In summary of the whole narrative, britain should be held accountable for all calamities that befell us as a country. Non of the british colonies knew peace as they left. India and pakistan are glaring instances of the british devide and rule strategem including nigeria. The only solution is regional autonomy politically and economically, resources control, devolution of central power , true federalism, confederacy, or self determination as the case may be.

Gowon was senior to Ojukwu. Gown actually joined the Army several years before Ojukwu and was commissioned 2/Lt. on October 19, 1955 (his 21st birthday). But Ojukwu's date of commission was backdated to September 22, 1955 on account of his University degree. Gowon became a Lt. on September 9, 1957, 13 days before Ojukwu. But Ojukwu became a Captain on September 22, 1961, just shy of one month before Gowon became a Captain. On March 7, 1963 Oiukwu was promoted Major, two days before Gowon. However, both men became Lt. Cols. on the same day.
@gerardonochie34085 жыл бұрын
The TVC presenter has misled viewers with his FALSE statement at 14:10 onwards and I am surprised Mr Isama has feigned ignorance. Ojukwu's main concern was safety for Igbos being butchered across the country, also the fact that since Maj. gen Ironsi had been killed the next most senior army officer was Brig General Ogundipe who mysteriously was no where to be found when he should have taken over. If Ojukwu harboured any such ambitions then he would have not been instrumental in suppressing the first coup in the North. How do I know this? I was fortunate enough to have met the late Lt. Col Nwawo GOC 4th Area Command MidWest Region.

The Fulanis to the north are minorities, they conquered the north, most especially the Hausas and enslaved them. The Fulanis have a well known agenda and that is to also conquer and dominate the south and enslave southerners just like they have enslaved the Hausas. Why is it that Boko Haram is still in existence? Why is it that the Fulani herdsmen are able to carry AK47’s openly and roam the entire country without being disarmed by the Fulani man in office or the law enforcement agencies? To the north, all of the Emirs from Kano to Ilorin are all Fulanis. Wake up Nigeria, we are living in very troubled times. Nigeria’s problem is leadership.

Since Lagos was the Nigeria's capital in 1967 and Nigeria launched the first attack on Biafra, where did you expect Biafra to attack? Kano, Kaduna, Jos, Maiduguri or Lagos? Ironsi did not jettison regional constitution/federalism. When Ironsi came to power, Nigeria had 4 regions that were self-reliant and when he was murdered in the counter coup, Nigeria still had 4 regions. When Ironsi came to power, Nigeria had fiscal federalism and when he was murdered, Nigeria still maintained fiscal federalism. So can you tell me how Ironsi jettisoned regional constitution. Gowon/Awolowo administration destroyed Nigeria's federalism. I guess this truth is too complex for you to decipher.

The Sardauna Ahmadu Bello coined the phrase HausaFulani, so the caliphate used both the hausa and islam to weild political power. Middle belt and the Kanuris had always been against the caliphate. Then the Igbos (Zik and Ironsi) wanted the full control of Nigeria, hence the unitary system by Ironsi and alliances by Zik and Zik's opposition to Awo requesting regional succession clause .
