issue w calorie counting stems from over simplification of thermodynamic principles.... kind of like concepts revolving around "gravity" or "molecular shapes", for 99.9% of ppl what u learn in middle school is a good enough explanation.... but as you delve further into the topic you find nuances and intricacies that contradict lot of what is taught.... effectively "disproving" initial statements that rely either on bold assumptions, or just to make enough sense to comprehend further details without adding further layers of complex analysis. i.e engineers v physicists or doctors v food biochemists.
