When Jesus spoke in parables, some of His hearers gained insights into the kingdom of God while other listeners were left in confusion. In this sermon, R.C. Sproul continues his exposition of Luke’s gospel and reveals the important reason why Christ taught in this way.
This sermon was preached by R.C. Sproul at Saint Andrew's Chapel in Sanford, Fla. Hear more from his series in the gospel of Luke: • The Gospel of Luke: Se...

There is NOTHING anyone does to earn their own salvation. It's all because of JESUS CHRIST. This is the TRUE GOSPEL and it is actual GOOD NEWS (GOSPEL) for EVERYONE, and has been right in front of us the ENTIRE TIME!

I certainly cannot compare myself to any of these great minds. RC had a special way of explaining things and his thoughts that blow my mind at times...but at the end when he said "some call this the parable of the soil." It immediately hit me...if it wasnt for the seed the soil could do nothing...then as I pondered deeper...if the Sower hadn't went out to begin with...nothing would happen. So I feel Jesus had it right from the time it came from His mouth. I guess the point being...the greatest of minds cannot contend with The Word of The Living God. As Sproul said..."Some" call this...

And what about circumstances of life that lead people to believe? So, beside the quality of the soil there are circumstañces that effect the choice

Fascinating insight about the good soil not being inherently good. If the opposite was true … If some human hearts could leverage even a small measure of goodness, then the atonement, while sufficient to pay for our sins, would not be completely efficient to do so; there would be something for the good soil to leverage against God’s provision. It becomes “you did the rest” instead of “you paid it all”. It becomes a small subset of the total work, indeed a justifiable boast of merit next to the cross. This is not the Gospel nor the biblical view of man’s condition. While we bare the image of God and some of his attributes (intelligence, will) our capacity to present something inherently good to the analysis of Perfection must be zero. Otherwise the work of the cross is a part, not the whole; we would share in the work of atonement and have cause for boast.

@@internationalsurvivalcounc6980 Well, it's religious traditions due to over 50,000À I'll denominations and transportations. It's not straight from God, it was written by men, hence all the transactions we have.

The "falling away/apostasy." refers to the church, not the world because they have already been in a fallen state... Since much of the church will believe satan as antichrist, they will follow him, "worship" him, believing he is the real messiah... And believe his lying signs and wonders.. He's not correct in that...

What a shame😢. RC was so brilliant yet misses this parable because of his theology. The wayside, can't hear God's Word, rocky ground BELIEVERS that like it says, no root and dies and bears no fruit, thorns, BELIEVERS that care for the world and can't grow because they aren't discipled and/or don't learn the Word, good soil, BELIEVERS who receive good discipleship and learn the Word and vring forth much fruit. This real convert stuff is disgusting, we should pull weeds and dig rocks, we should fertilize (Bread of Life) and water(Living Water), but no, we treat these sick and weak young plants like they aren't or haven't been real Christians instead of caring for them lest we ourselves are tempted..... You dont just get good soil, read Genisis, it is our job to work the ground and pull the weeds, isnt that what He says?

What bible are you reading from? The one good soil referred to in the parable is the only saved soil, which is why RC Sproul alluded to conversion, Jesus says those exact words in both Luke and Matthew of this parable that only the good soil followers are true converts.
