We took our VW California T5 campervan to a peaceful campsite in the English Lake District National Park called Dale Bottom Farm with our dog, Jack the Labrador.
Situated just outside of Keswick in North Cumbria.
It's a working farm with views to Skiddaw, Blencathra, Helvellyn range and surrounding smaller fells including several Wainwrights.
We used our new Kadai travel fire bowl to cook food, drank our favourite beer from peroni and brewdog whilst sitting around the campfire and watched the sunset.
Following several storms we hiked to St Johns in the vale church, set up in the hills, it commands epic views of the surrounding fells including High Rigg.
The campsite accommodates motorhomes, caravans, tents and camper vans, has clean facilities and walking routes straight from the site.
There are no nearby shops or restaurants so enables you to experience that old school relaxing camping vibe.
Naturally, being near Keswick, we headed into the town for a visit to Derwent water, Old Keswickian fish & chip shop and a mooch around the shops before heading home via Tebay services on the M6 for lorne and venison sausages!
We're always looking for new campsites to explore so if you have any good recommendations, please leave them in the comment section.
