I started playing ctb out of curiosity a few years ago, then got the 50k rank medal by accident but I actually started to like it more and more as the time went by and now it's my second main mode I play (currently 10k). It's kinda underrated by people calling "not a real gamemode, rather a minigame" but still, it is fairly fun to play if you get used to the mechanics

heads up, osekai's database doesn't cover every single player, only the higher ranked players, this is why that medal show that a lot of players have that medal

TL;DR at bottom. I can't quite wrap my head around the top 50k medal being 94% attainment rate. I feel like there has to be some other way with how it's calculated or something that's leading to this high %age. To put it into context, that's like saying only 6% of osu! players have not reached 5 digits (this is already generous, since it's including 50,000-99,999). As a new player who's been actively playing for a few months now and only just hit 500pp, not quite even enough for six digit, it seems unfathomable to me that 94% of people have reached top 50k, even with the other game modes and the natural movement of rankings taken into account. As with any game, the majority of players only play a little bit; I think it's absurd for a staggering 94% of players to have put in the fairly sizable effort of reaching top 50k. Even if Taiko/CTB/Mania are easier than STD, it still takes some skill and time and its unlikely for newer players to grind those enough to reach top 50k. I mean, if enough people were grinding it to reach the 94% completion mark then 50k would probably be difficult in those gamemodes too. Anyway, to attempt to contextualize a 94% completion rate again, there are at least 17 million _active_ osu! players. That comes out to almost 16 million players completing the medal. If we wanted to be generous, that would be 15 million players reaching top 50k. That's... pretty absurd. It would barely be doable assuming the most ideal situations of 200k distinct people in the top 50k at any given time and the assumption that they can cleanly wash out to a new group of 200k players in the top 50k, and this would have to happen about every 2 months for this to happen. (Note that the players that get washed out pretty much would also have to not re-enter the top 50 and basically go inactive). I know I kind of droned on about this but it's just the scale of this that doesn't make any sense. Something that only a small percentage of people can earn shouldn't be, and probably isn't actually being, earned by pretty much almost the entire playerbase. Is this statistic a result of some kind of inaccurate calculation of completion percentage? My assumption would that it would be # of completions / # of players, if you really wanted to boost the stats you could do # of completions / # of active players. The numbers still seem wildly off, as I pointed out above. The reasons for this discrepancy I can think of off the top of my head (this is just a hypothetical guess, I have no clue how it's actually calculated) are the calculation being done in the form of self-reporting where users have to submit that they were _going for_ a particular achievement and once they have earned the badge they succeeded. This would skew the statistics in the direction of 94% completion since it's more likely that badgehunters (who would be using such a self-reporting site) would have already completed the badge or have invested more time into the game and be more likely to complete it. There could also be players who weren't going for the badge but reported it once they earned it - would also skew the statistic in favor of more completions. Sorry for the long post, my ideas are not quite as thought out as your videos this is just everything that I'm thinking in the spur of the moment as the statistic does not seem right to me. TL;DR I'll leave on this note, 94% completion rate means only 6% of osu! players have not reached the top 50 in one of the 4 gamemodes. This seems wildly inaccurate and at the very least the data is not being presented in a completely transparent way.

NOTE: A lot of these medals numbers might be kind of confusing because a lot of players (including me) started playing before the existence of medals. A lot of these players wouldnt have the 1 star pass medal, for example, because they probably didn't have a reason to play 1 star maps again since medals got released

Easiest medal is the NF mod introduction, literally go on any ranked map with NF on, you don't have to hit any notes since you can't fail so just sit there until the map's over and voila

still find it insane that I left osu 3/4 years ago at 4900PP at around rank 20/25k and now have decayed all the way to 60k. Insane how much people have improved though I am loving getting back into the game again :)

....As a player who started 4 years ago and have been playing mostly osu!Standard in full force since then, I'm disappointed to see that I don't even have this medal. But this video is interesting, all right. I imagine that majority of the ones with that medal must have played ctb for a decent bit, which I have not at all lmao.

