Today I am comparing the Razer Viper Ultimate to the Razer Viper V2 Pro. I decided to just go for this video instead of make a script and it shows. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I think there is a lot of value there but it is kind of all over the place at the same time and not as succinct as I like. So, what do you think? A good video? Or do I need to redo it?

I'm not sure how I feel about this video. As it wasn't scripted so I wasn't anywhere near as succinct as I like. It is also kind of disjointed. I may have gone a bit TOO In-Depth. So, I would love to hear your thoughts. The good, bad, and ugly so I can bring you better content in the future and decide if I need to completely redo this video or not. Also, which mouse did you choose? The Razer Viper V2 Pro or the Razer Viper Ultimate? EDITS: - I did check to see if the Razer Viper Ultimate would wake with pressing left/right click. It DOES, which means that even during sleep that it will have the beams of light on. Due to that it will burn through battery faster than the Razer Viper V2 Pro who DOES NOT wake with left/right click meaning the light is OFF therefore saving energy and only activates with movement of the sensor.

@@mir6709 I don't blame you. I think it is a great choice but waiting for it to go on sale is definitely the smarter play. As it is certainly an investment. On the bright side it should last you a very long time. Personally, I like to break down costs based on how many hours I will get out of it. So, for the Viper V2 Pro if I get 150 hours of play out of it then it is a dollar an hour. If I get 300 hours then it is 50 cents an hour. And so on and so on. You'll easily get 1000+ out of it so that is easy to justify. And the fact that it is the BEST mouse on the market SPEC wise. You'll also get years before anything comes out that is better. As the RVU, GPX, and GPW all came out years ago and are still dominating the top spot. I do expect Razer to release the Razer Viper Mini Ultimate sometime this year (as it is being made) which will likely overthrow this guy for top spot for a lot of people. But not everybody likes smaller mice. Anyways, the point of this comment wasn't to try and convince you to buy it. You gotta be smart with your finances and if it is too expensive and puts you in a bad spot then you shouldn't buy it yet and instead keep saving or wait for a sale. I was just arguing the other side of the coin that if I could only buy one mouse for the next couple of years this is the one I'd buy. And if you don't get a perfect copy then RMA/Exchange it until you do.

Hello again Sir! I bought viper ultimate last year because of your recommendation and been loving it since then. A very good comparison video again this time, but too linear, I mean there's no side joke like couple of your old videos, but still good nonetheless. Just for some additional information, maybe you can add is it worth it to upgrade from RVU to RV2. I believe many will ask the same question too.
@ThomasMuehler

@@profnoslen You're the MVP! Deeply appreciate the constructive criticism. You are correct, this was very linear and I was too focused that I forgot to joke around. I will make sure to adjust that for future videos that I do like this. Very much appreciated! Just FYI I already recorded two others comparing the Viper V2 Pro to the Starlight 12 and G Pro X Superlight that have the same format as this where I didn't joke around either. Haven't decided if I'm just going to release those as is or go back to the drawing board. But if you see those drop without the humor know I didn't forget your comment, they were just already recorded. I think that is a great point (is it worth the upgrade?). I think I addressed that in this video indirectly, but it would be worth making a dedicated video focused on that. I think that is a hard question to answer. So I'll have to think about how I would structure that video. At the very core I think the Viper V2 Pro is for "Pro" players who only care about competitive play and are willing to throw money at anything that will give them an advantage even if it is slight. Or for those who are buying a premium mouse for the first time. Where the RVU (while still being a stellar competitive mouse) is perfect for more casual gamers who still want top-tier performance but have extras too (RGB, side buttons, charging dock), etc. As especially for the sale price (I think it is $75 on Amazon right now) it simply can't be beat for price to performance and would be the mouse I would recommend to literally everyone. Even if you don't play games lol. As having one of the best mice on the market for that price is insane to me. As my number 1 spot is tied with several mice (GPX, GPW, RVU, Viper V2 Pro, and Starlight 12) depending on preference.

can you maybe tell me if the clicks are lighter on the v2 pro compared to the ultimate or is it almost the same press force you have to use? for me its important to know how much force you need to press the main buttons pls tell me something about them , because I like an quiet and light click feeling like the razer deathadder for example is it any near to that feel? would be nice to know for me because I make much cps over a long period of time... :)
@ThomasMuehler
@ThomasMuehler Жыл бұрын
This will vary on copy to copy a bit. But my Deathadder V2 Pro has the lightest and quietest clicks. Being both light and quiet. Then the RVU which has almost as light of clicks but is about 2x louder. Then the Viper V2 Pro has a bit more stiffer clicks that I'd almost rank as moderate actuation force (compared to the other two) with a bit louder clicks than the RVU. I would say all of them still have "light" clicks. But when comparing them together they are a bit different. Also, the clicks to me feel more premium on the RVU and Viper V2 Pro as they are both more of a crisp click. Meaning they have strong spring back force where you can really feel the click. Where the Deathadder's click could be called "mushy" with light spring back force. But I'd still say it is a crisp click but not in the same category as the other two. I would say all three of them are very easy to spam click though for high CPS. But you'd probably have to try and search KZfaq specifically for what CPS people are getting with each respective mouse. As that isn't something that I focus a lot on for the games I play as it doesn't matter.

