Regarding the "And in my version she's gay" thing, I saw it more as her, a lesbian creative, creating some of the representation she would like to see in the world, than her thinking that they would be more likely to pick it up if she said it.

I took it the same way. And also it wasn't tv show or "regular" movie where it could go both ways. For superhero genre LGBT was kryptonite at the time, 5 years ago... Arguably, still is.

right?? The point of that scene was that Kelsey's finally being HONEST and GENUINE with what *she* wants to do as a director. She's no longer just saying what she thinks they want to hear. She's gay, and it'd be a special thing to get to write a gay superhero for her! His comment there threw me and not in a good way :/

This is something that went completely over my head. I genuinely just misinterpreted the tone of the scene and Kelsey. I took it as her being insincere, as in, she told the execs her version was gay because that's what *they* wanted to hear and want - not that that was her *actual* original vision. Thank you for clarifying for me!

You know, as I was editing an episode today, I thought that the turtle sounded like it. But the accent he throws on threw me off juuuuust enough 😂 that's hilarious

What’s wild to me about the Pete Repeat bit is: we literally all forgot about it. Like Bojack nearly got this teen girl killed from alcohol poisoning but the other shitty thing he did that night overshadowed it. Until now we didn’t even know if Maddy was still alive.

4:20 That bit about PB... The thing is, back in the days, like, way before this season ever aired, there was a lot of fans that were pop-diagnosing Mr. Peanutbutter like that: Depressed but suppressing it. So I think creating this story arc for him being "the face of depression" was kinda pocking fun at that! :p One thing you can say about PB, he's genuinely happy! :)

"Looks like you found some solice in our show. Stay, if you'd like. In 30 minutes we start over" I absolutley love that line. It was extra impactful, since Netflix released season 6 in two halfs, ending with episode 7.

The things Bojack did in the first half was selfless, turning a new leaf.. He acknowledged Dianne helping him, cleaned her room. Gave Princess Caroline a gift, despite it being in character. Indirectly hooked up Maud with Todd. Finally gave Mr Peanutbutter the thing he wanted the most out of him, validation and that crossover he dreamed of. Tries to move away from all the bad things by becoming a teacher. Goes to church! Hoo boy, if only we ended it here.

She herself is a lesbian and she's authentically pitching her unique ideas/vision for this movie she's being interviewed to direct. The old Kelsey would've kept her head down and not pushed for representation but this was a moment of bravery. Hearing you equate gay rep from a gay person as "pandering" kinda rubbed me the wrong way

I misinterpreted the scene and her pitch. I thought she made her version gay *because* the execs seemed uninterested and that by her giving that extra detail it'd entice them. I apologize for the misinterpretation. I appreciate you speaking up and clarifying the scene though. I recognize I got it wrong.

In case no one else told you, this season was released in 2 parts, the first 8 then 9-16 with a 3 month gap so that cliff hanger took time to pay off

If you go back to that episode with Bojack and Sarah Lynn in the AA meeting, Bojack says that line about Penny. Also the Pete Repeat reveal never fails to catch everyone so hard when they realize. You know it's unravelling.

Pete Repeat was so huge to me because I just hadn't realized how much time was really passing in the show. It goes so quick. Such a great reveal

Man Pete repeat coming back from training as Peter now to ruin our main character’s story line 😂 its crazy tough that she first hear about this from him and honestly i loved it even tough i hate the result of it.. and finally, finally!! We had our crossover episode, they really are doing the best at wrapping up this season, i love too how we just see Diane took on weight because she said she didnt want to because of it instead of showing her go get the medicine or something else lol. Man seeing your face slowly understand what the hell Peter was talking about was just so fun haha, lastly if you were wondering as you said, they got 16 episodes because the plan was for an other season im pretty sure but they managed to bargain 4 episodes more at least, ill often wonder how 7 seasons of Bojack would have turned out but im pretty sure i wouldnt trust what we have for it lol. And as always, great video man 👌😁

26:40 This episode was the season finale of Season 6 Part 1 and we had to WAIT FOR NINE MONTHS!!!!!!!! I swear it was the longest wait of my lifetime.

Season 6 is split in 2 halfs So episode 7 was supposed to be the darkest second last episode but it turned out to be the happiest and warmest one.

The thing about Paige and Max is that they speak in Translatlantic accents and wear clothing from the 40s because they are deliberately outdated to figuratively represent the past. Combined with Paige being a pig, an animal known for digging things up, she and Max are "the Past" coming back to haunt BoJack My favorite detail from 6x08 though is when Pete tells Hollyhock what happened in New Mexico. The soundtrack in the background is pulled from the boat scene in Escape from L.A.

Kelsey didn't want to make Fireflame lesbian to "pander" dude. Kelsey herself is lesbian and knows how important it is to have representation. She wants to create a superhero that young LGBTQ+ folks can look up to. Besides, there are DOZENS of male superheros who are straight. Why not make one with a different story? Gay people exist, dude.

I apologize, I misinterpreted her tone and sincerity. The way I took it was that she was doing her pitch, they seemed meh about it, and she added the last line to maybe entice them. I just read the entire scene wrong. That's my bad. Y'all have done a good job at clarifying the scene for me

I was surprised to find out how polarizing that whole bit is. I absolutely love it, and did when I first watched it too. The writing in their dialogue is so clever, the amount of wordplay and jokes the writers manage to pack into it is amazing. I'm always shocked whenever people talk about finding it annoying.
