From an old Interview (title: "HIM - Filth pig", 2003) with a journalist who visited Ville's messy flat, and Ville showed him a VHS of this gig: "... On the screen there now is a live-gig of Petersens, a cover-quintette that has done only one liveshow, on a club in Helsinki in April 1996. The Name aims to Kim Bendix Petersen, alias King Diamond, and the Repertoire contained only from the Danish terrormasters ear rings. In the main role? Ville Valo of course." Ville: "My voice might sound completely different in HIM, but I learned to sing to King Diamond. I wanted to be him for a day and spent several months trying to get it on. King Diamond heard a record from the concert and apparently liked it. One of my biggest dreams was to stand behind a veil onstage and sing his parts when he was sick with the Influenza or had a bad day." Interviewer: "Would the Finn handle it? No doubt. The falsetto is a clockwork and if it wouldn't be for the certain death-tendencies in the lower register, anyone could think it was the King himself. The outfit is very impressive and by one occasion even "Grandma" ( a dressed out friend) is rolled out on stage in a wheelchair." Ville: "I have very bad beardgrowth and I had to wear a fake moustache", the imitatior laughs. "Unfortunatly the glue didn't stick for more then 3 songs and I tried to sing "The Invisibal Guests" in a convincing way with the moustache hanging over my mouth."

Dark light would have been the perfect album to do those vocals with considering it was the the screamo era.

@@andreacrow1857 screamworks overall was what could have been a MASTERPIECE. if it wasn't for them going with squire, hilli would have made that album great! I love the album musically and how it's written, I just dont like how it sounds

@@joshd8024 It took me some time to adjust to the sonic universe of "Screamworks" (especially the sharpness of sound, if that makes any sense) but now I really like it. I guess that was the sound they wanted, and that's why they went with Matt Squire.

@@andreacrow1857 the sound was sharp, so i get your point. I think they sort of got what they wanted but, once they played the songs live, they sounded soooo much better.

Gas this is the rarest of the rare that ive seen you, Linde, and Ville perform together :) Its amazing how Ville can go very high on vocals to very low :)

You guys must have known early on that this bass player/drummer by the name of Ville Valo was something special after witnessing the range he has within his voice. Also brings up so many questions, why was Gas not in HIM from the beginning? Did Ville want to be in a black metal band? When did Gas shave his head? And will we see more things like this? And thank for this Gas, it is special for us fans!

Gas was playing in another finnish band Kyyria at the time, with future Amorphis members Santeri Kallio (Keyboards) and Niclas Etelävuori (Bass). From old photos and videos I've seen of Gas, he probably started going bald around his mid-twenties (same thig happened to me, so i know how that feels) , so he's probably wearing a wig here. I don't know if Ville ever wanted to be in a black metal band, but I know that he has cited a variety of different artists from different genres as his influences.

Nah I think that was part of the performance. Just like when you watch closely at around 13:06 circa, you can see a woman crawling around on stage. So I guess the dragging of the body off stage, was part of the show
