Comic/movie stuff aside I hope everyone is staying indoors during the Coronavirus pandemic. Regardless today I wanted to look towards the future and speculate about the HBO Green Lantern show, in all honesty I have little faith Greg Berlanti will give us anything better than another CW show, but fingers crossed I guess :) Let me know what you'd do with a GL show !!

It’s honestly my most hyped project for dc at the moment. I’m a big GL comic fan.

The main thing I want them to achieve is to make the characters truely likeable, and for them not to get lost in the vast cosmos established. I’m terms of stories, there are so many great GL story arcs that could take place over seasons, eg, the Sinestro War, The Red Lanterns origin, Blackest Night and Brightest Day, and maybe even a version of Emerald Twilight at some point of they’re feeling brave

I agree I’ve always wanted green lantern to adapt the theme of free will and fate. Since it makes sense as they are all utilise their own willpower for actions. One of Hal Jordan defining characteristics is that he is fuelled by freedom. So how would it be if he was confronted by the notion that he’s just a pawn in the wheel of fate and he’s just a puppet. It would be heartbreaking for him. I’ve always wanted this storytelling theme in green lantern stories

Guy and Guy. Just Guy. Replace everyone with Guy. Make the Main Green Lantern Guy. Make every Green Lantern Guy. Make the villain Guy. Make the Guardians tiny Guy Gardners and call them Gardnians. And at the end cap it all off with a Guy VS Guy fight. Alternatively I'm also accepting of Guy and Lobo

GL is one of my top favorite characters in the DC world along with Batman and Flash. As of now I always loved the power of the Green lantern. Creating constructs with a powerful object but I get the true power which is will. I take this as a real lesson nothing can't be accomplished unless you have the will to push on. Hal is my favorite member no question but for this series I want all lanterns to get some shine and show off the power of the Corp. I can't wait for this. Hopefully it's done right. Not just visuals but the story of being a lantern.

This show how’s soooooo much potential, but it needs to be a master of one thing: pace. The idea of jumping through the careers of multiple Lanterns sounds like an amazing idea for one season, but if that’s going to be the standard for the show in following season then it’s really needs to manage its character development and connections. To clarify, there ARE enough green lanterns to continuously jump from career to career-Hal, John, Guy, Kyle, Jessica, Simon just to name the human ones-but audiences want to become invested in the characters. This show has a unique opportunity to explore the galaxy, and everything that comes with it; but the producers cannot allow the scope to be an excuse for poor characterization.

Honestly just image 3 whole seasons developing Hal and Sinestro's characters, with Sinestro becoming a yellow lantern in the finale of season 3. Every character developed, big scale worldbuilding.

you forgot Kyle Rayner. How did you leave Kyle out when he is arguably the most powerful lantern. He's become Ion several times and the white lantern. He also gained the life equation from the source wall. Bruh pay your respects.

I would love to see an episode in the show where the Corp is reacting after Krypton's destruction and seeing Superman since i love to see the time when Superman is in a Green Lantern setting and he has the ring or is interacting with the Guardians or i would just love to see Alan Scott in live action and meeting the Corp since i dont believe we ever saw him do that even though he is a Green Lantern

All I've wanted out of any production company bold enough to take over the mantle since the inception of the GL movie is nothing short of a masterpiece, if you're telling me there's a chance the we can finally see the grand scale of comic book pages finally get reflected to any screen at all then I'm an entirely for it and hope to god it can come to fruition.

While it’s true that Greg Berlanti produces the cow dc shows, he also produced all the live action dc universe shows which are now hbo max shows, including doom patrol which is one of the best superhero shows of all time and doesn’t have the problems the cw has.

Lanterns Hal Jordan and John Stewart, two Green Lanterns (intergalactic heroes who wear rings that give them extraordinary powers), investigate a mystery on Earth. Gunn confirmed in December 2022 that the Green Lantern characters would be an important part of the new DCU. When he and Safran unveiled the first projects from their DCU slate later that month they included Lanterns, a new iteration of a long-in-development Green Lantern series. Safran said the series would be an Earth-based detective story and "a huge HBO-quality event" in the style of the series True Detective (2014-present). Safran said the mystery that Jordan and Stewart investigate in the series leads into the main storyline for the DCU.

