The fact you have enough self-reflection to think and worry about ending up like the guy in the video is enough to not end up like him. I am 28 and not married and single. Am I happy about it? No... Do I sometimes feel like a failure because of it? Yes... But I am doing fine in all other aspects of my life. My self-confidence is just so low I've never been able to ask women out on a date. I will pay a huge price for this eventually. End up lonely and die alone. But I am still well educated, independent, with a solid career and do my best to behave kindly and positively towards others. Anyway I hope you will all find partners eventually and achieve everything you wish in life!

Then my slide came up. It was all about me being single. 'Is he preparing to be a monk or something?', suggesting I was still a virgin, which I was not. Even his friends, who I also know, looked at each other, like this isn't very nice. My brother laughed though. And we wouldn't come to my 40th birthday party with MY friends. He doesn't want to know them. A long time friend of mine told my brother (to thank him) that he was inspired by artists he discovered and he later found out about through me. My brother didn't even reply, giving the look of who the F*** are you.

There's a lot that can be said on the subject, but the short version is that marriage truly is overrated for the most part, and it's "not all that it's cracked up to be". Why do you think that about 50% of marriages end in divorce, and most romantic relationships that people get into fail? How many of those people in legally intact marriages are genuinely "happily married" instead of just tolerating each other? It makes me think of those "vows of love" as meaningless, especially when I think of my relatives who've been married multiple times.

It's funny because he's the absolute opposite of someone I know who's in a similar situation because unfortunately he can't live alone due to a disability: the guy is super positive, supporting, funny, smart, he's a wonderful person that everyone adores and the end result is that sis personality and attitude completely overshadow the troubles he's going through. It's fascinating how two people in very similar situations can have such a different impact on their environment.

I actually once knew a guy just like Clive: He was the older brother of one of my friends who never achieved anything with his life, never moved out and lived off his parents well into his 30s while treating them like shit. He would always make the situation very uncomfortable around everyone around him. Why his parents always put up with his bullshit, I never understood… but they did and he never changed. It’s been a while since I’ve seen him, but I can only imagine that he hasn’t evolved one bit but remained the same loser he’s always been…
