I saw this in theaters with my two best friends. We were teenagers and wanted a dumb movie to watch and be little delinquents. We liked to pick movies that had been out for a while so we'd have the whole theater to ourselves and Walter Mitty was the only one that night. We were loud and rowdy through the commercials and the previews. But then the movie started and we didn't make a sound until it was over. We still look back on that day and how weird it was that such a random movie could capture our attention like that. To echo the video, I can't tell you what I felt that day, all I remember is that I really felt.

Its also important to note that Sean Penn's character. Always acknowledged Walter. The phrase "beautiful things don't ask for attention" applies directly to Walter. Despite Walter feeling depressed about his life. Sean admired him.

This movie changed my life too. A man that thought he was boring and irrelevant until he is forced to realize how amazing he truly is. Walter Mitty is all of us.

I watch this movie at least once a month. It's so tranquil in the beginning, so it kills me to sleep if I can't. Plus, the soundtrack is amazing.

I watched this movie with my 14 year old son when it first came out. We both loved it, but he was inspired by it to be who he wanted to be. To be an artist, to climb, to bushwalk, to dive on wrecks, to skydive and to live a life of experiences. He brought kindness and wholesomeness to those he met and would find out about other people's experiences at every opportunity. He used the soundtrack of Mitty in his own movies. When he died a few years ago it meant he had lived more life and more adventure than many many other people combined. And he loved every moment because of the spark that this movie ignited.

Sanchito- this could be a pHD in film. You nailed it. I am 60 now but felt the same as you at 50. Major Tom with Kristin and Sean Penn saying “sometimes I keep it just for me” are sublime. But like you I was changed. My life took hard corners about 4 years ago - So I became Walter Mitty. 150k mile around the entire US including Canada and Hawaii and Alaska, Mexico, and The UK and all of Scotland. I simply dreamed and went. I am now happy just like Walter.

I walked out of the theater transported by this movie. I've been to Iceland three times since seeing it, in 2021 I even photographed a volcano in Iceland (but I wasn't standing atop a biplane). I've watched it over and over. I love the message of the movie: if you have the courage to go out into the world, the world will be waiting to welcome you.

you're so right! you're a different person practically every day of your life, but somehow those persons you used to be always stay with you. maybe it's things like movies and books sticking with you that keep you connected to your past selves, and maybe that's why it's important to revisit them from time to time. not only to keep in touch with your past, but in an attempt to make some direct growth from that past. revisiting something old that you're emotionally attached to is always scary, but if you can approach it properly, i believe you can grow from it

I was 61 in 2014. I saw this movie (I also saw the original with Danny Kaye in) and was blown away. One of my favourite films ever. I had to have some surgery done. I woke up in post op and realised I'd done nothing with my life, so I raked up every cent I could and travelled for the whole of 2015. I'm not wealthy, I found cheap ways to get places, used local transport, discovered ways to make a few $s on the net. Best thing I've ever done, will never regret it. Thank you, Ben Stiller.

I watched it yesterday and it was one of the best movies I've watched this year, i can't believe it came out 10 years ago and I only found it yesterday. It sends a beautiful message and a cinematic masterpiece imo.

This movie was completed different than the book or original movie. However saying that, it is perhaps the most spiritually uplifting and fulfilling movie about self development and meaning. It has something most movies do not, a soul, and a real, universal message.

After re-watching I think this is my favourite movie, all the scenes just feel great.

Yeah man, welcome to the brotherhood. This movie has changed many lives. Many people i've met who recall it state the same. It truly is a spiritual piece of artwork. Just incredible. Purely one of my favorites. As a kid, the movie speaks to your sense of wonder, desire to explore, and creativity. It fills you with feel good wonder. As an adult, it speaks to the soul who desires freedom, meaning, and inspiration.

Something about this movie made it so amazing for me. I love the shots the acting but most importantly I love the feel, the emotion put into this work that make every scene a memeorable one, that can make you cry, laugh and frown at the same time. The idea of a whole transformation of a man unneeding of attention is so casually beautiful. This movie may not have the best actors in the world or the most money for a movie but this is hands down my favorite movie.

I watched this movie when I was 11 years old in theater. I thought it was boring. I watched this movie about a year ago and I LOVE IT NOW. Now that I’m older I can really connect with it.

When you are young this movie teaches you that everyone older has a past. When you are older it teaches you that there is still time to create fantastic memories. I randomly saw this movie knowing nothing about it, not even sure I ever saw a trailer for it in fact. I have watched it many times and it fits into this tiny little folder of movies that are essentially "road trip" movies but they are done in such a beautiful way that they always leave you thinking about the next adventure to embark upon. I only have 4 or 5 movies that do this for me, but Walter Mitty is definitely at the top of that short list.

This movie made me happy cry. Like in ugly happy cry. The part with the snow leopard photo. The very first time I saw the movie while they were looking at the snow leopard through the camera, I said "Dont take a photo! Enjoy the moment!" Boom the photographer said it a second later in his own words. Tears!

