When people try to get a rise out of you, out weirding them works absolute wonders. An old boomer I work with loves starting confrontations for attention, I started being really weird in those times a few months ago, now he never even tries. 10/10 can recommend.

Comedian Markus Krebs starts babbling midsentence when answering annoying, talkative drunks, slurring like a bad phone connection... works well in other situations, too;o) "No, yesterday I was froetn__ sll and then sllzbmmmzz all morning."

@@mr.whatislove3620 I do this often, it depends on the person and circumstance - but the Wayne's World approach is always a good go to; 'Why do they come to me to die? Why do they come to me?!' (Bursting out into Bohemian Rhapsody or belting any iconic song in full force works well too) "Have you heard the..." "🎶When the mooooon is in the seventh houuuse, and Jupiter aligns with Marsssss🎶 (Or the 1-2 unexpected followed by nonsense answer) "You know what's wrong with this country?" "People asking rhetorical questions?" "... no" "The shape! I mean the main part is pretty okay, New England's kind of a mess and the Midwest is sorta samey, but that mitten one is cute and Florida - well, I mean, everyone knows Florida is just hilarious so *that's* great... But Alaska... and HAWAII? COME ON! Get with the program, amirite? Alaska is up there smashed in a totally different country and who *even knows* where Hawaii *really* is! We can't even have a simple map! Nooooooo. There have to be special squares for the "special" states that think they are too good to be next to the likes of *us* the REAL *United* States... Not scattered around in the middle of the ocean somewhere like crumbs in a bowl of milk. Get it together Hawaii! We didn't put all that work conquer- uhm, 'civilizing' you just so you can have spam and act like citizens (though, after seeing Keanu Reeves in a movie I may be having second thoughts and now considering that Hawaiians might be people... but that's a different topic.) What I'm saying is that this country is a *MESS* it's even hard to trace! We should write a letter." Them: (If they haven't left) "Are...? Milk and spam...? Whh...? Wait. Keanu Reeves isn't white?!?"

My favourite way to deal with difficult people is to be _painfully_ pleasant to them. 9/10 times they eventually get worn down enough by my niceties that they start being nice back.

That must work because it was my go-to in retail, and usually customers met me at the same level. In reality I’m just autistic and social situations are hard, so I just clung to the “Oh hello what can I do for you” script hard 😂

The check and send service is a con, they always claim something is wrong so they can avoid any liability. I took my photo 4 times on the machine, when I gave up a sent it off against thier recommendation there was no problem.

I have a friend like that who is very intelligent but just doesn't give two shits about what other people think of him. He's very direct which a lot of people don't like but I think is hilarious and refreshing. Claire sounds just like him

If you replace she with they in his script you will see that he's finding the humour in common human behaviour, not belittling women for wearing heels. He speaks of what he sees when that particular friend tries to walk in heels whilst drunk. Calm analysis provides a lot of insight.
