万年筆が高価な時代、付けペンや、ガラスペンは通常の文具店で容易に入手できましたが、現代のガラスペンは硬質ガラス製なのですね。かなり手間のかかる製品のようです。古い時代のガラスペンは、ペン先が脆いためにほとんど使用した記憶がありません。

円形のものを加工するときに一番難しいのがその作業なんです。いわゆる芯出しと言われる工程になるのですが、工作機械に取り付けるときでさえ芯を出すのが非常に難しいのです。ましてやこの職人のように固定せず、測定器具を使わず、目視と手だけで真っ直ぐにつなげるという事は神業と言わざるを得ないほど凄いことです。

一つ一つが手作りだからこそ、書き味が全て違って、その日にどんなペンが置いてあるかもわからない。本当に出逢いものです。何度も試筆させていただき、手に馴染んだ一本をきめて持ち帰りました。その後、高価なものから安価なものまで様々なガラスペンを使いましたが、私にとっては菅さんの作品を超えるものは未だありません。素敵なものをありがとうございます。おじい様の技術を途絶えさせず、継いでくださってありがとうございます。

1200度の炎を見極めながらの集中した作業は、本当にすごいです😊 暑さの中、あんなに繊細で美しく丈夫なペン先を作るのに、どれだけの時間と訓練を重ねてきたのか。。。万年筆を使う機会も少なくなってきた中、最近その良さも見直されているので、沢山の方々に愛されると良いですね😘 私も使いたくなりました💕

I have a fountain pen with a glass nib, but I don't find it particularly nice to use. It's a vintage one I found on eBay, and I had to replace the ink sac in it. Maybe it's because of bad design, but it has uneven ink flow with the tendency to burp ink every so often (both problems I think stem from the lack of a feed). While the performance of the glass nib can be good, I also find it to be particularly scratchy on certain papers due to how thin the tip is.

Je ne savais pas que l'on pouvait faire des stylos intégralement en verre. C'est étonnant et très intéressant. J'ai toujours été fasciné par le travail du verre ! C'est une matière très dure, très cassante et en même temps très malléable (pour qui sait le faire). Cet artisan est très jeune, mais il semble avoir une grande maîtrise de son art. Bravo à lui de perpétuer les savoirs anciens. Merci pour cette belle vidéo.

I think my generation was one of the last ones to learn cursive writing in the US. For years I always got compliments on my hand writing because of this. Now younger people just say "wow I didn't know you knew calligraphy!". It's sad schools no longer teach cursive writing. And I get it, everyone uses cell phones and key boards these days. No one actually writes much anyone. But its something that I take pride in when I do use it. Before long it will become very rare skill to have.

Fiquei sabendo a um tempo atrás que não utilizavam mais a escrita cursiva nos EUA. Aqui no Brasil ainda utilizamos e por enquanto se é ensinado nas escolas. Acredito que com o tempo isso irá desaparecer.

I dont know anything about calligraphy but Ive seen it many times. They use a special pen and they bend and twist it to form the letters, you cant do that with a glass pen??

@@h0rk3d no the nib on a metal nib put on a dip pen has a bit of manipulation with pressure sensitivity. I don't have this pen, but I do have a hand made glass pen and there is no pressure change in the tip it's the same line. Love glass pens, but in an art sense not the pest if you want an easy way to go from thin to thick you would have to go back in the area you want thicker with more strokes.

Whoa, first time I've seen this exact type of pen. I even thought that maybe there's a cartridge that goes in, but nope, it's all capillary action just like a quill. Very cool and amazing handywork.

Yes, glass pens are easier to clean than other materials. The twisted ridges deposits ink so you can load it with more ink than the traditional quill.

以前、子どもが小樽でガラス玉作り体験をしたことがありました。その後、某研究所の一般公開で実験用のガラスを使ってマドラー作りも体験していました。側で見ていて驚いたのは、火力の違い。小樽の装飾用ガラス玉と違い、実験用の硬質ガラスを加工するバーナーの火力はものすごかったです。その上、硬質ガラスは加工が難しそうでした。それをこんな綺麗な工芸品かつ実用品に加工できる職人さんは素晴らしいですね。この職人さんはまだお若いですが、数十年後に後継者が育ってくれて技術を後世に繋いでくれるといいですね。

This process is absolutely beautiful. I've always wanted to use and find a good glass pen. What I can find was just cheap Chinese made glasspens. I broke 3 glass pens so far. I searched for good ones but couldn't , until today. Just visited the website I will find a way to get that glass pen in Korea here. Thank you very much for showing this beautiful process of making glasspens and the website.

I wonder how the 'feel' compares to a goose quill or brass nib. It looks like it would be a fine choice for quality paper and the channels in the glass seem to retain ink somewhat better than the alternatives.

С точностью наоборот. Поток чернил зависит от наполненности каналов, окунать в тушь надо гораздо чаще, и нет никакого способа контролировать качество линии, так как отсутствует гнущийся кончик. Да ещё и ломается это говно от случайно чуть более сильного касания бумаги. А, ещё рвут бумагу, ведь в отличие от нормальных перьевых наконечников, тут стекло.