i've had a viper ultimate for a year or two, so maybe i'm not the target audience for this video, but all the differences seem too small to make a big difference. i understand they made a lot of minor improvements to things like the sensor, battery life, and weight, but virtually every other change makes the mouse worse (in my opinion). the v2 pro loses rgb, 3 buttons, rubber grips, on off switch, color choices, and there's no dock. not to mention you can get the viper pro for like $70 now. one small thing i noticed was the pre-travel on left and right click. my viper ultimate has virtually 0 pre-travel and clicks all the way down so there's only post travel if you're mashing your fingers into the mouse. i'm watching this video with upgrading in mind (ultimate to v2) and i don't really have a good reason. you're paying 2x as much for what, 5% improvements and losing a few grams? total cash grab by razer imo. sure it is technically better in every measurable way, but it is a worse gaming mouse because it loses features and costs significantly more.

I appreciate the wonderful breakdown and enjoyed reading it. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience! I think you bring up an excellent point of perhaps not being the demographic. Which I think is Razer’s thought process between the two lines. Of the Viper “Ultimate” being for the casual/masses. And the V2 “Pro” for the professional/die hards. Obviously, there is overlap here, but hear me out. My point being for the casual/masses the V2 absolutely will be a downgrade for all the reasons you listed. Especially, when you consider how much the Viper Ultimate costs (which is insane now where it went from like 130 - 150 to 50 - 70). But I’d argue the opposite based on my personal preferences (and would classify myself as more of a diehard). Of I would pick the V2 Pro 10/10 times over the Ultimate. As I find your downgrades to be upgrades to me. As for the clicks. There tends to be a good amount of variance between mice. Where it sounds like you may have gotten an extremely good one with your Viper Ultimate and maybe a bad one for the V2 Pro. If you think the V2 Pro is a cash grab. Go check out the Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 over the G Pro Superlight. Lol. I totally see where you are coming from, don’t completely disagree, and agree that for most people the price increase is not worth it.

I appreciate you getting back to me. That is quite interesting. I suppose it comes down to the luck of the draw on how luck you got with each variant. @@ThomasMuehler Ohhh, so im considered quite lucky for vpu. May I ask why are there inconsistency with the switches of each variant?
@ThomasMuehler
@ThomasMuehler Жыл бұрын
@@Itz_notjer I would argue yes that you either got "lucky" with your RVU or "unlucky" with the V2 Pro. Ideally, they should be the same or very similar. I don't know the exact reason why there is so much variance as I'm not in that field. But my assumption would be if you make 20 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches (while trying to make them exactly the same. Meaning same amount of peanut butter to jelly radio, no over spillage, perfect slicing of the crust, etc...) that there will always be a slight variance between each sandwich. Most of them will be very similar with some being above average and some being below. Factories are able to lessen error (as they are machines doing it) but it still happens. For some reason in Razer's manufacturing process of these switches there appears to be slightly higher than average variance between unit to unit. It could also be that people complain more as they are a main brand and it costs so much (which is fair). As click variance and issues is an issue for the industry as a whole and not just Razer. But people like to pick on Razer. The only ones that I'm aware of having the best record feel/consistency wise is Logitech due to their 'Mechanical Tensioning System'. There is another brand (that I can't remember off the top of my head) that has similar tech and their clicks tend to be very consistent as well. But outside of that it tends to be an issue. As I believe there is simply too many factors at play that causes bigger variance. As you have the components that make up the switch itself, then you have the mouse shell that the switch is placed into, then you have the top shell piece that you physically press, that all work together to give you the feel of the click. So I think the switches themselves are fine. But it is the plastic that activates the switches that varies. Which is hard to get perfectly right which is why Logitech's Mechanical Tensioning System is so great. As they can tweak it slightly which takes away that variance. But Logitech also went through a huge period of time (nearly 2 - 3 years) of using cheap switches that would feel great but would break causing an extremely high failure rate (double clicks) compared to the competition. So again, clicks are the biggest point of contention. As not only are they hard to get right but are used the most and people have the highest preference for. So while I may like XYZ you may like ABC. Both are "right" but could prevent one of us from enjoying the mouse. So, everything just kind of stacks. But again, that's my opinion and I could be completely wrong.

