It was a really fun drive and I had a smile on my face the whole time! I can see how these ruled the tracks for many years. A forty year old buggy just went out and put in the fastest lap I have done out there so far! I was very surprised and happy to see that! It goes to show you don't need a 3s, brushless, mega-speed buggy to get good times... just a good buggy and clean laps! Glad the card got to you and Happy Holidays to you and your crew as well!

This is the first one I have ever gotten a chance to run and I love it! I can see why they dominated the tracks of all types back in the day for so long! I am glad you found the channel and you enjoyed the video!

That is cool you still have your original one! I only saw on in person growing up and my cousin would not let me touch much less drive it so this was a fun first for me! I can see why it dominated for so long back then! It is a great buggy!

Thank you! I agree, sometimes the restore is much better than the initial build! this one so cruddy it was a lot of cleaning but man it came out great. Not perfect but since it is going to be a runner there was no point in going too far with it! I am glad to see the old plastic are just as tough as they were back then, it took some hit and kept on trucking!

I like doing the run videos with the different camera angles but it does take a lot more time to do so I admittedly get lazy and 'forget' the other camera in the house from time to time! It is mostly the editing, if it do it more often I get quicker so i just have to bring the GoPro out with me all the time LOL! I am glad you enjoyed it!

Sad thing is I am not exactly sure how I got it to tighten up so I am very hopeful it holds up!! LOL! I was angrily messing with it and all of a sudden one of the 378 various things I tried worked and I was sitting their wondering what exactly I just did! LOL! It was a blast to drive it and seems to be holding up fine so that is all that matters!

Thank you Dirk! It still shows some age on it up close but it is a ton better than when I got it. I am pretty sure it had a whole bottle of shock oil in all the dirt and grime caked on it! It ran very well out there and topped the leaderboard with the fastest lap. It beat out the thunder dragon, well lightning dragon, by the slimmest of margins but it still made it to the top which is super cool!

Actually the tires were replaced since the pictures were taken. It has some brand new Kyosho Scorpion rear tires on it. They worked great. I was surprised the diff held out for the full battery but it seems whatever incidental repair I made to is holding on! I was a joy to be out there running on around after all these years of wanting one! I did have to triple, triple check the times on the laps but I was able to put down a good clean lap and that 10.10 was a surprise! I probably should not be since this was the go-to buggy for over a decade!!!

Hi guys! I had a great time running it and I do believe it is the fastest time on the board, I think the previous was a 10.12 for the "lightning" dragon. It has been a very busy week and looks like it is going to continue to be a busy up until Christmas. I do have time off between Christmas and new years so I am really looking forward to that! It did so much better than the epic fail at your place previously LOL! It seemed perfectly power and geared for my little track and got around it very well! Believe me, it was not the first approach but some how ended up being the most effective one this time. I normally keep my cool but after countless attempts to get the diff all the way apart it was the last resort of "I am either going to get it to work or break it good enough to find out why it won't work"! You are right, it normally ends up in the later part though!

Ut was a really great time out running it and after a few laps I kind of forgot about the diff and all and just enjoyed the buggy! I ran many more laps, 30+ at least, some of it got chopped up in the the first part and I cut some out just so it was not too long of it going round and round!

It has always been one I wanted but never had the money when one came around. I had been looking for a really nice one but then came across this one and figured I might as well get it for the price. Some elbow grease and a couple small parts and it was going to be the runner until I found another for a shelf queen. The shelf queen thing worked out eventually by luck and now I have the best of both worlds, a nice one to admire and a fine one to run around and not care. Just keep searching, there are still tons out there and in the right time the one for you will find you! I am a firm believer in that.

It was great seeing it actually drive around this time! I had a huge smile on my face and I ran it until the battery was flat. I was a bit surprised at the 10.10 second lap and had to triple check it make sure. In watching it back I was able to take all the corners clean without scrubbing off speed for the full lap and it was one of the best so far out there. I would love to see a original take it into the 9s! This is my first experience with one as the only one I saw growing up was my older cousin's and he would not let me even touch it much less drive it! It took 35+ years to finally get one but I am super happy to have it and to be able to run it is great!

Yeah this ball diff is not my fault for slipping. Time and abuse are I believe. I tried and tried to the the thing apart to inspect it but I think it has worn itself together or something is stripped out and won't allow it to come apart. Either way I am lucky to have gotten it tightened up and running. Boy did it turn in some great laps though, put itself in the top spot on the leaderboard! I had a blast with is and I can see how the buggy ruled the tracks when it came out and for many years afterwards. I had to get the CC version, I am waiting for it to actually get here but there was no way I was going to miss out on that. I won't run it but to both be able to put one together right out of the box and to be able to own such a unique looking buggy I had to get it! It was a lot of fun cleaning and 'restoring' this one and I hope you do find one eventually as it is like no other I can say that! I doubt if they go back on their word of there are not going to be any more gold pan releases but maybe some of the other releases like the black chassis or the graphite chassis ones would sell just as well! I would love to see the gold pan come back and they could easily stamp the chassis and add logos to the parts to indicate they are reproductions but that seems to be a concept that the market has not grasped yet. @@AddamsPlayground I always liked buggies growing up and feel like I still do but I live in a condo complex so I don’t have control of how long the grass gets which is usually more of an issue with buggies than with trucks

It did very well and I am very happy the diff held up and I was able to drive it this time. I was also very glad I did not break it on the first lap like I thought I might have! Thought it may have been curse for a moment. It was not and it set the fastest time on the track so once it was good it was really good! The various camera angles makes it more fun, simliar to another guy with a small track in his back yard where he drives vintage buggies as well! LOL!

