Yes, Mick Taylor pitched a little Missy fit at a banquet held just before the Rolling Stones were to tour North America in summer 1975. He strutted out, declaring that he quit. Thought he was leaving the band in a position to be forced to cancel the tour. Instead, Keith looked across the table at his buddy, Ronnie Wood and said, "Are you available to sit in"? Ronnie was free of commitment to Faces for the summer and the group also invited Billy Preston to play keyboards on the tour and the new Rolling Stones were off and running without Mick Taylor. 😅

Ok, so I was born in 58 so I was another one of these "teenager in the 70's" old dudes. I liked the stones because I liked to be different. Everybody in school wore blue jeans, so I wore light blue jeans, that kind of stuff. So the Beatles were the biggest rock band, but I liked the stones. The fact that they're still doing it at this age just makes it that much better. Favorite stones songs? Monkey man, and Can't you hear me knocking.

Back in '76 I was 15. I was a big RS fan then and still am now. Mick is and always will be r&r best front man. Their music from the early 60's to their newest album spans 60+ years. I remember hearing RS music all the way back in the mid 60's when I was just a little kid. As soon as I was old enough I saw them in concert and a few times since. After a tough day at work, I'll pick some tracks off my phone and blast them in my car. It just energizes me. Mick is 80 yrs old and full of energy because he takes care of himself. But people...Keef is an anomaly. That he's still alive is a wonder. Eat right, don't do drugs or guzzle booze.

Don't forget that in this Era of the stones, they were collaborating with Stevie Wonder's guys Billy Preston and Ollie Johnson ( Billy on piano/keys and Ollie on percussion next to Charlie) as seen in this video! For being white dudes coming upnin the austere post WWII England, they could do it all; soul, funk, reggae, country western and of course their bread and butter: r&b)...long live the stones!!!

Some history for those ineterested: Ronnie had just joined the group. "Hey Negrita" (which I still consider a masterpiece) was written by him. Not the lyrics, but the song and riff was all Ronnie. And it swings. He didn't get the writing credits, but that was the price of admission to the Stones I guess. By now, I think we can all agree that without Ronnie, the Rolling Stones wouldn't exist. He was and is the -ever so happy- glue that keeps it all together. And I'm also talking musically. The way he and Keith weave their guitarparts is a thing of beauty.
