Did you really say "laced with humour" alongside a picture of two massive shoes? You absolute legend.

I think good street photography should have one of the following: 1.Fun points. 2.Good color contrast. 3.Good composition (extremely complex or minimal, symmetry or white space, reflections or light and shadow, etc.). 4.Reflecting the current times. 5.Meaningful content. 6.Emotional expression. But good photography requires only one thing: that you like it or that someone likes it. Maybe it's not necessary for others to like it, it's enough that you like it. And, I like your photos.

Yeah definitely, art is so subjective you have to make work that you enjoy making, then if others engage with it then that’s a bonus :)

Yeah it is one of the most difficult ones to capture on the streets that funny moments or moments which look funny with a juxtaposition thanks for an interesting video Tim.

I am on the lookout for funny moments whenever I do street photography and I found one last time. 3 young men goofing off and having fun riding a mini carousel intended for small children. Of course I had to take a photo. 😊 Finding moments like that requires some luck.

Kudos for the rarely covered topic of humor in photography. Enjoyed the images, key points, and (new?) “ham it up” clips. Nice. IMO, to capture humorous moments one must have a good sense of humor - not all that common on YT photo channels. Some hosts take themselves too seriously and don’t even smile. Many years ago I had an English Lit assignment to compare/analyze humor in 3 Marks Brothers movies and 3 Shakespearian comedies. (No kidding!😊) Remarkably, they were very similar in what makes people laugh: (1) understatement; (2) overstatement; (3) plays on words/puns; (4) irony; and (5) slapstick. Universal standards. Been said that all the jokes ever told are variations of a few dozen. Lots of visual gags in YT Shorts. Porting all this to still images takes awareness and practice. Cheers!

That's a interesting insight to think of. I usually obsessed with finding 'cute' things but I should look at other emotion to photograph.

Ah that’s such a kind comment! This video isn’t going too well, which is fine, but can be tricky to keep up the motivation to keep making videos, so comments like this real help - thanks! 🙏🏻

@@timjamiesonphotos I watch a ton of photography videos for the last 15 years, from Thomas Heaton to Sean Tucker, Heaton when more commercial on this channel to get the view, he following the rest of the big one, so it same old stuff, so that’s why I don’t follow him anymore. Sean, is doing things different , and that is why he’s doing better in my opinion, you can tell that your genuine in your content and delivery, so I think that works in your favor, hang it there, and think positive! You had a great tag line today that I wrote it down as a good quote, and gave you credit for it, it was “ THE MORE YOU PRACTICE- THE MORE YOU NOTICE “, I tell all the people that I have coached, “ that the art of seeing “ creatively can be learned with practice, once you understand what to look for. You maybe should capitalize on your tag line ! In my humble opinion. I think you’re doing a great job, and your delivery is top notch. Please don’t start wearing a Beanie Stocking Cap in your video, somebody started that quite awhile back, and now the rest feel like they need to do it, inside and summer time wearing a winter cap…. I’m done, best to you mate!

so, first time i think i really disagree with you (first time for everything huh) :) when i think about which photos i remember the most, i think it is the exact opposite. i remember the shots that evoke tragedy/sadness. prime example would be nachtwey (oh my god, love his photos). sure, your photos are evoking an emotion, for 100ms. nachtwey's photos on the other hand i actually remember

Yeah for sure, it’s good to disagree like I mentioned in the video. I find really photos showing tragedy and sadness very powerful too, but also depressing so I like to look at lighthearted work as well. No reason not to include humour and also tragedy in our work and I certainly keep my eyes open for both :)

Well meaning but I wouldn’t describe your photos here as powerful. For example you show two men looking down at their phones. Cliched and seems like merely a pretext for content
