Let's go back in time to 1980, I was wandering around The Wherehouse looking for something to buy, and came across the first Psychedelic Furs album (US Version) and was very intrigued, I had never heard of them or heard any other their songs, as it was before they got any local radio play, but something inside me made me buy it! Took it home and played it and was mesmerized! Still my fav release of theirs! I also saw them play at the Roxy in Hollywood on their very first US Tour....

WHY India is not regarded as the Greatest Anthem of the 80's I will never understand. Everything Joy DIvision, New Order, Duran Duran, even the SIsters of Mercy were trying to do, this song went farther. Genius, pure and simple.

This truly is an amazing album and a band which, at least for me, has stood the test of time. I listen to them again and again, and it never seems dated or at least it never seems as if I have overrated the band earlier. Their later albums were just as good- Book of Days and World Outside were excellent. Also teh last album to come out has shown they have not diminised.

What a great band seen them in 1986 when they headlined Glastonbury Friday night with an amazing laser show that left me transfixed in mute fasciation a group of roughly 15-20 us was on White Lightning and we were all just blown away. We all thought it doesn't get better than this until Saturday night when The Cure headlined. That was also amazing but, for me, the Furs edged it. Other bands there were Waterboys, The Pouges, Level 42 and loads of other great artists. Slight memory block as I type. Been huge fan ever since. Weather amazing too sunshine galore. What a Festival that was.

This was the only P Furs album I ever had ... but I DID have the experience of trying to perform in a play (Indiana University, must have been 1984 or 5) with just a 'sound door' separating us from the incredibly loud Furs in the IU Auditorium (very shitty building design). Standing upstage, we couldn't hear our damn cues from downstage, cuz there was just this wall of volume coming from the left. :D A great memory, actually.

I love this album and this track in particular. I had a hifi with built in alarm that would play the cd. A great way to wake up. I do find tho that the dynamic range in my vinyl copy is much greater than cd. When the bass first comes in on vinyl it's like it's right in your ear. Because of the way cd re-mastering is done it loses that dynamic range. I recommend everyone get the vinyl version.
