“When Obamacare happened, what it did was really give more power to the insurance companies and middlemen. I saw a lot of some of the smartest doctors in my group basically retire early, leave, or go into health tech. There are people that have gone into different areas in terms of autonomy, creativity, increasing their wages, but the actual clinical practice of medicine continues to have been marginalized.”
Dr. Carrie Mendoza is an emergency medicine physician and an advocate for the depoliticization of health care and education.
“The detransitioners … There aren’t services for them … There's not even a billing code. If you don't have a billing code, you can't be in the insurance stream, right? So, you’re kind of like a non-existent person in the medical world. But yet, these are young kids who've had surgeries, or some now need hormone replacement because they've had their ovaries removed,” says Dr. Mendoza.
For years, Mendoza has been tracking the transformation of clinical medicine and the doctor-patient relationship.
“It's written into regulations that the hospital wouldn't get paid if their scores weren't at a certain number. And so, then the pressure rolls downhill,” she says.
In this episode, we dive into the impact of the administrative state on medicine and health care, and reflect on the opioid crisis and its similarities to the social contagion of transgenderism sweeping the youth today.
"The detransitioners are like the people that overdosed and were harmed by the opioids,” says Dr. Mendoza.

My Pain Management Dr I had for 15 years would not buy the computer systems needed to accept Obamacare and shut his practice down. He was such a kind, caring, and brilliant Dr. The government needs to stop interfering.

I feel for you. But I can understand why he did. I had a dr in GA that was not part of any of the computer record systems, refused to accept insurance, and ran a thriving practice. When I asked about the computer record systems, he said that they were more than happy to provide patients a copy of their medical records, but if they computerized the system, then others outside their practice could have access to those records, against the patient's wishes, and he refused to allow his patients information to subject to breach from outside sources. He further explained that the computerization of records, he felt was simply a ploy for the government to gain access without patient consent, as well as being one of the major drivers of increased costs in the healthcare industry. From the servers, to cloud services, to security protocols, to the added necessity of people to oversee all of that, and input the data. His solution: paper records, a locked filing room, with fire suppression. Cheaper and easier. When I have asked all my healthcare professionals how has the ACA & HIPPA affected their offices. One of my doctor's went from a part time insurance billing person , (20-25hours/week) to 2 fulltime employees. And they spend the bigger part of their day arguing with insurance companies. He says his charges have not increased beyond what is reasonable, but the insurance companies try and reject nearly every reimbursement that they ask for. I know my insurance company is one of those that jerk him around for months before they pay him. It makes me crazy. Why am I forced to deal with this insurer, when there are plenty other ones out there.

I lost 3 doctors who left because of Obamacare. They told me they were ending their practice. One moved out of the country, one retired. One went into research

I've worked in both the insurance side of medicine and for the last ten years, I've been working in a hospital. Obamacare is just one component that has disastrous effects for patient care. Because most hospitals are for profit, they are ran by corporate suit and tie weirdos who literally know nothing about patients. They have no medical background and then set bizarre expectations for the nurses on the floor who do the real work. The only time you see the higher ups is in some stupid corporate email patting themselves on the back about how great they are. Believe me I could go on for hours.
