*******CRITIQUES, RULES, AND NOTES*******
Be aware of the following rules before posting comments:
- Please do not post summaries of the video in the comments - it damages retention on the video and KZfaq is less likely to promote it (these videos cost me a lot of money to produce).
- Please do not comment on Physionic’s finances. I spend thousands of dollars a month and weeks of my time per month to release content for free. If Physionic does not make money, I cannot keep this operation alive; additionally, I work hard and would not expect you to work for free, so do not expect me to work for you for free.
Critiques of my work are welcome! Please be aware of the following notes & rules before submitting critique:
Be mindful that this content is not all encompassing on the subject at hand and is self-limited for brevity to reach a wider audience. Also, be aware that I receive hundreds of KZfaq comments per day, so the only way your critique can be considered is if you follow the steps outlined below. Finally, KZfaq auto-deletes links, so I do not see most comments with links attached.
RULES:
If your comment is rude, you will be banned.
If your comment is not about the studies/topics at hand (i.e. extending to other outcomes not discussed) or offers critique with no scientific basis, it is unlikely to receive a response.
If you can follow these rules, I will try to address your critique and if there is merit, I will add an AMENDMENT to the content in question and pin it so everyone can see it (thank you!).

Sometimes. I had a client years ago who had had open heart surgery in his late 50s/early 60s. I asked him if he had also changed his lifestyle. He said yes, but that meant eating one less slice of bacon at breakfast or the like. That kind of surgery on its own extends life about 10 years. The buildup can happen again and sure enough he died about 10 years later. I will say that I think he enjoyed the time he had. Also, I hear of plenty of people with diabetes not eating to lose weight which reverses it in many people. They’ve often said their doctors say it’s a lifelong condition that can only be managed with meds. It does have to be managed, but changing eating and exercise is a great first step, yet many claim it’s too hard. It IS hard, but so is living with risk.

I have gotten incredible effects from intravenous NAD+ use. Emphasis on intravenous. I do not know if taking NAD in pill form sublingually, which I do, is having any effect, but I am 100% certain IV drips are doing all sorts of good stuff - joint healing, relief from back pain caused by really tight muscles, gut cleansing and a few weeks of increased stamina. Enormously increased stamina for the 24 hours after the infusion. Cognitive improvemets. Greater flexibility. I didn't know NAD+ had these effects, and used it to get off a horrible benzo dependency in a matter of a few weeks, without withdrawal symptoms. It repairs exhausted receptors in the brain and works against ANY chemical dependency or addiction. Finding out about all the other stuff it was doing was pretty cool.

I would say the most potent natural compound for age reversal is curcumin, just not sure what is the best way to use it. There isn't a compound I have found that can at the same time affect the reversal of so many aging-related mechanisms like : acting as a GSK-3β inhibitor; inhibiting TGF-β receptor I/ALK5(part of cellular senescence); inhibiting MAO-B( neuroprotection by inhibiting the breakdown of neurotransmitters); increasing cyclic AMP (cAMP currently confirmed only in muscles I think); inducing the expression of TET enzymes; activating both canonical and autophagy-mediated Wnt signaling..

I have Cytomegalovirus (CMV) that I contracted from my ex. Since then i'm super scared if it's gonna cause any harm to my body in the long run. Currently, i'm in my late 20s. I had mono due to the primary infection with CMV but since then i'm asymptomatic. I have read in so many varied published research papers online that CMV causes latent persistent infection inside the body that might cause low grade inflammation. I was considering taking Rapamycin but it's an immunosuppressant which I guess won't be a good idea to take in my case because I need properly functioning immunity to keep the virus in remission. Any advice on the same would be truly appreciated.

Questions - (a) What are the positive functions of mTOR a person would miss in the event rapamycin suppresses it? (b) fasting also stimulates autophagy so to what extent would rapamycin be redundant for a person who regularly fasts? (c) is there an age breakpoint where it becomes more useful than not to take rapamycin to inhibit growth to potentially suppress cancer?
@jj900
@jj900 7 ай бұрын
Mtor in simplistic terms is pro growth, protein synthesis, muscle building. You can't suppress it all the time, itll lead to sarcopenia. It's that balance between fasting and muscle, feast and famine etc...

So ... in so many of these studies, it looks like we really just need to avoid _placebo_ - right? Why would they allow something so bad, or so inconsistent on the market? _Damn! And I just received my_ placebo _shipment from Amazon!_ _Interestingly, all the_ placebo _you can get is _*_vegan!_* 😃

Active mTOR is needed to maintain muscle mass.
@netional5154
@netional5154 2 ай бұрын
This is a conundrum. In other videos on this channel mtor is portrayed more positively. So the goal is to maintain muscle mass without activating mtor. As far as I understand the best way to do that is not eat a lot of protein and focus on plant protein since that activates mtor less. And exercise of course to stimulate muscle growth.

The second research article compensated for the selection of diabetics only on metformin over those with more medication, and thus presumely more severe diabetes. How do one do that? I can't see any way of doing that! The original research seems to have compared mild diabeticsi on only Metformin with non-diabetics. I see no problem with that. No need for any compensation at all. What am I missing? Although, that minor difference between the curves has to be compleatly insignificant. So it would be false to say that the diabetics survived longer. I would simply say that the research couldn't detect any difference! It's likely that someone with a mild diabetes has a tendency to try to take care of themselves. That's probably enough to compensate for the diabetes. The result is therefore not really surprising!

It always makes me sad when I hear you need mtor and inflammation for muscle growth but you need to reduce those things for longevity. I really wish there was a way to have your cake and eat it. Especially because putting on muscle later on in life is so difficult.

The key is balance. You mess up that balance when you try to hack your growth with steroids and overtraining (make sure to have good stimulus to fatigue ratios)

You missed Metformin's little brother with no known side effects and a much longer history: Berberine Thanks for the correction of me thinking Metfornin extending life expectancy of diabetics on it over those of the general public not on it. Perhaps I should reconsider whether my continued (6+ year) use of berberine is still a net benefit (also considering cost) now it's not such an enormous no-brainer as my previous belief would imply.

Hey Nic, I would Appreciate if it would be possible for you to read the books and literature by Dr. Michael Greger. He has 3 books related to Diet, and Ageing of which the Ageing one is the latest in which he claims to back his claims with thousands of reference studies. It would be great if you you enlighten us about their validity. Thanks!

Greger definitely has plant bias. It’s amazing how he never cites any positive results from studies of low carb. But the low carb people are the same. Almost everyone is susceptible to confirmation bias. No guarantees.
