotic "Likes". Last I heard a View counted after 30 sec, a Like after 1 min, but with the proliferation of "shorts" it might be down to 30 seconds, too. Don't know, and KZfaq is not eager to disclose that.

Odds are pretty much all of your qualms with the G9.ii will be fixed in the GH7. Would make sense, the G9.ii is a stills centric body with slightly gimped video, just not as gimped towards video as the video centric GH5.ii, GH6, etc. are gimped towards taking stills. Also, they have to have a reason for people to actually buy the GH7 over the G9.ii, and even as an MFT user and fan, I don't really know what they can do aside from adding the active cooling and maybe doing an overhaul for faster ram and possibly processing... which would give what exactly for a Panasonic MFT body? OM-Sushi is putting orders for E-P7 and EM10.IV's because they can't keep up with the market demand, with influencers in Asia blowing them up as cheaper/smaller Fujis with solid JPEGs. I REALLY wish Panasonic would see that and release a proper G100.ii, not a G100D refresh because they changed suppliers for EVF's and felt nice enough to tack on a USB-C port, that would be a true G9.ii Jr. I actually really like the G100's body, I got one for 200 bucks off ebay just to mess around with and really enjoy it for stills with the 15mm f1.7 or 20mm f1.7... just wish I had IBIS. A proper GX8.ii as the G9.ii Jr to maybe try to snag some of the Pen-F cult members with a new rangefinder body would be great too.

Living in Canadia is probably bad for your health. You should move to where Marcus Pix lives, or Florida, somewhere where its super warm. Go get a Green Card or some kind of Visa. My uncles from my mothers side when back to Europe to live and they've long since died. My dad who is the same age as that eldest uncle went back to Europe and nearly died after a year or two from pneumonia - the climate is too cold and too harsh. You would think that the warmer to hot climates were worse for you, but they're not as theres fewer viruses that'll wipe you out. Basically anything can kill you with pneumonia in snowy climates, as pneumonia has a huge list of causes. What can get you in the tropics and sub tropics is Malaria, but even that goes up into Europe during summer. West Nile virus which is a form of Malaria goes up into Southern Europes summer. Thats why many New Yorkers famously retire to Florida, because their peers are dying in freezing cold New York winters, and its better to "get a good sweat going" down in Florida. You can keep your snow, man that cold goes straight through me and you start catching cold and then you get a flu. When you're an old man in that cold, and mind you if you're not getting the Rheumatism from the cold winters by the time you're 40-50yo, and your whole body is in pain from the cold PLUS it triggers your arthritis agony, then you can enjoy that snow. Not for me thanks, been there done that snowy living for a short time and its a nightmare. Canada has a terrible climate, and much of the North of the USA too. You've had health problems most of your life, maybe you should look at moving to Florida and work as a masseuse massaging old people while they enjoy the sun lol. Or move to Australia's Tropics with crocodiles, stinging jelly fish, venomous snakes and Dengue fever or Ross river virus (Both forms of Malaria). What happens in Australia is the annual migration. All the retired people before or as it gets cold in Melbourne and Sydney, they pack up their campers or Toyota Hiace vans converted to a mini camper, get on the roads en masse travelling north to bask like lizards in the mild to warm dry season (winter) of the Tropical North Queensland for 6 months. They leave when the summer heat gets to horrendous and migrate south slowly back to the southern states. They're on their pensions or retirement fund money and live like that - they're called the "Grey Nomads". Everyone basically becomes a grey nomad when they retire, that is if they can move about like that. Because that cold even Sydney or Melbourne will wipe out elderly people.

@@mountainhobo :) you must be my unknown twin brother with love for long hiking trips... Yes, I would do the same! I think Kasey anticipates the coming of such a camera too. For the time being, it might be the Olympus E-M1m3 coming closest to the ideal. I'd love to try one, but it's still €900 second hand where I live. Let me know of your future findings!

Lens flares on 7-14mm is an ABOMINATION. They were the reason for me to sell the god damned thing and replace it with 8-18mm. Despite that the wider, the better in UWA territory

Much more laid back Kasey. I’m guessing he’s not vegan now. He gets angrier when vegan.

Can you do a color science test g9ii vs s5ii vs s5iix? I think s5ii series have worse color than g9ii and the original s5 and s1 series. Panasonic just can never nail it, always on the losers side. Besides, Panasonic has to buy sensors from Sony, there are definitely some crippling hammers here.

I agree the colors are nicer on the G9II and GH6. These cameras sensor is not made by Sony.

8:35 Don't worry about slow mo. Nobody uses it extensively and it would be silly to gatekeep your choice of camera behind a vestigial feature maybe half a dozen KZfaqrs use.

Most Leisonic glass was basically designed for photography not video. In the m43 format its relatively light, small, fast, and capable of exceptanly crisp and clear capture. If that's not your notion of "Cinema" then you can slap on a Piss-Mist filter, coating of Vaseline, or mush it out in post. Don't really give a rat's ass about autofocus. Started in film when there was no such thing and don't use it except to occasionally to pull focus between points. Once the G9II becomes fully ironed out a GH7(s) should follow driving BM m43 bat shit crazy once again. Camera Wars!

What is with "full frame" sensors for video? What are you trying to make amateur IMAX movies? APS-C is the right sensor size for video as it is close to the super 35 film frame that most great movies where shot in. I am even looking to get a Nikon 1 series body to use with 1950s lenses that came with my 16mm Bolex, as it has a sensor size close to a 16mm film.

What do super 35 ARRI cameras rigged out with hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of gear, lighting and professional colourists have to do with budget aps-c cameras? The sensor size makes the movies good? Full frame looks much better for youtube videos in most cases.

Im not sure if its just me but the footage doesnt seem to match the dialog and it just bothered me a bit but I do know you had mic trouble in this one. Could just be me being dumb tho I WOULD love the FX30 so much. I feel like I'm gonna end up getting something like the Canon R50 since it's got uncropped and 6k scaled down 4k and 10-bit video. Something about that G9 II and the G100 II we might be seeing in a few weeks time 👀👀

4K 120 fps on ZVE1 looks shockingly similar to 1080 120 fps on Sony A7IV. How is this possible? I’m rethinking the need for 4k.
