Immediately after getting my '60 Roadster in January 1968 I asked out this beautiful girl for the first time. While we were out in freezing rain the windshield wipers quit. When we got to her house my eyebrows were frozen from driving withy head out the window.

This is one of the most refreshing videos I have seen, where the car is used exactly as it was meant to be used, rather than being stashed away, never to see the light of day again. This is exactly how I drove my 1959 356-Porsche in the early 70's on back roads as well. Drifting joyfully through corners on dirt or gravel roads, such fantastic memories, Will Roegge. Thanks for sharing not only the video, but your wisdom as well. :-)

So much respect for the owner. I mean, cars are made to be driven, even the classic, rare cars. 80% of rare classic Porsches, Ferraris, Lamborghinis etc never see daylight. Such a shame.

For the love of Porsches! I get it. Owned both a 1956 356A and a 1956 Karman Ghia for quite a while. They shared a lot of DNA and were surprisingly similar in driving dynamics, the 356A having lots more power. Both weighed about the same, had very similar suspension, and both featured a beautifully hand crafted light but strong unibody. Driving them reminded me of piloting a small airplane. A series of hot rod motors got that ancient 356A up to 145 mph. Not bad for 1974. I could match the top speed of the fastest stock American cars ( Corvette, Challenger, GTO). Those were the days!

Driving a classic car, getting away from civilization and out into the woods/country really is the closest thing to a time machine I can think of. Especially driving an old rear-engined car in the snow. "Being transported to another era," as he says, is one of the best experiences you can have driving a car.

Those skinny tires are so great in the winter! I had a Tercel that would outmaneuver all the fancy buggers in big SUVs. Just tiny little 165s. Then in my 240SX I would run 205s in the summer, and 185s in the winter. What fun!

Skinny tires on that car in the snow is the way to go! I learned to drive in a Cal Look 66 VW in Northern New Jersey on snow and ice. I had 135/15 tires on the front. Never put it into a tree. Now I have a 78 911 SC with sticky Dunlops. I hope I have the same outcome.

I have never had that thought pass through, that at sea-level you have better horses than that at Colorado or where I'm at in Minnesota. At least that's what I thought was said, I'm trying to keep quiet not to wake my room mates. Where could I start learning a bitty more about this? I'm interested, I'll just start at like Bing, searching Altitude Differences in Cars.
@Tenktory
@Tenktory 10 жыл бұрын
Petrol engine needs (no surprise) gasoline and air to work. At high altitude air pressure drops down. Yet, the air to fuel ratio has to remain the same. So you've got less air to use while driving. That means that to remain already mentioned air to fuel ration engine uses less gasoline. Thus power is decreased. It also varies with air temperature. Basic physics.

These cars are made to do this stuff. It absolutely kills me when i see sports cars being stored and never driven like this, just sitting there rusting... It's different if the car is worth a ton of money, but why even own it if you aren't going to have fun with it? Just look at it when you open your garage?

Colton Holiday Did you only enjoy it when driving fast? Driving my Roadster through the north Georgia mountains home from college I found it didn't matter whether I drove 65 or 50; It took 90 minutes. The difference was I didn't have to slam on brakes when pickup truck driving farmers pulled out onto the two-lane highway. Don't worry, I have always speeded up for curves. I just see no real reason to go fast on straights. Anyone can do that.