Great ideas mate! They really need to do it justice, and with that budget, on HBO, it looks like the right direction. Would be cool to see Kyle Raynor as the main Lantern perhaps, with Hall and John being mentors, and they can adapt Sinestro War storyline, just to change it up from the 2011 movie if they want. But if its anything like Watchmen in quality then it gonna be PHENOMENAL!

honestly...anyone besides Hal Jordan. Kyle Rainer is my favorite comic wise (he's just all around better than the others) or John Stewart who is my favorite media adapted lantern (excellent in Justice league and Justice league unlimited, many peoples favorite character in the cartoon). Finally...this shit needs to be a cartoon. They can barely do terrestrial heroes correctly on the crappy CW shows, so I don't expect green lantern to be done well seeing that 90% is going to be CG. Like its hard enough to make a 100 million dollar movie about the character, I dont know what makes them think they can make a live action show work.

It's a shame it's already looking like they're squandering the potential for this show. They're shoehorning so many characters into the show (specifically human ones). The movie already had a hard time balancing the cosmic side of GL with the earth side, I don't know how they'll pull it off.

I’d hope it wouldn’t fall into the traps of telling stories people have heard 1000 times. That’s one of the advantages GLTAS had, it was paired with a movie telling Hal’s origin so they could skip the appetizer and go right to the main course. And I feel like they’re are a couple things they could do to make battles where the opponents can create anything feel more real. One of those is the more you feel an emotion, the more opaque your constructs are and vice versa. You could instantly tell that since atrocitous makes constructs that are a deep red that you can’t see through at all, he is a lot more angry then one of the minor or comic relief lanterns is willful. And of course these could change with the emotions of the fights too. Hal becomes reinvigorated and suddenly his constructs become more and more opaque. And of course actual fighting styles have to be different. Maybe some lanterns resort to the same constructs, some always go for the biggest and flashiest like guy Gardner. The concepts of personality effecting how you fight and your powers is really big nowadays. Lastly I’d suggest that they slowly build up the amount of corps. Season 1 is just greens and yellows, introduce 1 or two more the next season, ect. If you try to do everything, you’ll accomplish nothing. Simple.

Ever since it was announced I have been excited for this show. Just imagine the Lantern Corp War being on a show & not rushed in a 2hr film.. I like the casting for hal. I would choose diggle from arrow [if they lanterns are in the same universe] for John stewart. If this show is in another universe than I'll love to see a Idris Elba or new actor. I'll admit when I hewes berlanti was producing it I got nervous ,I love the arrowverse but if I was to base a future green lantern show off what I've seen then I would be disappointed in what could have been. Hopefully as mentioned in articles the production will be a step up from the shows & be more intuned with the hbo shows you mentioned.

After the first season have some series based on the b and c team lanterns in an office like setting like show them basically being firemen of the universe and have it be a comedy base could be a animated series or live action

I just want them to really flesh out and make the other lanterns cool, not just Earth's lanterns. I wanna see Tomar Re, Kilowog, Ch'p, Arkkis Chummuk, Galius Zed not just dying in the background but being badass and having character and personality

I just hope they make sure to lean in to the cosmic mythology that green lantern has and really make it a space saga.I also want justice for atrocitus he is an insanely deep villain who should be someone people feel an understanding towards because he is a blood mage broken by his loss remade into an embodiment of rage.His backstory is so detailed that it honestly could merit a miniseries but i hope give it the time it needs

I'm quite concerned due to HBO less than lastest work (westworld season 2&3, watchmen, game of thrones last season) and the producer involved, also it's production might be in jeopardy due to the virus. James Marsden was my Hal Jordan choice for a long time as well, I go back and forth between him and Ashton Kutcher. I chose Ashton because I prefer when artist depict Hal with brown eyes (only brown eyed member of the OG justice leauge), so I went with the brown eyed tv actor. I know he gets type cast as dumb pretty boys but he can do other roles. Plus he plays a character with a similar personality to Hal on Netflix's the Ranch.

I wouldn’t mind them introducing Hal and John but not as main characters bring them in as there like legends the ones you only get to hear about but not see a lot of. Until towards the later seasons. Very much show us guy and Kyle’s adventures. Give us a look of two new lanterns but make sure non fans know who Hal and John are and make it so they become so intriguing non fans want to know who they are and that will open a door for a film with these characters

I want this show to be like this. Season 1 starts with Hal's origin and is Mentored by Sinestro and season 1 ends with Hal facing Sinestro. Have the red lanterns be the main antagonists of season 1. Season 2 starts with them introducing Jonathan Stewart.

Id do the seasons like so Season 1: abin sur & sinestro Season 2: hal & john Season 3 guy & kyle Season 4 simon & jessica The begining half of each season would be introduction and transition done organically with small cameos or references in the previous season. Each season would be buddy cop style with a main villain for each pair preferably a character both said lanterns have connections in the comics( season 1: manhunters, season 2 sinestro & yellow lanterns, season 3 parelax and red lanterns, season 4 volthoom) if they did season 5 it be blackest night and brightest day.