Lol I actually don't have the double time medal (or top 50k obviously since it's more generally common and based around how playerbase's skills grow rather than just straight up being easy)

As a fellow catch player, It is in deed easy to get to top 50k on the game mode, if you're new to the game i'd recommend to play either Cup - Salad Difficulties, around an estimate time it will take around a few hours.

I would say the easiest medal is any one of them that can be done with NF with no input required

I got the 50k medal on standard, it was my goal for the longest time.

As a catch the beat player, I see this as a absolute win

I am absolutely positive there has to be some sampling bias in the data because simply going through the userIDs randomly should give you a similar completion rate but when you actually do it, you'd be hard pressed to find a _single_ account with that medal, let alone over 93%. Even if we assume it's calculated from actually active players, of which there's around 4M (being on the low side here, just to make it clearer), that would still mean that around 20% of _all_ accounts have that medal, which is easily disproved. I tried going through 100 random accounts and haven't found a single one with that medal. The probability of that outcome (assuming a 20% completion rate in all accounts) is only about 1 in 5 billion (rounding up a bit here but it's still close). It also just simply doesn't make sense that almost everyone has been, at some point, in the top 50k, including all of the 6-, 7- and even 8-digits who joined in the past several years and simply decayed back into that range. Not to mention the vast majority of accounts are I still love your content and this video was enjoyable too, but it's a bit of a blunder, sorry.

idk i think the word "easiest" is kinda misused in this video. yes, an achievement may be #1 in terms of the number of players holding it, but i wouldn't say that it means it's the easiest one. i'd say the easiest achievement is passing something with NF -- you just use the mod and that's it. even if your hands are paralyzed and you miss every circle or smth it's impossible to not unlock it

I also got some hush-hush medals in osu!catch like Quick Draw which is really hard to get when you try it on osu!standard. Catch is the most underrated mode because people refer to it as a mini-game.

Another thing to note: the completion rate of medals on osekai aren't accurate to the entire playerbase due to data gathering limitations. there is only about 50-60k people in the website database, maybe?(I'd need to ask mulraf, but can't be arsed) The numbers would change dramatically if all nearly 20m people registered were in it and it's possible that the rank 50k medal wouldn't be the most awarded anymore. (especially when you take into account the first 40k people added to the database were the top 10k in each gamemode)

The amount of PP I have in standard is about 4-6 times as much PP than I have in catch, but I'm still higher ranked in catch. Lol. I also made it a thing to only play with the perfect mod in catch, so I'm 13k with 100% profile accuracy. I wanna get 5 digit in all 4 game modes, but I don't really like mania, so I'm still 200k.

Slightly outdated as time and a half is the most common rn as of the 274 medal release but i can see the top is still 2nd most common so there is that

also think about this: it was EVEN easier to get that medal years ago when ctb had even less players. i got mine in 2016

the most common reason ppl dont have some medals like 1 star pass is probably because the medals were added not too long ago, and they might've created their account before that date and not played 1 stars after the medal's release.

the amount of skill needed to get in the top 50k in osu!taiko is very low and you just need to play enough maps bc it awards you w so much pp compared to standard

I can confirm that it is the easiest to play ctb if you want the top 50k medal, I was able to get top 50k in ctb in under an hour of playtime. It's so free.

I can see the top must surely be broken. I could understand 5% but 94% is wayyyyy too much. In theory you could walk into any multi lobby, ask who is top 50k in any gamemode and in theory 15 out of 16 of those people would be 50k in a gamemode which just isn't true. Another test you can do is use a random number generator from 1 to 30,000,000 and replace the user ID in the osu website URL, which would encompasses most of the current registered player base and in theory you should find the medal 94% of the time, which again doesn't happen. No clue where 94% comes from but unfortunately I think there must be some sort of error on this achievement stat.

It took me an eternity to get a single medal because I spent 99% of my time playing Graveyard'd Mania maps as they were the only ones that had songs I liked with the gamemode I liked most that were also within my skill range LMAO. Now I am the proud owner of 4 medals that I all got after playing 1 ranked osu map.