@ThomasMuehler
@ThomasMuehler Жыл бұрын
The Razer Viper Ultimate when it first released came with Razer Gen 1 Optical Switches. After the mouse released they realized that it had higher than average defects so they began tightening the tolerances by making small improvements. When the Razer Viper Ultimate Mercury Edition came out they dubbed the now improved optical switches (tighter tolerances but still the same switch) Gen 2. At that point ALL RVU that came out (black, white, pink, cyberpunk) came with Gen 2 switches. But you were GUARANTEED a gen 2 switch on the colored variants because they all had the new improved process. However, with older stock still being on the market for the black versions you could still technically get a Gen 1 switch that was defective. Which is why there is some confusion there. As there was overlap of the black variant having Gen 1 and Gen 2 switches. But at this point I'd expect ALL of the Gen 1 black variants to have been sold so are no longer on the market. Now, with the Razer Viper V2 Pro they are coming with "gen 3" switches. Which have even tighter tolerances and are supposed to be using slightly higher quality plastic to make them feel better. I think a lot of this is marketing. As I'd assume any products that Razer is releasing with their optical switches from this point forward will technically be Gen 3 even if they say they are Gen 2. As it wouldn't make sense for them to have Gen 2 and Gen 3 switches out (from a manufacturing point of view from this point forward as it is cheaper to just hold with the new standard). But having Gen 3 helps make the Viper V2 Pro seem more premium while also telling people we have made improvements on the clicks so if you didn't like them before you can try them again and it may change your mind. Or at least that is my assumption/opinion. I don't work for Razer and haven't been told that by an employee so could be wrong. As of right now there are no Gen 4 switches. In fact one could argue that there are no actual generations of Razer Optical Switches as the main thing is just tightening tolerances. Last,, behind the scenes, from my understanding, they are continually improving their optical switches. So Gen 3 switches could have been on the market for a while now but they just didn't tell anybody. As even with the initial release of the Gen 2 switches they were making improvements.

@ThomasMuehler Жыл бұрын
I thought I went pretty in depth in the comparison. But to sum up real fast. I do find the Viper V2 Pro clicks to be more crisp than the Viper Ultimate. However, not to the point I would say it feels WAY better. Scroll wheel also feels a bit better overall. But again, I think this is due to variance and this is me being hyper critical. So, for most people I’d say they are actually the same. Technically speaking the Gen 1 switches to the Gen 2 switches to the Gen 3 switches are ALL the same switch assuming you get a “good” batch. The only difference is that they have tightened the tolerances of what they consider a “good” switch. I also, think they are using higher quality plastic. But I haven’t seen the correct Reddit post from the Razer rep that goes into specifics. Basically what I’m saying is that no, I don’t think you should upgrade on the clicks alone. But do think the OVERALL upgrade is worth it. Assuming you are for that target demographic who finds the “upgrades” as upgrades over “removals”.

I find the V2 Pro to be one of the best mice that I've ever used. It currently has the best sensor, performance, optical switches (in my opinion), and supports 8,000 Hz. Whereas, the Ultimate is still one of the best mice you can get. Sensor, performance, etc. is still hard to beat. But you aren't getting as the higher polling rate. So it is less future proof. But still excellent all around. The biggest let down for the Viper series is the shape. Which some people really like or some people really hate. If it were me I would try and go with the Viper V2 Pro and try to get it on sale. As it also has USB-C. And I think the chance of another mouse releasing anytime soon and beating it (or beating it by a significant margin to warrant an upgrade) is slim. Assuming you enjoy the shape. But if you aren't playing a lot of PC games and just dabbling in it then going with the Ultimate would be a better bet. As that way you can save some money. And then if you get hardcore and feel the need you can upgrade to a more expensive mouse. Just FYI. My bias is towards performance and I'm willing to spend a bit more to get a slight bump in performance. So, if you are more of someone who isn't that way then the Ultimate would be your guy. As it gets you like 90% of the way there for a lot less. But I still think the V2 Pro is superior.

