There were a number of Volkswagens on the show before they went all American in 1992, but there have been lots since Drew Carey took over.

That was a very enjoyable episode. TPIR at it's finest. Bob was in top form, wonderful contestants, Johnny Olsen, Edd Kalehoff music cues, a less flirty Dian, Queen Janice, and the incomparable Anitra Ford.

No, there were probably two reactions combined: it was a mix of herself thinking "I can't believe I won the showcase!" and "I can't believe I was THAT close at winning both showcases". Other than that, she looked so happy to win on the show, whether a Double Showcase win or not.

One of the first times with the Hour Power opening titles, that would stay that way in one way or another until as late as 1984 (although by 1981 in Season 10 different titles began to be used).

I’m assuming that in the latter, Carey era (I don’t watch because I find him dull because you can tell he’d always rather be anywhere than in the Bob Barker Studio) one, you’re trying to say that contestant was exactly *$250* under ARP and not *$100* as in the other cases, correct?

Fast forward all the way to 2/1/2019, the Super Bowl 53 special, and it HAPPENED AGAIN. A contestant MISSED a DSW by $1, this time, under the current "$250 and under" rule.
