It's fun to compare shows to real day to day scenarios and the professional insight is awesome. For the commentors, complaining about the "That would never happen in real life" events, don't lose sight that this is filmed for entertainment and isn't meant to be a docuseries. It's "escapism" at best.

I watched the first episode and I was immediately done. I love Nathan Fillion, but in the first episode he has a hostage taker and shoots him in the leg to take him down without killing him. Literally everything was wrong with that, if a trainee had a hostage scenario and failed to take the headshot when it was available, thus putting the hostage at risk, they would be super fired. A tv depicting a cop doing that is super frustrating because it contributes to the public having unrealistic expectations.

Alright, as for the shootout around 3:40 when they shoot the car door, I do know that LAPD has Ballistic paneled doors that I believe are IIIA rated. So, theoretically it's possible you could have someone fire rifle rounds into your door and still not get hit. To clarify: I know they have ballistic doors, but I am unsure exactly what level. Lady with the AR isn't even aiming down the fucking sights. I was like...that's a dumb set up. Not only is it a short barrel making it worse for range, it is also gonna be much louder than a more longer barrel. Not sure if that's a thermal or a night scope on the AR but damn it was pointless. I work in EMS and even I might say this is much but I got sent on calls out of county not too bad til we got stuck outside the county and held over and got ran non stop and a crew down there got into a accident. Like I said it might be a stretch putting that together but that doesn’t make saying the Q word on shift any better
@JonPL2 ай бұрын
You're talking like rifle silhouette shooting (forgot the /proper/ name) in rapid firefights with no civs doesn't exist. As for the device, during this episode Harper (black woman sporting M4) asks Nolan to get "her" rifle with AN\PVS NV module and funnily enough if you google "Eotech ANPVS" you can see it's either Eotech's own M914 or a mounted AN\PVS-14 NV monocular, even in this particular setup. Why? I guess they've wanted something that looks "tacticool" and more exotic than just a magnifier, simply to emphasize Harper's unique approach due to earlier drug busting work (where actually during night raids or pushing into dark warehouses such optic setup could indeed be a godsend). Thus, it's an interesting detail that doesn't need to be bad. As for using door as cover and treating cruisers like it's some MRAP, others already pointed out why, so again - seems you're wrong.

Also, does LAPD actually run full auto rifles in patrol?? I suppose its plausible, but I highly doubt it. Also, there's absolutely no chance all three would instantly give up just cuz they got yelled at to give up one time. The two guys in the garage woulda been out the back door. Also even if they did give up, why tf would all the officers leave their cover and walk up to them?? Realistically they would have called them all back and detained them and then slowly and methodically cleared the vehicle and structures.

@@Disastronaut17 I stand corrected. Thank you for sharing your wisdom.
