I love how the director continues to go more mad as he continues to try and keep the show going, and then finally starts coming to his senses. I also think the story draws an amazingly twisted metaphor of how Hollywood abuses and throws away children. Awesome story and narration!

I love how relatable you are, Stephen. In a world moving at breakneck speed toward the cold, unfeeling, emptiness of AI, the fact that you not only use your own voice but we see your face as well is so refreshing and unique to this genre. The director was the puppet, and Mr. Smiley was the actual puppet master. The show never worked out until the director became emotionally dependent on Mr. Smiley. When Smiley nodded his head, it was his way of agreeing to a bargain. The director would have all the fame, fortune, and success he ever dreamed of. But in return, Mr. Smiley gets full control. By opening up emotionally to Mr. Smiley, the director was submitting to his new master. The director made himself vulnerable, which allowed Smiley to manipulate him into doing Smileys bidding. I even suspect the idea of making an edgy puppet show wasn't the director's idea at all. He lived in close proximity to the thrift store that held Mr. Smiley, and Smiley obviously has immense psychic power. As soon as he sensed a desperate director in his area, he started planting ideas into the directors mind. Yes, the director worked hard to bring the idea to life, but he was working for Mr. Smiley the whole time. The reason nothing went right at first is because the director hadn't been fully defeated, so he wasn't fully submissive. He needed to willingly go to Smiley in desperation, as a gesture of humbling himself before his master. I don't know why Mr. Smiley takes children as puppets, but I'm guessing it makes him more powerful and feeds him.

When my niece was born I took a leftover scrap of bright yellow fleece stitched it together with bright green string, witch made a strange kind of dog bone looking shape. I filled it with cotton balls, and sticked it closed. I had these crazy bright different colored (and sized) buttons. I stacked 1 on top of the other to make theses weird eyes. Then I stitched in a big red crooked grin. Presto Mr. Smiley was born. Of course my niece was too young to play with Smiley. Did not want her biting off the buttons and choking. Now she is 4 and she still has Mr. Smiley. I wonder if he talks to my Niece at night.... loved the story, great narration. ❤

I swear the people in these stories need like an unbiased partner that steps in to do what needs to be done. Like this director was clearly under the influence of _something_ by the end, and had he had a friend or something that could've tossed the puppet for him this whole mess would've been over. But hey, that's horror for ya. Those things just don't happen very often.

Blessed be thy poll system! If this puppet's name was Hard hat Harry, it would've been a riot 😂 Another great story. Thanks Lighthouse for narrating and thank you Mr. Solis for the original story

Another great one! This might be up there with the cinema usher story for my favorite.

2 minutes and I'm at the biggest plot hole. No one takes anything for a drift top that might be 99.99% copyrighted and puts it in his own copyrighted show. That's almost like begging to be sued

Honestly I would love to see a Creepypasta Animated Series with Jeff Smile Jane LJ Ben Sally and their friends and Slenderman as the main characters and Jeff and Smile as the main protagonists and Zalgo as the main antagonist and it should be kids show style with the animation similar to Hazbin Hotel.
