I think it doesn't mean Chosen one like Anakin, but she would be just the main character. On the other hand, if Maul is still alive, Anakin didn't destroy all the Sith...well, at least his children will finish what he and Obi-Wan started and Palpatine is totally dead...

It is possible though that the Whills select a new "Chosen One" to guide the Galaxy in order to restore balance as often as is deemed necessary. This would make Anakin the one to restore the balance by taking out Darth Sideous a direct threat to the force itself seeking to control it for his own ends. With the death of Anakin they would select Leia to restore the galaxy to a peaceful state without as much fear to feed the dark side via the New Republic.

Well perhaps it was a multi-part journey of the Chosen One: Anakin (Part I), Luke (Part II) and Leia (Part III).

Yeah. It was always Anakin, who in the end, killed the emperor. Luke and Leia are basically equal, considering Yoda said “there is another” in case Luke failed; but it was Luke who trained in the ways of the force with Ben and Yoda.

They were made to entertain 9 year olds and get some diversity points by making women amazing at everything and making horrible and uninteresting characters. It's a CGI, toy selling, pandering, plastic, uninteresting, bland, boring, stupid horrible mess. Yes the prequels weren't that good. In fact I think episodes 1 and 2 are objectively bad. But at least they were creative and added lore to Star Wars more and expanded the universe. And had good moments in them. But the sequel's? They have nothing! Lucas said himself Star Wars is a Soap Opera. Maul connects to Kenobi and the start of the Saga and can tail end far better than a guy thrown into a shaft and double exploded. Leia would essentially continue the prophecy Anakin only fulfilled his role ultimately due to his son so having his daughter finish the job doesn’t bother me. Certainly not even half as much as the Rey Palps retcon.

People change their minds, Lucas might have thought that Leia being the chosen one would be an interesting and better story, or maybe he would have not gone with that idea and kept Anakin as the chosen one, unfortunately we'll never know.

The thing about the prequels, he was surrounded by yes men, too afraid to say "um, boss that doesn't make a whole lot of sense?" or "Sir, this part's a bit boring think maybe we should cut or speed it up a bit, skip it entirely or maybe make it better?" even "Mr. Lucas this scene is supposed to be a serious emotional moment, maybe we should let our actors be creative like Harrison did in empire?" etc. The only thing you can say is that those movies still looked and felt like star wars that had a goal/story in mind. But it lacked the heart and spine that the originals did. what felt real emotionally, Star wars was a creative idea at the time, made successful by teamwork trust and creativity, taking many different elements such as flash gordon, ww2 serials, etc. The force to him was just a tool, you could use it for good or evil. same thing with special effects; "special effects are just a tool, a means to tell a story. A movie about special effects without a story would be pretty boring." as Plinkett said; "do some stories really need to be told?" we can at least thank the prequels for the clone wars cartoons and comics branching off of them. despite the aliens, the sci-fi, the fantasy, religious symbolism, the politics and the many worlds to get lost in; at its core it was all about family that drew the audience in. the relationships, the build up, the tension and hardships they went through together. it wasn;t about the space ships or super powers they had, it was about the emotional connection.

Considering that Lucas says the Whills guide through the Force it would not make Anakin less of a Chosen One if Leia was picked to be a new Chosen One. It would mean that Anakin fulfilled his destiny and purpose, and now it would be Leia's turn.

I agree they did a great job with him in TCW & rebels but it's as bad to continuity as lightspeed ramming. Now, we can never be sure someone is really dead. He literally got cut in half by a lightsaber!! This has always and immediately been absolute death, but now we can never be sure. It's not worth that level of shark jumping. I know they handwave it away, but it's not convincing at all. He grew to become a great character, but bad move in the bigger picture.

@@LiftHeavier I also feel like Maul is dead as per the film canon of Episodes 1 to 6 (the only canon which should really count). Getting cut in half by a lightsaber is death. Otherwise, if Maul survives, well then Dooku's head can be attached to a robot body and somehow he lives and sets up the New Confederacy?! I feel that Maul would not have lived and Lucas would have run with Plageuis.