@@vaudou_ Just food for thought. The reason why the Model O Pro is releasing at $99 is probably due to post COVID prices and would have likely launched for $80 prior to COVID. Just like the Viper V2 Pro costing $150 over $130 pre COVID. Additionally, the specs of the Model O Pro are considerably cheaper to make (BAMF sensor has been around for a while. Same with the clicks they are using. Shell design is new however. Same wireless tech, already have USB C so didn't have to go through certification for that, etc.) and aren't anywhere near as premium which also makes it considerably cheaper. @ThomasMuehler
@ThomasMuehler Жыл бұрын
@@vaudou_ Totally agree with your thought process. This mouse is 100% a luxury thing for 99% of people (as the only people I would say "need it" are actual pro gamers who make a living off performing the best they can, those who are wanting to break into being pro, or arguably streamers who game all day every day.) Personally, I'm having a hard time putting myself into other peoples shoes. As for years I've been paying $150 for the top of the line Mice (G900, G903, Logitech G Pro Wireless, Logitech G Pro X Superlight, Razer Viper Ultimate, Razer Viper V2 Pro, Razer Deathadder V2 Pro, Finalmouse Starlight 12, Logitech G303, etc.). And it wasn't until the last 6 months that you could get a top-tier wireless mouse (granted not as premium as the top dogs) for $80 - $100. So seeing the huge market shift of people all the sudden finding $150 being completely unreasonable is leaving me shell shocked. Especially, when I didn't hear a peep of out roar for the Logitech G Pro X (which really was just a weight loss mod for the GPW). And people continue to say buy the GPX which is actually $160 and people don't bat an eye. But then you have the Viper V2 Pro which is on a completely different level then anything else on the market and people are acting like it isn't anything special and it should be $80. So, I just get a bit confused. Especially, as like I said premium mice have always been expensive and that was just the way it was for the best of the best. And rarely do you ever see the best of the best get LESS expensive over time. Not that I disagree with them as $150 is crazy expensive. But yeah, I'm just having a hard time getting my head wrapped around it. So it is more of a ME thing. As I'm trying to figure out what price is reasonable? Is $10 - $20 more reasonable for getting dramatically better specs? Do the specs actually matter at this point? Would most people even be able to tell a difference? All questions I ask myself and am having a hard time coming up with an objective answer that matches with the majority/average mouse connoisseur. I apologize. I totally went off on a rant at you. I can only speak from a mouse/keyboard standpoint. As that is where most of my testing has been. But I think for the past 5ish years they have been really good. And equal or better to the other main brands. Outside of an uneven base on my Razer Viper V3 Hyperspeed and Razer Viper Mini sensor issue I haven't had any problems with any of the products I've bought from them. I think their other products headsets, laptops, etc. may be different. And if you go looking you'll find people with problems. But also need to remember that most people who don't have problems don't post about it. Whereas, those who do have problems do. Which is the case with any product from any company. I find if the Stars for most reviews are >4 then it is probably solid. If 4 then maybe something is off. 3 - 3.5 is like I probably should be hesitant or expect problems. Whereas less than 3 should be avoided.

Hey Thomas I have a question, do u think that The viper v2 pro is really a successor of the viper ultimate? cos i see many other reviewers say that the v2p is not worth 150 but the vu is worth 150
@ThomasMuehler
@ThomasMuehler Жыл бұрын
Great question. Easy question to ask, hard question to answer. So, you’ll have to stick with me here. I'd argue the V2p isn't necessarily a successor but more of a "new viper variant”. Which is where a lot of the confusion comes from as depending on where you come down on “is it a successor” or is a “new variant” changes your outlook on it. As does are you a “casual gamer” or a “competitive gamer”. As the “upgrades” or “downgrades” between the V2P and RVU are dependent on where you come down on both of these point of views. I’d argue that if the reviewer says the Logitech G Pro X (GPX) is worth the $150 but the V2p is not then they are full of crap. As the GPX literally was a weight reduction mode for the Logitech G Pro Wireless (GPW). Same exact specs but weighed less and added “better PTFE feet” (arguable), while removing the right-side buttons and RGB. But cost the same. Actually, it increased in price to $160, and that was after being on the market for some time (due to inflation). I still rate it as the second/third best mouse on the market (V2P, RVU, GPX/GPW). Now for the RVU vs V2P. Same shape, but arguably otherwise has been rebuilt from the ground up. Which most reviewers completely miss. But again, all of the below really comes down to where YOU come down and what you prioritize. Personally, what I’ve seen is the reviewers that I see as “competitive gamers” who perform at a high level in games all see the V2P as a worthy upgrade and is the best mouse on the market (assuming you enjoy or can tolerate the shape). Which is also the target demographic for that mouse. Where the people who DON’T think the V2P is worth it tend to be more casual gamers that don’t feel the improvements for whatever reason. Which is not the target demographic for that mouse. But what I don’t get is how is the objectively BEST mouse (spec and performance wise) is not worth the $150, but inferior mice (GPX, Starlight 12 - which is $40 more expensive) are? Doesn’t really make sense to me other than a lot of people like to hate on Razer. Additionally, inflation has come into play here where prior to COVID19 the V2P would be $130 instead of $150. Improved: - 20 grams lighter - Focus Pro sensor is even better than the Focus+ (by a margin) which was already the best sensor on the market. Most reviewers completely downplay this CRITICAL aspect. - Dramatically improved side buttons - Improved coating. - Improved clicks (both from V3 switches and different way of making the click). But also the V1, V2, V3 switches are technically the same switch but have improved binning. But I think they also changed the plastics. I’d have to read the Reddit post from the Razer Rep to confirm). - My scroll wheel is better than both my RVU but could be due to variance. - Improved PTFE (granted this could just be due to weight. But they feel thicker and smoother to me) ( - USB Micro to USB C. Improved cable. Fully complaint. - On/off button is unique - Improved wireless (better stronger more accurate connection) - Now with the new wireless dongle actually supports 4,000 Hz compared to 1,000 Hz for the first time ever in wireless tech. Adding even more performance on a mouse that was already outperforming the rest of the competition. But does cost an additional $30. - Improved battery life (new battery, with different battery saving techniques) Removed: - Right side buttons (were only useful for a small percentage of people otherwise annoying) - Rubber sides (that most people didn’t like) - RGB - Dock charging - Somewhere to put the dongle. So, my two cents. The V2P is easily the best mouse on the market all around. It wins in nearly every single category and by some margin. And I personally found the upgrade from the RVU to the V2P to be easily worth it as the V2P is simply the best mouse I’ve ever used. I was out of practice and still beating all my high scores in Aim Labs. Since that time, I’ve gotten even better hitting around the top 10 - 15% in most things with causal occasional practice. I’d rate the biggest con as being shape as it is very hit or miss. The next con is that if you can get the RVU for $80 (which is the sale price, and goes on sale because it is a 2 - 3 year old mouse) you get the majority of the performance of the V2P for a lot less which is the best choice for the majority of people. But the V2P will also eventually go on sale as well but wasn’t when all the reviews were out as it JUST CAME OUT. So comparing an $80 on sale mouse to a newly release mouse at $150 to me isn’t a fair comparison. Last, in general mice have dramatically improved since the RVU and GPX/GPW came out. The quality you can get for $99 is insane and for most people will be enough. But the V2P isn’t for your causal gamer. Just like that 8K TV with all the bells and whistles isn’t for your typical consumer. The V2P is for the enthusiasts and from what I’ve seen the enthusiasts love it, assuming they can tolerate the Viper shape. $150 is a lot of money. But you’re also paying for the best of the best. If I could only use one mouse out of my collection and had to sell the rest I’d keep my V2P. I also, don’t understand why you would buy the RVU at retail over the V2P. But again, it really comes down to personal preference and what you are looking for. I’d love to hear which one you decide to go with (if you are purchasing one) and what you like/dislike.

