Exactly! Doing any form of exercise is better than nothing and should be encouraged, not hated on. Plus women historically haven't been made to feel welcome in "normal" (men's) workout spaces, so ofc we're going to come up with other ways to exercise. The people complaining about this are so used to viewing men as the default that they can't appreciate women's ingenuity and resilience.

I’m a Sorcerer. We actually are a lot like philosophers. Except we don’t make any money, mostly live in poverty, 90% of people genuinely do not believe we’re real even though we’re literally not even all hiding just rare, and we do think deeply, intentionally, and obsessively all the time.

11:33 they call it a salon because a long time ago in history around the time of the french revolution, educated people would form "salons". They werent actually hair cut places, obviously, but instead they were small gatherings or meetings hosted by women or educated people who discussed ideas of enlightenment, industrialization, and revolution. They met in small places similar to modern salons to avoid being caught (it was like a secret society kinda thing but also not really). Over time, thats just what modern day salons ended up being called. But a philosophers salon is pretty much a place where philosophers communicate ideas and talk. And dont hate me for this definition cuz i know its not 100% right, but we talked abt them briefly in my global class and thats whay i rememeber

You're totally correct! Especially they gathered popularity in the years of enlightenment in France. Also, very interestingly they also were a place a lot of young women could get informal education and share/discuss serious political/philosophical topics. It was a very interesting part of that period!

@@domicofo quite a lot of people never knew about the classic plots like Cyrano de Bergerac, or sometimes even Odyssey... Also a lot of non-EU people have hard time knowing a lot of 17th-18th century history except something super basic like French Revolution. Unfortunately with current state of education if you're yourself not interested in the topic, school is least helpful. And knowing how teachers are severely underpaid, the only thing i can blame is the system itself and bad funding. I myself found out about salon their origin and importance only because I regularly visit wikpedia and randomly stumbled there while reading about first suffrage movements....

The philosophy salon is funny but I kind of feel bad. One of the guys in the tiktok makes great KZfaq videos about literature and philosophy, he doesn’t use big words or anything, he just expresses his love for reading. The whole internet clowning them for trying to explore their niche. Of course it’s a performative, they are all 18-22 yrs old.

Yeah I'm actually kind of mad that Kurtis making fun of this as well because they aren't doing anything wrong they're just having fun. If anything, we can use more of this kind of stuff on every platform people talking to each other and learning from each other I took a little bit of philosophy in high school, and the entire point of the class was that we taught our stories to each other that we had learned, and then would have conversations about the lessons I learned a ton about philosophy those days, and also how your personal philosophy frames your entire life and worldview, and if you don't examine those things it can go badly

as someone who is physically disabled (i have ehlers danlos syndrome. it effects my joints so i experience a lot of dislocations n stuff) but that bungee workout would actually help make working out more accessible cuz it would take the load off my joints, which would allow me to actually work out. so. take that into consideration you stinky little angry internet trolls

yes, thats exactly what i was thinking! A lot of "weird" workouts that, in this case, middle aged people do are like that because its not as hard on the joints. Going for a run seems like the easy choice to a lot of people, but its so rough on the joints its insane. And working out in a group is also just an oppurtunity to have fun together, and bungee-ing around sure seems like a lot more fun that jogging normally in a group

I have EDS and was thinking that too.. Older people wont be as able-bodied as younger people so it makes perfect sense they'd not be doing benchpresses or something, + fun workouts could be easier to get into the routine of doing

yes!! im in the process of getting an heds diagnosis and am plus size, so joint issues come easily to me lol , but i would literally love to do the bungee workouts. as you said, its def much easier on the joints, and they might help with stamina throughout the day especially for me. but yeah, its also fun!! makes me less insecure when theres a higher chance of ppl who struggle with similar issues there.

There's plants growing inside of it, which give shelter to microfauna(bugs), which in turn eat any mold that begins to grow on the plants, which benefits both the gecko and the plants. If it was a closed terrarium, it would also replicate the water cycle. However, due to the fact that vertebrates are known to need air, this cannot happen.

Help I have a Philosophy hyperfixiation and I think I should add that most philosophers were also astronomists or mathematicians, like actual geniuses ( Pitágoras, Heráclito, Hepatia etc... made great discoveries that nowadays are considered foundations for chemistry and medicine ). Also being a philosopher back then was actually pretty uncommon because everyone used to justify everything with magic and deities.

Pre-Socratics especially ya, and a lot of the dark age/ enlightenment philosophers like Leibniz. It’s less common now with career philosophers unfortunately, and people seeing philosophy as a separate discipline rather than something all humans take part in when they contemplate :/

the guy who only owned a bowl is diogenes one of the main founders of cynicism btw also there were tons of philosophers in ancient greece if you consider all the students of the big ones philosophers (which they are imo) and a 'heyday' of philosophy doesnt really exist you have dozens of movements that exist all throughout time and philosophy has always been incredibly important and still is so i feel like the salon is kind of cute, but i get why people are finding it performative (i'd 100% go tho talking about shit while dressing up sounds fun as hell)

i always listen to a white noise podcast on spotify while i sleep, but sometimes i forget to turn on the loop setting. on these occassions, because all of my listened to podcasts are saved in the same playlist, i get woken up my the loudass very really good intro once the white noise ends. just scared shitless out of my rem sleep by the jazzy piano. thanks a lot kurtis, i blame you entirely

I love streaming tons, but I feel like it’s because I’m just little, people see me play games and thats it, real life isn’t meant to be online. Small streams are like friends hanging out. I can totally imagine it being overwhelming and too much when you have the amount of live viewers Kurt Cobain would have. Then it’s chat chaos

"salon" is french for like. living room. or drawing room. artists and writers and stuff used to gather in private rooms to talk about their art and stuff, which is why "salon" stuck around.