@@darkjediknight2923 People thinking Maul couldn't have survived confuses me, since Anakin survives arguably worse in Revenge of the Sith, plus Maul's an alien, so George could've explained someway that makes sense, also Darth Sion from the Old Republic makes Anakin and Maul look like scrubs when it comes to surviving death, he literally comes back from death over and over due to having such immense rage, he only stays dead when he's convinced to finally rest.

Not without a complete change in writers and directors (or just let Lucas have control). Even leaving aside what respect for the OT cast it lacked, TFA already shot itself in the foot with a nonsensical plot that required huge conveniences and character inconsistencies to even happen at all.

​I think we should go by George's canon and his saga films. As for the Disney sequels, first I do not like that they are not George's story. Especially when he gave them a story to produce. Basically there is zero plot in them. TFA itself also has zero continuity from ROTJ (let alone Episodes 1 to 6 as a whole). Think about when you read a book. If you're reading Chapters 1 to 6, every chapter follows on from the former. It all just flows and you understand what is going on. In this case though, Chapter 7 doesn't make any sense. It doesn't remotely continue from Chapter 6. It doesn't attempt to explain anything whatsoever as to the state of the galaxy, who any of the characters are, their motivations, or why you should care. Any of the characters you already have heard of are twisted versions of themselves which again is unexplained (as well as insulting to the character and former chapters). TFA merely has action without any context. You actually wonder what an Earth the plot is. What is the purpose of the events on screen. In the Skywalker saga, where are the actual Skywalkers? George's saga revolved around them and galactic events. Not random rude people. The dialogue is like 21st century Earth slang in TFA. Without Harrison in it, it barely feels like a Star Wars movie. Leia is relegated to a nobody. Luke is non existent. Unlike in ANH and ROTJ where the Death Star is part of the plot, the Starkiller just materialises "just because". Luke has supposedly left which is unlikely and doesn't turn up to save his friends which as you say is impossible. That would never happen. Who anyone is in this weird galaxy is never explained. And it hardly feels galactic. In Episodes 4 to 6 and 1 to 3, you always get that sense of SCALE. Hell on just ONE planet like Tatooine in ANH, or Naboo in TPM, you really get a feel of an entire world. The Disney sequels though feel small. Rey is rough, coarse and extremely irritating. And again why are we following rude random characters in a family saga?! It's frustrating. And then of course, untrained random people are using the Force having barely heard about it. Let alone besting Luke later on. That would be like telling Jabba the Hutt the words "The Force" and suddenly he can beat Master Yoda in a Force contest. The disrespect for Luke Skywalker is insane. But frankly the entire thing disrespects the entire plot line of Episodes 1 to 6. Nothing makes sense, nothing is explained and what the hell is the plot?! Taking over the galaxy used to be complex and there was a motivation behind it. Training to become a Jedi was a big deal. Can you imagine if Obi Wan told a Jawa in ANH about the Force and that Jawa went on to read Darth Vader's mind and then even beat him in a duel?! The villains also appear to literally be cartoonishly pure evil. Not complex like the Empire or Separatists. And they are also cartoonishly incompetent. TFA feels like a brand new trilogy altogether, not a trilogy meant to be in the saga. Certainly not a sequel. TLJ just broke the trance that TFA put people in. I have not seen TROS as I am scared it will further ruin George's saga for me. They could have easily set up the reason for the "fall" of a young Solo to the dark based on wanting to ensure order, perhaps bearing witness to corruption. Or the seduction by Talon as apparently was envisaged by Lucas, or shown in an EU story (in that case of a young Cade Skywalker). I didn't really like seeing Han die either. And I think if that happened that such a person would be beyond saving. There was insane potential and especially when the creator's vision was given to them. Somehow they did the impossible and found the most incoherent, non imaginative and senseless way to produce unworthy 'sequels' to a beloved and timeless saga. I completely agree that we never saw Luke Skywalker on the movie screen post ROTJ. For me, for now, until we get George's sequels, the saga is Episodes 1 to 6 and there was a happy ending. Luke deserved better. So did Han and Leia. So did fans. And we could have had really interesting and cool new characters - proper Skywalker descendants, proper new Jedi and proper villains. Not rude Rey and her band of rogues!