The dongle not working is a rare issue that can happen and does happen to any wireless mouse/peripheral. Including the G Pro X Superlight and Superlight 2. If you are unlucky and that happens you can either exchange it in store (depending on where you bought it) or go through an RMA. Which is why products come with warranties on the off change something breaks you are guaranteed a working product. No, in my opinion the Viper V2 Pro is much better than the Superlight 1 or 2. Again, all products have a failure rate so you always assume that risk. Sometimes it happens more often with a product than it should but that is pretty rare. The wireless dongle issue I do not think is one of those times. But you gotta do what you think is best.

@ThomasMuehler Жыл бұрын
It completely comes down to what kind of a gamer you are or what you are looking for in a mouse. So, I can't really tell you. The only thing I know is for $69 the RVU cannot be beat by any other mouse on the market assuming the shape works for you and is the best bang for your buck you can get at that price. It is perfect for causal gamers and does well even for those that want to compete competitively. The only reason why I say it isn't perfect for competitive gaming is the weight. As the specs are 10/10 otherwise. However, if the only thing you care about is getting the best performance and only care about the competitive standpoint (high scores, getting the highest ranks, beating high scores, etc.) then the Viper V2 Pro is worth the premium price point. As I still find it to be the better objectively and subjectively all around when you take price out of the equation. Or if money isn't really an issue then I'd personally go with the Viper V2 Pro.

