Should have been a PW solo record...the label ruined it for us +++ probably killed the band's momentum, whereas, if he would have released it as his first solo record, I believe there would have been at least 1 if not more 'Mats records. Sorry 'acudoula', I don't think that there has ever been a record which Paul has released which could be considered anything but GREAT man. He's the best songwriter of our generation/lives IMO....

the only thing wrong with MerryGoRound is the stubble on Paul's voice. hey Paul we don't want you to hurt yourself. Nobody should have been the release .. too much goop and gopp .. i know.

It don't sound that much different than "Please to meet me"." Don't tell a soul" is the one that has bad production.

The Mats finally got the production they needed to get on the radio with DTAS and ASD, but the material was not very strong. In the end , the gamble was a wash: they lost some of their cult core, and gained few new fans: neither records went anywhere near gold status

I completely agree. When Bill was kicked out, they lost their edge. Their music basically turned into limp dick pop rock. There's a reason Paul's solo career never took off. He wasn't as great as he thought he was.