Kyle Rayner seems necessary to this show, his origin could change but I’ve always felt that he’s been left out of the mainstream media other than that one Superman TAS episode. And maybe JL Doom, haven’t watched it though.

I love Diggle on Arrow. Would love him to become Green Lantern but I can’t see them doing the Lanterns right. I am not sure I want to see this series in the first place.

I wasn't aware of the plot concept for the show, but it sounds really cool. Not a big fan of the producer involved, which leaves me skeptical. I can appreciate things about the CW shows, but they're for a very particular audience and feel very network TV and soap opera-y in all of the worst ways. Sure, a lot of comics are that way too, but at their best, they balance out the melodrama with scale, stakes amd depth. After hearing the pitch, I personally hope that this series focuses on the characters and the idea of legacy on an intergalactic scale, and as much as I'd love to see things like the Red Lanterns and Yellow Lanterns, I don't want them to gloss over the non-lantern heroes and villains. The Green Lanterns don't just fight the other Lanterns. They police entire corners of the known universe. They're beat cops who go after all manner of criminal, terrorist, warlord and the like. Seeing the Green Lanterns trying to contain the intergalactic spread of a Borg-like Starro conquest or dealing with someone like Despero could be interesting. Idk if I want this to be the first season, assuming there are more, but how cool would it be if they did eventually do a Game of Thrones-style story with a bunch of feuding Lantern Corps being forced to band together to defeat a villain like Nekron and the Black Lanterns. That would be awesome. I'm skeptical, but I have high hopes for this series and want it to do well. What makes everything especially interesting is the are the rumors that AT&T want to take advantage of the Multiverse concept and that HBO Max might be the place where they do things like contjnuing Zack Snyder's vision of the DCU. Green Lantern is looking like he will appear in the Snyder Cut like he originally intended. Like or dislike this vision for DC, it could be interesting if they spun out this GL series out of the Snyder Cut of Justice League.

I'm hoping the Green Lantern HBO Max series ties in with HBO Max Zach Snyder's Justice League mini series. If Justice League comes out first and introduces HBO Max Green Lantern that would be epic. Can you imagine reshoots with Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Henry Cavill and possibly even Ben Affleck for an 8 part HBO Max saga featuring the introduction to Darkseid and hopefully Hal Jordan (James Marsden) ? Fans would be flabbergasted

I wanna like a bunch of narrative sand perspectives for all of the lantern corps similar to how GOT used to bounce between different parts of Westeros and the politics and characters occurring in those parts but at the same time keep Hal and the Green Lanterns the center of attention as the show is titled Green Lantern and not Lantern Corps. I want Sinestro and his descent in to madness to take place over a season or two so that he has a strong character arch. I think the wait time for him to join the Yellow Lanterns would be ten times more exciting that way. And plz for the love of god capture him as the anti hero he should be and not the typical villain. Ganthet, Kilowag, Tomar-re, Buddika, should also be in the show and play a huge part. A villain for the fir at season shouldn’t be Parallax, Hammond, and def not Sinestro. Canjar Ro makes the most sense. Underrated villain and very misused.

Even though I like some of the cw arrowverse shows there not great but not bad either I even really enjoy 2 of there shows, but I hope this GL show will be good because it has so much going for it.

Green lantern could work with 100 mil dollars with 12 episode, have 8 episodes be the green lantern done justice, and 4 episodes being low budget character pieces

I only hope they will re-introduce and feature in some way (even as cameos) Aya and Razer from Green Lantern TAS. As I don't think we will ever get a season 2. At least have Aya be a Lantern, like in the Smallville Season 11 comics. There are so many Lanterns, one of them could easily be her.

Super frame I need to ask you a question why do people hate John Stewart Green Lantern

In order to make Green lantern truly great and interesting is to have him fight enemies on earth. If they do space fights, need to be in some weird planet. Not floating around in space. I love the idea of being able to create anything with your imagination but DC really disappointed me by not pushing this superhero. I want to see more of him but they refuse to do so. They might as well sell him to marvel.

Unrelated to the video tho , out of all the cw shows , arrow and legdnds of tomorrow (legedns is a great parody that is aware of itself) are the only cw dc shows i respect.

For me learning the mistakes of 2011 GL movie 3 things need to happen 1) great dialogue no mediocre scripts 2) Really dig in to the mythos : Parallax, Red Lantern Blackest Night ,etc e.g. a template should be the animated movie Green Lantern Emerald Knights , follow that. 3) Special Effects do not skimp on this ,the problem with 2011 movie was the effects were no good and not a lot. This a space movie but they were in space only 30 % percent of the movie doesn't make sense crank it to 80- 90 percent and it will be a success
