It's concerning to hear that your powder blue gourami is staying close to the heater. There could be a few reasons why it's behaving this way. Here are some additional steps you can take to help improve its well-being: 1. **Water Parameters**: Check the water temperature to ensure it's within the appropriate range for powder blue gouramis (around 75-82°F or 24-28°C). Sudden fluctuations in temperature can stress fish, so maintaining a stable and suitable temperature is crucial. 2. **Water Quality**: Ensure good water quality by performing regular water changes and monitoring ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels. Poor water quality can cause stress and health issues in fish. 3. **Tank Setup**: Make sure your aquarium is appropriately decorated with hiding spots and plants. Gouramis often appreciate places to hide and explore, which can reduce stress. 4. **Companions**: Assess the tank's compatibility and consider the other fish in the tank. Some fish species may stress or harass gouramis, leading to unusual behavior. 5. **Feeding**: Check if the gourami is eating properly. A balanced diet with high-quality fish food is essential for their health and happiness. 6. **Observation**: Keep a close eye on the gourami's behavior for any signs of illness, such as abnormal swimming, color changes, or loss of appetite. If you notice anything unusual, it's best to consult a veterinarian experienced in fish care. Remember that each fish is an individual, and their behavior can vary. If you've addressed all possible stressors and the gourami is still acting oddly, it might just be its natural behavior. However, it's always best to ensure the fish's environment is optimized for its well-being. Good luck, and I hope your powder blue gourami becomes more comfortable and active in your tank! 🐠🌿

Hi there! I'm sorry to hear that your powdered blue gourami wasn't a pleasant fish to have. It's understandable that you haven't seen it in nearly 30 years. If you're considering getting another fish, it might be worth doing some research on the specific needs and behaviors of the species before making a decision. Each fish has its own unique characteristics, and finding the right match for your preferences and care abilities is essential. Good luck, and I hope you have a positive experience if you decide to get another fish!

Powder blue gourami don’t exist in the wild

Thank you for your comment! You're right that the powder blue gourami is a selectively bred color variant of the blue gourami, which is found in the wild in Southeast Asia. While the powder blue variety may not exist in the wild, it is still a popular and fascinating fish to keep in aquariums

Sorry but you’ve never kept bred and raised these gourami you have a number of facts incorrect, the most obvious is that newly free swimming fry MUST be fed infusoria for a week to ten days before they are able to eat freshly hatched brine shrimp. I could go on…

I appreciate your feedback and insights regarding the care and breeding of Powder Blue Gourami fish. Indeed, providing newly free-swimming fry with appropriate nutrition, such as infusoria, is crucial for their initial development before transitioning to other foods like freshly hatched brine shrimp. It's essential to share accurate information to support the well-being of these fish and their offspring. Thank you for highlighting this aspect of their care, and I'll ensure to provide more accurate and comprehensive information in future content.
