This was one of my favourite paintings in 2022. It meansures 82x97cm.
The underpainting is done with a mix of burnt umber and english red. After drying, the colourlayer was painted over this. In most parts of the painting, especially in the cape and background, the underpainting is shining through and gives the painting a warm light.

Das kommt von der Grundierung. Die ist ist etwas dicker und mit einem Pinsel aufgetragen und das gibt diesen Schraffur Effekt.

Year thanks, had a lot of work. I opened a little gallery to show my artworks and from time to time also from other artists. But I already started new videos that will be here in the next weeks.

Do I mix linseed oil with pigment and then linseed varnish and black oil?

Linseed oil and pigments to get a nice colour and varnish or black oil to thin this colour or/and help it to dry faster.

Hello, I have a question. Is the red ocker on your palette venetian red? And if you purchased the pigment from Kremer Pigment, I would like to know the exact names of the pigments used in the caravaggio copying. Even if it’s the same name, there are various types, so I don‘t know exactly which pigment to buy.😭 Please answer me. ☺

Hi, for the imprimitura I took light oxide red from an old tube from Talens Amsterdam. The underpainting is done with burnt umber (40710 Kremer). Venetian red I also have but don't use often.

I’m so desperate. 🥹And is it possible to add walnut oil and linseed oil to slow the drying late of black oil? I think you’ve put so much effort into it. It’s not easy to study the techniques of a old master. I respect you. And please post the video, too. 😭😭 I’m a 19-year-old student who dropped out of school and is crazy about classical oil painting and old master techniques. Your video is very helpful. Burnt umber is for the first layer in most of my paintings. I like the paint to be dry the next day so I take black oil or linseed oil varnish.

Linseed oil, sometimes walnut oil. But it must be filtered to remove all impurities.

@@user-qm4cm6wv1w Yes, but it takes time. Better is to buy at art supply shop. Its still filtered and ready to use. In some weeks I´ll do a video of how to filter on my Patreon.

Do you sell filtered linseed oil to the kremer pigment? I think I've only seen cold pressed linseed oil.I would appreciate it if you could let me know if I can use cold pressed linseed oil when making paint,Will the paint turn yellow if it's not filtered??

@@user-qm4cm6wv1w You can take 73300 or 73500. The others are not filtered. It doesn't matter so much by taken it for dark tones or for mixing in your gesso/ground. But for light and bright colours use the two ones up.