@@AddamsPlayground Haha...if I can inspire...it makes it all worth it my friend. There is northing like a good gold pan to get the feel of what it was like back in the day. It was just a gigantic game changer for such a long time. Really changed the entire way they produced the cars world wide.

I have looked a t few of the 10Ts but they sold for more than I was willing to pay for them. I am sure I will get one eventually, they look great. I was really happy to be able to get out and run this one around for a while, well until the battery died! I can see why they were the buggy to have for racing back in the day!

It did really well out there! It set the fastest lap time so far. It seems to have the perfect amount of power to be fast but not out of shape. It was a.joy to drive and I can see why these ruled the tracks for so many years!

The closest I can to one was my older cousin had one but I was not even allowed to touch it much less drive it! I do wish I had looked for one about 5 or 6 years ago when you could find them on eBay for $60-80 in good shape but those days are gone! I hope they continue with the re-release of different kits. I'd like one one the newer styles, the black pan, the graphite one, etc. But is seems they are more content trying to find new ways to put new bodies on the same old chassis and claim they are releasing 'new' kits. But what do i know as a consumer... LOL! I do hope you get one soon!

It was great getting to run one finally after all these years. It did well out there and I am looking forward to doing it again! I do have the Insta360Go camera but the battery was dead on it when I went to run it so no onboard shots.

It ran good with the diff tightened up! It was scooting around really well and I can see now why these ruled the tracks back in the day for so long! The diff in here is one its last leg and think the plates are worn badly, I say I think as I was never able to get it fully apart to verify! I am gonna run in until it decides to slip again and by then I hope to have a replacement for it. Looking to find a stealth transmission but an old 6 gear will be fine as well. Just need to do the shopping to find one I am willing to pay for! Yes the rocker switch on the bottom was a very funny and questionable thing to do. It had to be an adult of a kid with a very steady hand and good with a dremel as the hole was cut perfectly for it, they just put it in the worst place possible! LOL!

This one is a first for me, I got this one to restore and then I ended up getting another but that one was too nice to go beating on. Now this one is running I was very tickled to get out and drive it! I can see why these ruled the tracks for so long! It did very well! I honestly have no idea why they don't make them still. It would be very easy for them to stamp the chassis plates and parts with a date or logo to indicate they are reproduction parts and then everyone can be happy, vintage guys can still have their rare cars and parts and the rest of us can actually afford to get some to run and have fun with. I guess they is too hard of a concept for them to include stampings and logos on parts to make them stand out. Who knows...

I am sure it was great running them back then. I have looked for a 10t but pretty much anything now that has RC10 in the name is terribly expensive so I have not pulled the trigger on one yet! I have heard the RPM transmissions were good but are now just as expensive as the RC10 parts are. I looked recently and the 6gear transmissions were a minimum of $100 and most of the transmissions were in the $150-175 range! I think I paid around the $175 mark for the whole buggy!! LOL! I will find one eventually and get it swapped out, until then it is fingers crossed this diff holds up!

@@alfredyost7972 Good point! I would get one as well. Either there is not enough profit in them or they just don't realize the amount of people that would buy one... I am not sure which it is. Seems like Tamiya and Kyosho do very well with them so why others have not joined in is beyond me.

I saw Brice drove his around and it seemed to hold up fine but since I have this one that already have plenty of battle scars it will take the punishment to save the pretty ones!

And then sell the MIP parts to pay for the stealth (and then some probably).

I couldn't sell it in the shape it is in. If I knew it could be refurbished then maybe but I think something is rather wrong with it! I will replace it with a stealth, I just keep forgetting to watch for decent ones on eBay, I need to save a search for it to remind myself!

I am sure everyone that sold theirs has regrets! I know I regret selling my first couple trucks. None of thought we would have an attachment to them at the time!

LOL! I have so many because I can and I enjoy them. I have lots of problems but none are too serious. This buggy is the all time icon of 2wd buggies and one I have wanted for many years. It did make the fastest lap on the track so far. If I am not doing something then I do get bored and if I end up having way too much stuff to do I do get a little burned out. I did not need it but I really did want it. Why... because!

I doubt the CC parts are going to be any less expensive than the vintage stuff. I am going to shop around and see what I can find, so far I have not come across anything that seemed worth the money people are wanting for them. I will find something.
