In this video, we’re going to talk about the problems with eating kale.
There are a lot of really amazing benefits of kale, such as:
• It has potential anti-cancer effects
• It has potential anti-estrogenic effects
• It can help clean up the liver
• It’s loaded with nutrients
But, there can also be a few problems with eating kale for some people.
1. It can deplete iodine (sea kelp may help counter this issue)
2. It can have too much fiber (try other vegetables) *if you’re bloated because of too much fiber, it can be difficult to lose weight.

Kale is super healthy but if you are not used to a rich fibre food I would introduce it first in small amounts. Not only kale but all sorts of green leafy vegetables, broccoli, beets, beans lentils etc… as your gut flora adapts to the higher fibre content you’ll feel less bloated. :) just be persistent and always eat in small amount all types of vegetables and as you get used to it you can increase the quantity. :)

@@eliaspkay oh yes. You can make smoothies out of kale or eat it raw in salad. But because the leaf is a bit harder some people might not like it much. You can steam it to make it more tender.

Yep, I am one of the 20% who can't digest kale. I was on a kale kick last summer and made a juice of kale, carrot, ganny smith apple, fennel and ginger. Well after 4 days of stomach indigestion I learned my lesson. No kale for me. I learned that kale is in the cruciferous family which I can't digest any of them as well. I take a probiotic but nothing was going to digest that kale. I make my green shake with organic powdered wheatgrass juice. I use spinach in my quiche recipe and in salads, but No kale!

WHAT IN GOD'S NAME SHOULD I EAT TO BE HEALTHY? Eliminated all the conventional meat and dairy, replaced them with organic staff. Eliminated all the grains and sugar, replaced them with green leafy vegetables. I have been chewing spinach and in one of your videos you said it contains oxalate, which causes kidney stones. Fine, switched over to Kale and now this video ... I have been struggling with acne for many years and I know only one thing that does not cause the break outs - WATER. Don't take me wrong, I don't mind drinking water but you know ... I need some food as well. I am 22 years of age, don't drink alcohol, don't smoke, swim, practice judo, workout. when you are home, work up to more raw. you can always pack a cooler with salads and juices, especially if you have an electric one you can plug into in your truck. you can juice and freeze, then put in cooler and will last a few days at least. otherwise, snacks like raw nuts and seed that have been soaked and dehydrated are good. takes prep, but worth the effort. try to focus on small changes otherwise you get overloaded. and stay hydrated!

You can get constipated from too much fibre for sure. In fact it can be the leading cause of constipation. If your having problems with your gut, make sure to thoroughly research the difference between soluble had insoluble fibre. 9 out of 10 GP's will just tell you "eat more fibre" without having a clue of what they are talking about. You need to speak to an expert for real advice or research your own. A GP is like your local mechanic. They can change your oil but you wouldn't trust them with your Rolls Royce. Your body is your Rolls Royce 😊

Which is fine, cause I love spinach and other greens in my smoothies! My body is not used to Kale AT ALL! Again, thank you for publicly sharing your knowledge and experience!

Yeah, fiber can actually makes things worse in some cases if you don't drink enough water.. like if you have chronic constipation and take lots of fiber, but don't get enough water.

Would integrating fermented vegetables and ACV into the diet helps with better digestion of kale/ too much fiber? Thank you so much for your videos Dr Berg, I’m so grateful that I’ve learned so much knowledge from you. Best wishes to you and your team, whoever that’s behind the scene that works so hard to keep this channel going for everyone!

I like to eat the Southern Green mixtures that include spinach, turnips, and collard greens. My mom used to boil them to death until I'm sure there was no nutrients left in them, but I cook them in avocado oil until they just turn color.

Massage your kale before putting dressing on it--massaging the kale leaves breaks up the fiber in it and make it easier to eat and digest. Of course, remove and discard all the thick, hard stems.

Zeynep Busbee I think what your doing is awesome! I took a snap pic of it so I can copy you. 👍🏻 it’s basically all in moderation...I had this friend who I told that garlic is so good for you. Over the next month she ate so much garlic..I’m talking like 6-8 raw cloves a day! She was having massive stomach problems...she cut back to 1-3 cloves a WEEK and her skin is amazing and she feels great. That all being said..I bought a pre packaged mixed greens on 2 different occasions in the last few weeks and I get Huge stomach ache. Something in it is bothering me..I don’t know what. It has a host of different greens. Think I’ll stick to spinach or kale.
