X tekken was such an underrated gem of a game. It is a shame that all that was squandered by shitty game industry practices.
@mousefire777
@mousefire777 Жыл бұрын
I feel like it was a bit of a sacrificial lamb. Like, yes, the practices aren't good, but they went far, *far* beyond SFxT, and even plenty of other fighting games that came out around then had practices that were just as scummy that didn't get nearly the same backlash (Blazblue and KoF13 come to mind). People were pissed at capcom for a million reasons, and SFxT just happened to be the game that broke the camel's back.

I don't know why, but something about Street Fighter x Tekken's aesthetics makes me wanna play the game just for that. The impact on launchers. The speedy combos. The cool shaders that really highlight a character's details. Everything about it just speaks to me in a way that no other Street Fighter game has.
@keeng
@keeng Жыл бұрын
It looked amazing. It came out while SF4 was still going strong and hopping back and forth between the two made SF4 look SO bad to me. Also, design-wise, I think it's the best tag fighting game ever made. The combo system was super cool: your partner always ran in rather than jumping in like DBFZ or MvC, so you used the tag as a combo extender. It even had an amazing 4 player mode where your partner could control when they tagged in. So they could confirm off your buttons to continue combos and vice versa.

It really (IMO) does look better than IV. I think the shading and lighting does wonders to the character models that IV just lacks. It makes me sad with just how badly Capcom fucked this game up.

For me SF4 generation Ryu's face is what made it iconic for me because it looks so good when the hit-stun kicks in. SF4's artstyle just screams Metal Slug, and I really liked that for the franchise. Though I do prefer what they're going for now with SF6 and I still really consider the 3rd Strike generation of 2D fighters to be the best looking ones, SF4 was a fun look for Street Fighter and Im glad that's the one I grew up with.

Standing fierce seems like an integral part of Ryu's mid-range now in street fighter 6 since it can be single-hit confirmed into jodan shinengeki for a knockdown and damage and unlike his whirlwind kick, another single-hit confirmable poke with great range whose main weaknesses are drive impact and speed, standing fierce is much faster and you can cancel to super or a drive impact of your own to beat it.

You know they gave Ken and Ryu this move in Smash Ultimate (performed with a tapped forward tilt input while close to an opponent, so you can't perform it raw in neutral. You'd get toe tap instead). It does not inflict a crumple, and it's only utility is that it pulls the opponent closer toward you for a more likely Shoryu connection. I don't rely on the "Opponent close" attacks because with Ultimate's input delay, there's little gaurantee that your opponent will still be within range by the time your input is read. Ken gets some good use out of it if you want to confirm into his unique roundhouse/axe kick moves.

Ryu's fierce counter follow-up inputs: f.HP > j. MP(late) > cr.HP > qcf.P(hold) > fw.dash > cr.HP > qcb. LK And if you have one block of meter you can dash cancel an EX-Hadouken (can also be charged to LV2 for free). The following attack will be a guaranteed counter on hit so if you link the fierce f.HP from said dash cancel, this combo can be done without even having to interrupt an opponent's startup.
