I know this isn't technically game-related, but Knuckles will be getting his own live-action spin-off exclusive to Paramount+ this April. It will be the first live-action series based on Sonic the Hedgehog, as the previous six spin-offs (Adventures, SatAM, Underground, X, Boom, and Prime) were all animated.

I think one big point is that in the mail spinoff, it's all stuff you'd reasonably expect mato to be able to do within his character. The same cannot be said for the sonic spinoffs, for the most part. Shadow the hedgehog needed more time dedicated to writing and bug fixing. Nintendo is willing to allow the devs time to cook. Sega was always rushing thinking they were playing catch up, and that approach bit then time and time again

I’d call Wario a doppleganger before a clone since they don’t really look exactly the same.

Same with diddy and dixie but both are sequels and one is a racing spin off

I think the 30th anniversary comics for Tails and Amy, honestly could of been really good spin off game plots. They focused on the main character but still tied them to Sonic in some way. Mostly.. in Amy's comic's case.

It’s funny that even back in the 90s they just had no idea how to build non Sonic gameplay games. Which is after the Adventure-06 era they exclusively did Sonic only while struggling how to handle him. Frontiers is a nice welcome back to some of the sec characters, heck mania having Ray and Migty was great. I don’t think we can see a good game with these guys non Sonic when they can’t even agree on a Sonic system that works beyond the Boost formula. I’m hoping the next title has atleast the main 3 but each play and feel different. Nintendo is Nintendo nothing is going out that isn’t good or vetted but Sonic is different and while there is as much familiarity to Shadow as there is Wario, there’s no production putting out the same quality for it.

Actually, I think they did try a character spin off recently. “The murder of Sonic the hedgehog,” I think it’s supposed to be a Tails game even though a oc is the main character, kind of like Warrior’s woods or Robotnick’s mean bean machine. Still even though the main character is someone else, they made Sonic look like main character even though he is not. Pretty much because of what you said, they think the game would not be noticed if Sonic was not seeming like the lead character.

Another reason why the secondary characters don't have their own spin-offs is because the Sonic games don't sell very well, if they made a game focused on Tails it would most likely sell less than the first Luigi's mansion. Good prospective, people rarely talk about why Sonic secondary characters doesn't have their own spin-offs and Mario secondary characters does.

One thing about Sega is that they are good at making TV shows and movies, for example Sonic X, Sonic SATAM and the life action Sonic the hedgehog movie that did way better than expected. Nintendo did try the same but failed, for example the old live action Super Mario bros movie, The Super Mario super show and an old animated Mario movie that failed miserably but all of that changed when the new Super Mario bros movie was released, it revolutionare Nintendo and they are going to do the same to all there other characters. Nintendo has grown so big that they are becoming equal to Disney who is falling apart, soon in the future Nintendo will be the next Disney but a good one. The reason why Nintendo has grown so big and not Sega even tho Sega is better at making TV shows is because of two reason, first, they don't do risks, the only risk they do are on comics the only thing keeping sonic alive while Nintendo was created to take risks because they were the first to do so and second, like in this video, they only pay attention to sonic, they don't care or realize that there are other characters and characters outside the sonic franchise that are left abandoned and forgotten which reminds me that sonic isn't the Og mascot of Sega. Alex kidd was the original Mascot of Sega until the console war happened and he was replaced by Sonic the hedgehog to be better than Mario. Instead of just replacing him why didn't they just make the mechanics and gameplay more fun and add a better villain than just a pig bully. Nintendo probably won the console war, Sega was never cutout to be Nintendo's rival and Nintendo evolve to be the next Disney.

Nintendo at last has the balls to have Mario needing to be rescued in 4 Luigi games, 5 Yoshi games, and 1 Peach game You’ll never see Sega have a game where Sonic is helpless or needing to be rescued. At most it’ll be part of the story like in Sonic Adventure 2 or Sonic Forces but never have to the entire game base its premise around it

15:16 I'm all for side games starring secondary characters, but that is a *terrible* premise. Why should Sonic be the defenseless one? Besides, that's exactly what Nintendo did with Super Princess Peach. The cheapest example of role reversal. Next, he'll be a stay-at-home emasculated dad/doting subservient slave. Just have Amy go on an adventure with Cream, where they save some smaller characters (like Sprixies, small animals, or Chao). No point in hurting Sonic's reputation.
