Hi Mark I went into “The Ox-Bow incident” totally blind as it’s a western title I’ve had in my collection for a while & never seen until a few months ago. And although I tend to get put off with black & white movies now & again, it actually adds to the atmosphere of the movie later into it. A great story, & the characters make it a must watch western, a Clint Eastwood fav also, Henry Fonda never disappoints in movies & the ending leaves one shocked & numb with thought. Classic western, fine review Mark 😎👍

Thank you for the comment. I love black & white movies. Some of my absolute favourites: "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance"; "High Noon"; "Dead Man". I actually think some movies would be improved if they were in black & white. Like you say it adds an atmosphere.

Thank you for saying so. Even putting aside the deeper message of the film it's a beautifully acted and directed movie that is thought provoking and compelling. As someone watching it 80 years after it was made I found so much of it chilling and shocking.

I loved Westerns and the glorification of that lifestyle for many years until I saw this movie. I'll never forget how much it broke me and my buddy who rented it back when Netflix was still an online Blockbuster. It became my favorite western from that moment on, in the fact that they could show you a story that shows the truth of the matter in those days and give you an understanding of the issue with mob rule.

I can see you need a lesson in politics because private posses and militias were outlawed in fascist states hence Mussolini's statement: "Everything within the state, nothing outside the state..." In the old west, there wasn't much in the form of law enforcement outside of federal Marshalls, and local sheriffs/deputies. Militias were quite often absolutely necessary to maintain order and deal with apprehending criminals. Besides, it's always people who call themselves "anti-fascists" who form street mobs and riot these days. But your video is about par for a Hicklib.

If you think the Fascists rose to power without opportunistic exploitation of simplistic arguments and mob rule it is you who need a lesson in both politics and history. And calling this gentleman the name you used merely points to the kind of mentality that gave rise to the most recent assault on western democracy that should be absolutely taken into account in the months ahead.
