He's Tarinidis Panagiotis, a French powerlifter. He won the IPF Classic Worlds in 2023 in the 66kg Open weight class with a 285 kg deadlift and 705 kg total.

Quality over quantity. Some people just put a ton of weight on without actually knowing how to do the exercise properly and they are surprised when they don’t get the gains they want. He really knows what he’s doing.

Yeah and bad form is only short term and then you can have a really big problem . A girl I know is only 18 and has hernia from bad form and I and I think and hope everyone does not want that

I’ve been working on this incessantly with my deadlifts. All I can say is the “it feels lighter” is so true. Lat engagement when you get it right is like hitting a baseball with the sweet spot of a wooden bat.

When I do bench press before deadlifts, I’m always engaging the lats at the bottom of the bench, it makes the subsequent deadlifts feel silky smooth.

Yep it’s called bracing your lats. That’s what the gurus mean by “brace really hard and try to drag the bar into your body, which is also why you get the bloody shins. A lot of guys do deadlifts and the bar is 8 inches in front of their shins, if they could fix that then they’d quit cat backing it and would lift more weight given a couple of weeks.

for an amateur, especially a weekend warrior, the potential for doing irreversible damage while doing a deadlift is far far greater than the reward. i have not understood the fascination with deadlifts over the last 10 years - and it is so painful to watch all of the bad form out there. a lot of other exercises can be done without nearly as much danger.