If you go into the comment section of my Deathadder V3 Pro review I've answered similar questions a lot. So, if you are wanting a more in-depth answer I suggest scrolling through that. I think the Viper V2 Pro is better... Wait don't I have an actual video putting the GPX vs the Viper V2 Pro... I DO here it is: (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qs6TZ5xjndrSj4U.html) But a quick short version. My personal choice is the Viper V2 Pro. FOR VIPER V2 PRO: - Specs are superior in every single category. Better wireless, much better sensor, equal battery life, optical switches are technically better but feel wise Logitech GPX is HARD to beat, supports 4,000 Hz polling over 1,000 Hz (reduces latency, battery life, and makes things feel a lot smoother, but isn't a MUST have but to me is worth having), better side buttons, better PTFE, on/off switch is unique and allows you to go through polling rates which you don't get with GPX, less latency all around, has special sauce to it that makes it a joy to use, USB C charging, perfectly balanced, FOR GPX: - Better coating, better shape (as Viper shape is very hit or miss), some would say better primary clicks, better on/off switch, people love Logitech and hate Razer, has special sauce to it which makes it a joy to use, very well balanced but not quite as good as the Viper V2 Pro, has a place to store the dongle, powerplay works, can technically buy a dock to charge it with. TIE: Both have great scroll wheels. Both have nearly the same weight. Both are some of the VERY BEST gaming mice on the market and you can't go wrong with either one, PERSONAL THOUGHTS: I love the GPX. The G900 and GPW were two of my first gaming mice. The GPX got me unbelievably excited. And I love all of them to this day as they are amazing. But thought the Viper Ultimate was better than both of those. Now with the Viper V2 Pro putting the Viper Ultimate to shame I really have a hard time justifying the GPX. Outside of it still being a G.O.A.T and if you can get it on sale then you get 98% of the way there for less. But if you are paying retail (in US $160 for GPX and $150 for Viper V2 Pro) assuming you like the Viper shape I don't think it's really a contest. As you get more bang for your buck with the Viper V2 Pro along with better future proofing. As the GPX has been on the market for a while and is no longer the young man it once was. I'd love to hear which one you go with and your thoughts on it once you try it out.

@ThomasMuehler
@ThomasMuehler Жыл бұрын
@@r3vnt_og That does make things harder (living in another country). I've never had any issues with Razer dongles and I've owned a ton of them. Every single mouse has a failure rate where something will go wrong. From my quick research I do see people are having that problem but it doesn't seem to be very many people. As you also have to keep in mind people who AREN'T having a problem aren't going to get on something and say they aren't have a problem or look for a fix to a non existent problem. Someone who is will. So, sometimes that can make it seem like a lot of people are having issues (and number wise maybe) but when you compare that to the amount of people who bought the mouse who haven't had problems it equals out to a small percentage. As you can find the same posts about that for the GPX as well. Takeaway: While this appears to be an issue. At this point in time I believe it is only effecting a small percentage of users so I wouldn't worry too much about it. As dongle failures are happening on both mice. But, the Viper Ult does not come with grips for the mouse 1, mouse 2, and side buttons I believe like the V2 Pro does. Also, the side grips built into the Viper Ult are objectively worse because they're not replaceable if they get worn down over time. The only solution is to put aftermarket grips ontop of the sides. It's been a while since I commented here, and now I think the Viper V2 grips while not great, they get the job done. However, my current opinion is that I don't think grips being included is important at all when it comes to reasons to buy the V2 Pro. @Thomas Muehler Hey, i dont know if u read new comments regulary but I have been lurking for new mouse since few good months, i printed few mouses on 3d printer for pennies, i have been using only mmo mouses my whole life like razer naga and g600, i was mostly playing as you think, mmos. Wanted to try something different as i like to play fps games, im no pro by any means, i dont play those modern fps games like valorant, fortnite, those are really not my type of games, tbh i hate hero shooters, with all that jumping, item mechanics, with colorfull maps and skills. I am more oldschool gamer, old cods, battlefields, counter strike 1.6 etc, even unreal tournament was great. But i do like to play like competitive player i mean be the best i can be in games, nowdays im playing bf2042 and waiting for future seasons in new cod, which about im very interested. Back to 3d printed mouses, found a post on reddit about it, printed few different models, the "holy trinity" all of the mouses on earth are +/- from this shapes. And to be fair rvu won, (there wasnt v2 pro when i was printing them), but i decided to wait for v2 pro and new deathadder as they claimed the shape will be different from deathadder v2, which is totally not for me. So i bought da v3 from outlet just to test shape and specs, after week i was lets say adopted to it, but where am i going with this history?, i saw ur post i mean discussion about superior sensor of razer in v2 pro vs gpx video, and lol, i felt the same as you when u talking about that u feel difference, i played few matches in cs go, and yeah, this precision is unbeatable, never before i was able to be that precise and quick, with such a 1:1 respond from my hand to mouse, i dont even know how to describe it, but i felt it even in stupid cod warzone with 45 frame per seconds (im in a process of changing my old hardware). It is not placebo effect, because i didnt know about it before buying and when using so i couldnt suggest myself, i started digging today, so u have opinion from somekind of old school gamer, and trust me im not bad at fps games. There is really something that makes that difference, i cant comapre it to other "fps" mouses but i used my whole life mmos ones. Im ending my history now, i had to send da v3 pro back, i felt its too big, even in comapring vs g600 and that left flare is too high, the palm thing was also aggresive, not that much like xm1r or its clones, but still. I think g600 just handicapped my grip, i know how it sounds but i am using this mouse like 8 years or even more, just bought second copy like year ago cuz of double click from omrons. And i ll buy viper v2 pro soon, or maybe rvu cuz of weight, da v3 pro seemed too light for me, it felt like a cheap chinesse toy in terms of weight. Im really excited to test vipers out.

