That plant cost $2.4B to produce 400MW peak and an average of 114MW and is affected even by aircraft contrails. An equivalent gas fired power plant could be built for 5% of that (yes, 1/20th). It would produce power 24/7. And the footprint would be an equally small percentage. What is technically feasible doesn’t equate to fit for purpose, value for money or good for the planet. Still, if the subsidies are high enough, why the hell not?!
