9 Months Ago we purchased our dream machine and haven't posted about it since. In this video we reveal the truth about what happened to our sawmill. Join us on this exciting journey as we bring our abandoned dream machine, the sawmill, back to life! Nine months ago, we bought this incredible sawmill and spent an entire weekend assembling it with minimal hiccups. Life, however, had other plans, and our sawmill lay hidden beneath overgrown weeds all summer. It's embarrassing, we know! In this video, we're uncovering and cleaning up our neglected sawmill, restoring it to its former glory, and relocating it to a better spot on our property.

Build a structure to cover the saw mill. That’s to nice to be in the rain. And you can make it tall enough for tractor to load logs. That would be a great timber frame project

Lots of hard work, its looking good. Something I learned on another channel. They had their sawmill set up on the ground, and had it levelled. They found with each log they dropped onto the mill, it caused the feet to shift into the dirt, so after a while, the boards they were cutting where not exactly square. So check the levellnes of you mill after so many logs. Just sharing what I found. Especially if you are cutting for someone else on a job.

We put the feet on pavers and that seems to help with this a lot. Hopefully we will have a permeant spot for it one day with a slab to put it on.

I agree with @asbrand. Start with something small and simple, like a lean-to shed for your storage container (for maybe tractor/equipment shed), and then move on to bigger and better projects (like a timber frame barn/woodshop/storage shed) Hope that helps

I want to see you lay a concrete slab for your awesome sawmill! 😉 Lots of work up-front but less work going forward. That stump grinder is a beast! Someone mentioned a lean-to. You could build a lean-to off the container that extends (cantilevers) over your 'concrete' bedded sawmill 😉 If it were me, I would find it quite nice to have something over my head providing shade on a hot sunny day sawmilling! All the very best to you both in all you do!
@Woodbrew
@Woodbrew 10 ай бұрын
Yes to all this, but just need to find the permeant spot first. The stump grinder exceeds expectations, but still does take a while to do a large stump.

Hola! 🖐I hope you are both doing well. That machine started right up after being dormant for a while, that is an awesome endorsement of that mill. That lumber looks awesome too, can't wait to see what you transform them into. Take care and have a good one, Adios!👊
@scottmorris4914

So, if you are spreading out the sawdust, and you want to stack cut lumber there, remember termites and carpenter ants. Maybe have it treated for termites. Or stack them in the container. Take a look at “This off grid house”, they do a bunch of stuff with their saw mill.
@Woodbrew
@Woodbrew 10 ай бұрын
I thought about the container, but I don't think they'd ever dry in there without some modification to add ample air flow. I pretty sure all that wet wood in there would just make it a steam sauna.

I have a sea container just like yours and I want to build an open-air lean-to shed for my motorized equipment. Have you considered such a project? If you cut a lot of lumber, you will need a covered area to store it under and a lean-to shed would be the ticket. Please consider it, and I'll be watching.

Gonna have to figure out how to keep the weeds from growing back under the mill. Maybe have to pour a slab for it to sit on, meaning you will have to find a permanent place you are satisfied with, for it, if you don't want to use weed killer all the time.
@Woodbrew
@Woodbrew 10 ай бұрын
Yea we haven’t found that permanent spot yet. Probably will just put packed gravel under it once we do.
@johnaddis1022
@johnaddis1022 10 ай бұрын
What ever you decide to put down gravel or concrete be sure to put underlayment fabric gravel tends to sink into the ground and the ground will suck the moisture from concrete and cause it to crack then weeds and sometimes trees come up through it. When you build your shelters make them twice as big as you need now you wont regret it. John from N East GA@@Woodbrew