As that is an unpopular opinion but I feel it every time I use the Focus+ or Focus Pro sensor so I know it's not placebo. If that is the sensor you are wanting then it limits the choices quite a bit. To being the Razer Viper V2 Pro (which is going to be the same exact shape as the Razer Viper Ultimate (RVU), just with more "pro" focused with less weight and a bit fewer features that make sense when you are only looking for performance. That weight I think is lighter than the Deathadder V3 Pro (DAV3) which may be an issue for you. Where the RVU is going to have a few more features and about 20 grams heavier. Also, currently on sale at Best Buy and Amazon for $60 if you live in the US.). You also have the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro. Which I think may actually be more up your alley. As it has a lot of buttons making it great for MMO's, is going to be great for claw/palm grip, a bit heavier, but still an awesome FPS/Competitive mouse as it has the same internals as the V2 Pro and DAV3. It also has Bluetooth and honestly some of the best RGB I've ever seen on a mouse. I actually use it all the time when I'm just browsing. Along with a infinite scroll wheel or single click hybrid wheel. That was a bad sentence. Razer will also be coming out with the Razer Viper Mini Ultimate (name to be determined) here soonish (it was supposed to release last year but due to "reasons" it isn't out yet and we are all expecting it to drop anytime now. But no real confirmation (that I know of). So, I know you like MMO and what I'm going to call more "casual competitive" multiplayer games (which isn't a diss). But I don't know what size of mouse you like or grip style. Along with how much you want to focus on the Focus+ or Focus Pro sensor. Additionally, the 3395 is the Focus+ sensor but not Razer's as they lost exclusivity to it. Lamzu Atlantis (most recent review) is an excellent mouse for "budget" but shape is kind of off. But may be some people's jam. Just not mine. So basically what I'm asking is I don't know what else to recommend as I'm still kind of in the dark of exactly what you are asking for? I know you mentioned two large mice with palm grip and a lot of buttons and that it was holding back your aim but that's about it. Also, that you didn't like the DAV3 shape.

@@ThomasMuehler Hey, thanks for respond, i think i wrote my comment wrong, i just wanted to underline that, even person like me could feel the difference, not only pro high ranked elo gamers, wanted to give u next reason, that ur not crazy :D. The best thing i got myself, im not using g600 with palm grip, i use it like claw/relaxed claw sometimes, yeah i was shocked also, my whole life i thought i do use palm, but got surprised, never ever was interested to check this out, untill now. Tbh i dont wanna change my g600, thats why im keeping it even if i buy razer, do u think having two mouses for two different types of games is fine?. Casual competitive is best term i heard of, I agree 100% on that. Unfortunately here in europe i cant see any deals on rvu, the problem is with their production dates, as we know earlier baths are trash with v1 optical switches, so best option would be buying mouse with 2022 production date to be sure, but it requires a lot of searching and sending mouses back with 14 days return policy, even now in some biggest electronic shops i saw rvu from 2019!. So yeah, buying rvu nowdays is more problematic. Answering ur qestion, how can u help me, well that wasnt my intention to search for help, just wanted to share my experience, sorry for being not clear enough with my post. But! I was thinking about it, and wanted to ask you, why a lot of ppl using dpi under 1000, im using 1600 on g600 or even on da v3 pro i had, i cant imagine how could i be so slow, where is the point of using such low dpi?. I saw that lamzu atlantiss but, well im not into somekind of little brands, it should be cheaper than v2 pro in theory, here buying lamzu atlantiss = price of v2 pro, but shape of this mouse is just strange. So i cant see any point of picking it, instead of rvu or v2 pro