This movie was and is a masterpiece. I watched it for the first time at a staff movie night while working at a summer camp. It was about 50/50 guys and girls and there wasn’t a dry eye in the entire group. Not because it’s sad, but because it just makes you feel so deeply compared to so many other movies with the same message.

This movie resonated with me deeply in a very personal way when I saw it when it was in the theater. I was close to 50 years-old when it came out. I could very much identify with Stiller's character in the film. I'm often haunted by the thought of what my life would have been like if I weren't someone who "played it safe" and tend to be very averse to taking chances. Be it in my personal or professional live. I also tend to undersell myself and tend to think too much about what others may think of me. Though these attitudes have given me a pretty good life, I wonder about what might things be like if I weren't so afraid of taking chances or being more aggressive in the professional world. I know that a lot of people panned this film. I think it's mainly people that cannot identify with the "Mitty" in this re-shaping of the Thurber classic. However, when I watch the first half of the movie, I look at Mitty on the screen and can only think "OMG, it's me!!!"

Every now and then i get asked what my favorite movie is and more often than not this movie jumps to the front of my mind. I don't even think it became my favorite until years after i saw it. I have got to rewatch this.

When I first saw it, I told a number of people about it, and I don't think they experience what I (and we) do with this film. It's powerful despite its subtlety. I'm not even usually a drama guy, but this movie transcended genre and completely immersed me. Bravo and a huge thank you to the cast and crew, and to the producers for taking a risk on it.

this was the first movie I saw in a theatre alone without any friends with me. It kind of became a formative experience for me. I did not think of it that much then but it kinda feels that I started becoming my one person after this movie.

I was 34 when this film came out and I connected with it, and I still connect with it. Everything is "underrated" these days - so I'm playing my underrated card for this film.

So glad someone is giving this movie some love and credit, I hear so many people rag on it and its genuinely one of my favorite films. It's got its simplistic or perhaps 'cheap' moments but as a whole work I find it incredibly impactful and phenomenally well done. A near perfect film.

This is my favorite movie of all time. I remember when I watched it for the first time years ago when I get an DVD right after premiere. It was beautiful. I used to daydream often just like Mitty does, so it was reliatable for me, especialy back then. Now years later, I come backt to this movie for like 5 times a year. It shaped me as a person who seek for adventures in real life, can't stay in one place for long time, because there is so much to see in this world! That movie inspires me every time. I watched it yesterday and i was scared how will this movie affect me this time, because soo much changed in my life in the past months... and I changed - And you know what? I I couldn't take my look away! I loved every second of this movie just like the old times. But, im a bit different person now, and I enjoyed it noticeably different. And that's perfectly ok - this is true magic of "The secret life od Walter Mitty" it affects so many pepole in so many ways! It inspires us to do so many beautiful things! And every time you play it, you still can find something new for yourself.

This film will always be one of my favourites. Every time I watch it, I burst into tears multiple times - even right at the beginning because I'll be thinking ahead to the scenes that have an impact on me - and am so excited and overwhelmed with joy when those incredible scenes show up. And this movie is RIDDLED with the most impactful, memorable and highly anticipated scenes I truly think I'll ever find in media. The build up to them is always incredible, and I'm overcome with emotion whenever they arrive and I get to watch them again. What a genuine masterpiece.

I'm 46 and I saw this movie for the first time about 3 or 4 days ago. It's probably one of my favorite movies now and it's definitely my favorite Ben Stiller movie. It's a real piece of art and the messages are beautiful.

Great video. My family and I love this movie and I agree, the biggest reason why is how it makes you feel. I connect with different feelings now versus when the movie comes out. For example: the burden of responsibility Walter feels to take care of finances for his mother, the guilt of having to sell the piano, and the freedom when she tells him its ok. The mom continually tries to show how it is the experiences and the people you share them with that matter.

Just rewatched this movie the other night for the first time since being a kid too. This video captures how I felt rewatching so well. Well done

Brilliant movie indeed. What's great about this film is that it took the concept of the original from the 40s but made it its own entirely. The characters are similar but the adventures they embark in couldn't be more different. That's a remake done right if there was ever one.

Really well done analysis and perspective... This is one of my favorite films as well. It was a feel good experience and I never really dove into the reasons why.

I work in film and on my latest set, we got on the topic of “perfect movies.” I was impressed how none of us could agree on anything except that Walter Mitty was a perfect B+/A- movie if that makes any sense. It has flaws but what it does well, it does masterfully.

I love that this movie brings us all together, people finding ourselves, and each other, feeling this from this film, our own purposes in life. I saw this movie coming home from my own helicopter moment - moved across the world out of nowhere, after years of being a day dreamer. I remember by the time Wake Up started to play I was crying with fulfilled joy watching this daydreamer who was so much like me, and knowing I never wanted to waste another moment thinking about everything I wanted to accomplish, without taking action. I don't know any of you, but you all saw what I did in this movie, so I love every one of you, and you're all doing great just being alive, doing whatever you're doing, and if our paths ever cross, Cinnabon is on me ❤