The problem is Maul himself who was raised and trained as a Sith. Even if he doesn't consider himself a Sith anymore, he is by heritage and nature, a Sith. So his mere existence post ROTJ basically nullifies Anakin forfilling the Prophecy.

Perhaps they could have used Magick alongside the Force.

So sad about that, but I respect George’s decision, I mean everyone has a life they need to live and you can’t spend all your time on one thing, however good it would be.

Agreed. Leia was simply referred to as being "Chosen" as the "one" to run the galaxy after reunification and defeating the would be usurpers to the Empire/galaxy/New Republic. Luke would reestablish the Jedi. Anakin restored balance to the Force. And we'd have had this Whills plot. As for Han, I think had GEORGE done his story, Harrison would have come back for him out of respect. And when he was back, Han will be made to survive as a Grandfather. Leading to a request for Harrison to be a main character in a Star Wars spinoff Father of the Bride haha. I jest. Man do I wish we saw Lucas' sequels.

In the same way that Vader's true identity was kept secret until ESB came out. George always explains his movies within movies. He never requires anyone to read a book, or watch a TV show. So given we saw Maul die in TPM, then unless he was going to produce something ON THE MOVIE SCREEN itself to show us Maul survived and how, I reckon he was more likely seeding in Plageuis in ROTS as the ultimate villain to defeat and that Anakin's children do it with his help.

And with Maul coming back, if he was given the Clone Wars and Rebels treatment and doesn't refer to himself as a Sith ("Once Darth, now only Maul") it would be great, though I do understand that some people who haven't seen the Clone Wars would be a little confused so like you said George would need to explain it clearly and quickly.

Personally I like that they brought Mail back because they really made him into a great character in the show, and obviously this was planned before Rebels was made so as far as in the 2013 world, Darth Maul would indeed be alive feasibly, I like the idea, but I admit I would be a but skeptical as to how that would turn out.

Same I'm not a fan how in Star wars if a character is popular enough he gets resurrected in some way, I loved how in TPM maul no talk and all fight but in tcw he felt so generic

Maul's one of my favourite Star Wars characters thanks to The Clone Wars and Rebels. The way they brought him back was contrived but they made up for it by giving him an actual personality.

The Legacy Comics would make a fantastic show in the vein of GoT mixed with The Mandalorian, but still with Jedi, Sith and Imperial Knights (grey Jedi-like group who served the Light under a good emperor, Roan Fel, descendant of Han and Leia's daughter).

It would have been over his 9 episode saga probably involving Anakin helping his children/grandchildren put the final blow to the dark side once and for all - possibly involving Plageuis given George seeded that into ROTS. The Talon angle sounds like a struggle against crime lords and corruption which most likely would have been along the lines of the type of good versus evil/doing what is necessary theme we saw in the film "Batman Begins" for instance (where Qui Gon Ghul in that case talked about the will to act).

@@darthqui-gon5986 Two legendary characters. Qui Gon should return as a vigilante, or agent of the Whills. Maul would be cool, though I would prefer to see him in stories set before TPM to maintain the current on screen canon of Episodes 1 to 6.

I think Anakin was the Chosen One. He is on record as having said that. I think his interview was misinterpreted where he said that Luke rebuilt the Jedi and Leia was the "Chosen" "one" to lead the galaxy. It wasn't about the Prophecy to restore Balance which Lucas has stated is Anakin on all material right.

Anakin was also cut in half by a lightsaber. Also, by the same Jedi. Sith can survive being decapacitated. This is explained further in KOTOR and KOTOR II. It's not plot convenience its them surviving through hatred itself.

I know this comment is from a year ago: I just finished T.C.W 2008 series, from like Season 4, Darth Maul appeared but I don’t think it affected The Clone Wars, just the crime underworld and Hando’s pirate gang.

I think it would have been Plageuis rather than Maul. George did after all seed him into ROTS.