@@gladcomming That is my mistake, I misunderstood and my apologizes. I really appreciate you taking the time to share your two cents. As I really do value it. I don't think there is anything wrong with have different mice for different use cases and think in some cases that can actually boost your performance or allow you to have a better time. I do that all time. In fact, I even switch mice while playing the same game depending on how I'm feeling that day and/or performing. There are only two negatives that I can think of. 1. Some will argue that by you not using the same mouse that you will "mess up your aim" as you won't train muscle memory. I think there is a bit of merit here as sure you getting used to a particular device may make you perform slightly higher with it (due to familiarity). But I'd also say that competiency plays a larger roll and is rather static. If I've used Mouse A for 1000 hours and Mouse B for 1000 hours I should be able to perform relatively the same with either. As my skill doesn't really change. But it is a nuanced thing that I think can get complicated. For example if you've driven one car you can drive other cars. Sure it might take a small amount of getting acclimated to it (once you learn the differnt features and where things are located etc.) But once that happens its not like your skill is different than any other car. 2. Money. Having multiple mice for different things costs more money than having a single mouse. And for some they will say that isn't justified. As for the RVU Gen 1 switch. I think there is a lot of confusion regarding them. I think now adays finding a Gen 1 switch would be exceedingly hard. As they launched with Gen 1, then like three - six months later (unsure on exact date but very short amount of time) they started putting Gen 2 switches in without an announcment, and then the colored variants came out which ALL had Gen 2 switches. Plus the only reason why the Gen 1 switches were "bad" is because they had looser tolerances of what was acceptable. Which lead to more defects. The only difference between a Gen 1 and Gen 3 switch really is tighter tolerances. Perhaps now with Gen 3 different material. But even then I'm not convinced. So the only reason why a Gen 1 switch would be "bad" is if it is defect. At which point you'd qualify (assuming you live in a country that supports it) for an RMA. While going through the RMA process is never enjoyable you'd end up with a good unit. But I suppose if you're talking 2019 that it could be a Gen 1. Which really shocks me that they've had a unit on shelves since launch pretty much. Or if you want to skip any issues like I said buy a colored unit and you're guaranteed a gen 2 switch. Only the black version has the possiblity (which is very low) of having a gen 1. DPI as with most things regarding peripherals is personal preference. Technically, I think research has shown that 1600 - 3200 has the lowest latency (as anything above that there isn't an improvement). Those who have been gaming for a long time typically use 400, 600, or 800 as mice back in the day weren't that good and lower DPI caused less sensor errors and those were the ideal ranges. Additionally, lower DPI can also "mask" some shakiness of their hands making it appear (althought incorrect) that it is more "accurate" (as technically it isn't as accurate which means slight deviations aren't picked up and therefore more steady). Since they got used to that DPI in games they've just never changed it. With a lot of the "old school" pro gamers also being media influencers (Shroud) people think that since Shroud is a god-tier aimer that there must be something magical about 400 or 800 DPI and they should use it too. Last, depending on the Game they might not let you lower your in game sensitivity which means that in order to get back into your normal range (for example I get two in game rotations of my character on my Glorious XXXL width wise so my muscle memory is always consistent across games) you need to lower your DPI (mostly older games like Bioshock or something). Also, a lot of people who have lower DPIs tend to have a higher in-game sensitivity than those people who have a high DPI and lower game sensitivity making it so both are actually have around the same range of movement in game but adjust on different scales to reach the same result. So, like if you have an in game sensitivy of 1, and a DPI of 1600 say you get two rotations. If you keep the game sensitivity at 1 but change the DPI to 800 now you get say one rotation. It's a lot slower. However, now you change your in game sensitivity to 2 but keep your DPI at 800 you get back to that two rotations in game. There can be benefits to both (depending on mouse and game engine) and as already stated latency is lower at 1600 but they are going to be small and not important for most people. Unless, if you are trying to squeeze every single type of advantage as you pssibly can you should just go with whatever feels best for you. Also, depending on your monitor resolution having a higher or lower DPI may be beneficial. For example a 720p or 1080p screen would be fine at 800 DPI but at 4K having a 1600 DPI would be better as 800 is going to feel slow. That's crazy that the Lamzu Atlantis is the same price as the V2 Pro/DAV3. Definitely not worth it. Also, very unique shape. So completely agree with you on that.

@@ThomasMuehler hey, sorry for not responding for such a long time, was busy and a lot happened in that time, bad and good things. Yeah, very good point on a driving skill, it can be transfered to mouses also, but as always there will be this favourite one, on which u perform the best, same as in games or real life, u are good at few things but u are the best on single one. For me considering games it was hardcore mode in bf3 at small maps, i was average on normal modes and maps, but in hardcore mode i was really the best i could be at that time, it was like my "pair of boots". Hah, to be more precise there is a LOT of 2019 rvu here on shells, also price is almost the same as for v2 pro xD, yeah, in the end of last year i noticed deathadder v2 pro for 150 euro on a shell, lmao. So u see how scammy and griddy those shops are. I dont know how much truth there is, but i saw comment in one of the biggest retailers here about gen 1 switches in white rvu, i cant verify it, but i was shocked also white rvu looks so phenomenal for me better than v2 pro, but price atm is meh, 100 euro here for brand new, quartz is a little bit cheaper about 85 euro. Viper v2 pro is 125 euro, so ehhhh expensive, i missed the opportunity to buy one for 90 euro, was sold out very fast. I think, i will wait till some promotions show up, i dont think buying white rvu for 100 euro is a good deal Thanks for such a detailed explanation, now i do know whats going on

@@gladcomming Hopefully there was more good than bad that happened. Praying for the best for you! All great points. Crazy on those prices and think you're doing the right thing. Thanks for getting back to me! I do appreciate it.
