I'm always down for explaining the lore and design origins of beasts from Monster Tamers and Creature Collectors, but Elestrals is different in that it's a card game! I got sent the 1st Edition Elestrals box, and now I'm gonna open it up and explain what I see as I go! Completely BLIND!

28:02 Sparta _was_ Greek. It was a city-state. One with armor colors being the same as the ones Ares is often depicted with for some reason, even though they weren't patroned by Ares (common misconception, it's the purely fictional Spartoi who worked for Ares)

The little swirl on that first galaxsea is for stellar, which is elestrals version of shinies

Glauby comes from "glaucus" (a latin name for the blue dragon sea slug) and possibly "baby"! Edit: Drataya also comes from "dragon" and "petaya" (name for the dragon fruit in some languages)

Chrysoar = soar + boar + Chrysaor, the Golden Boar, son of Medusa and Poseidon, brother of Pegasus.

Aquarius is an air sign, not a water sign. A lot of people make that mistake because of the name. Considering that one card has the word Aquarius in the name and it's a bird it's an air type of some kind.

It might not me a water sign but the name means Water Bearer, it's symbol is two waves, and the image is a person pouring out water. So it is associated with water.

the pelican bit was neat, Aquarius is the water bearer, normally its the spring wind that brings clouds and spring thaw floods, so an air sign associated with water, but so this is a magical pelican, a bird so air, but its using its big mouth to carry water, and so being a water bearer, its just neat

* Jolten (Jolt + Tenrec) is defiantly a Hedgehog Tenrec it even has the same color scheme. Tenrecs are a group of mammals endemic to the island of Madagascar. * Sinder seems to be based on the Satanic Leaf-tailed Gecko.

Elestrals has been my jam for almost 2years since it was announced, from public playtests to first ed release its been an awesome welcoming fun community and a great dynamic game. With set 2 dropping this month ive been more hyped than ever.

@BepisQueen not quite, there isn't a.y direct bundle products. Some stores that carry elestrals do sell bundles . Like paladin cards had a bundle for set two with 1 of everything etc. These boxes shown in thr video are care packages sent for free to a ton of creators

Super cool to see you picking up Elestrals and seeing what it's all about. I recently played it with a group of Yugioh creator friends for the first time and had a blast. Definitely in a better state than the Yugioh TCG's meta and Pokemon's lack of interaction on your opponent's turn despite having a very solid and fun gameplay loop otherwise turns me away from it, so this blends both into a game that I adore. Just a shame that aDrive has lost a ton of subs because of the project, sometimes I guess Pokemon fans like what they like and don't want anything else from my experience.

I liked most of the grass types, especially the dragon fruit dragon. And I found out about/was reminded of the Chrysaora. Oddly, I didn't know of it/remember it because I am a kid of the 1990s, and the big thing (before it was downcast in the internet realm) was Harry Potter, and they had a flying boar as the school mascot. Also, thank you for showing me a game I could get my youngest nephew into.

5:36 the stellars are the shinies for Elestrals. There's promos (like galaxsea) but there's also serialized, which are the /99 or the fa /10.

I first heard of it because one of my favorite fakemon artists made art for it. Its the guy who made the Centaurbor line actually. Bilsu Art. He's making a Zelda X Pokemon crossover region!

Lycavolt is inspired by werewolves in a story. zues turned a king lycaon into a werewolf, and the reason cyclops were also the children of persydon just watch mythology guy

Elestrials has a lot of potential, as I thought when I saw this launch, but I think they need to combine their physical game with a digital client and get ahead of the others already trying this but wanting to be "Flesh and Blood" style of 'we only print cards to play physically'. Like it was a nice idea but most card players I know even if they play in the flesh. as it were, often get more games in digitally. Playgroups take time to form, you need to schedule them almost as much as D&D if not more and on top of that when new people come in, as I was reminded by my Digimon TCG a few times, everyone has to take time to educate them and help the new people integrate. Digital is just a faster way to introduce your product and accumulate revenue to fund the physical releases.

Interesting concept and lore loosely based on greek mythology. (Yes, there's a lore video on their site.) I'm curious on what the other three "elements" may present since the starter sets only have the first five. We know that one of them is frost thanks to the Flurrmine tease, and I'm guess the last two are "light and dark" or "day and night" based on they vague sun and moon shapes. If I have to guess what the other three "gods" are; they might be Persephone (her decent into the underworld created the first winter), Helios (a sun god), and Hades (ruler of the underworld and last of the "big three").

UPDATE: Just saw their Youtune channel, and the last two are defintely hinted to be "sun" and "moon" in one of their videos. I might be wrong on one of those gods though.

I don't know if he picks up on it after about the half way point of the video, but after a glance i realized that Sinder is called that because pun on cinder (fire), and yes, sin, because sinful and evil... but also because it is the serpent of eden that tempted Eve into eating the forbidden fruit! if it's a serpent why does it have legs? because it hasn't tempted eve yet (or at least not punished yet), as god took its legs away as punishment for tempting eve to commit the original sin

Someone else commented that, but Lockstin should DEFINITELY do a video on Bakugan next. Maybe in order, one video with the Gen 1 ones, then another with the 2019 gen 2, etc. Every kind of multiple-monster series should be evaluated by his wise knowledge.

The art on these cards is pretty good, and I appreciate the attention to anatomy. The, uh, pelican was what first stuck out to me as actually looking like a real animal, even if stylised. I'm willing to bet folks are going to cry that this is, "yet another pokémon rip-off", but from what I've so far seen, it looks like a really nice, pokémon-inspired array of creatures. I'm curious if there's any world building that would help shape this opinion. EDIT: I'd be happy to see an "explained" video on this series :3

There are a couple of lore videos on the elstrals youtube channel. one is a 20ish min audio book with still images. the other is a short few min animation if you are curious!

12:52 Taya is the cut off word of pitaya which is in another language, I would assume dragon fruit because there is a cookie called pitaya cookie, and Cookie Run: Kingdom and oven break

2:03 Should note that this is not a d20, but rather a 20-sided spindown. You cannot use it for proper number randomization, but the numbers are sequential so that you can add or subtract easily.

Might have already checked but ... Glauby is a baby Glaucus (the Blue Dragon mentioned a bit before. It's its scientific name ... and I adore this nam-) Also : Drataya ... the '-taya' part is from 'Pitaya' ... who's just another word for "Dragon Fruit" hehe

16:35 I tried the mobile version, it's still in beta, very early from the looks of it. Evolving or in this case "ascending" seems to work closer to the Digimon Digial Card Game where monsters of the same color can evolve into other monsters of the same color except these ones don't seem to have levels???

Anything can ascend into anything, regardless of type or level! "Evolution lines" are more of a lore thing, gameplay-wise there's usually some "special summon" rules for Elestrals in the same family but other than that, ascent your Penterror into Tadpuff if that's what your heart tells you lol

1. you play magic?! that makes you even more likable! 2. why dont you take a look at the Spectrobes? its disneys try at the pokemon cake. its first title came out in 2007, got three of em, and even though they did get better, they sold less with each one, with the last title releasing on the Wii. i know there are 23 different lines, plus i think 6 or 7 ""legendaries"" called ultima-spectrobes in the first game. anyway, it'd be really cool if you rated them all, based on design.

Actually, an ice type Cerberus is more accurate to Greek Mythology than fire as Hades was very cold. Modern delicious of the underworld/hell being hot comes from Dante's Inferno
