That's a great point you make - simple, but effective. Goalkeeper is easily one of the most criticized position on the field because of the flow of the game. Everyone can answer "Why did the goal go in the net?" when they have had time to think (ball goes in, team has to carry it back to halffield, parents/fans argue amongst themselves) - that's when you have all the time in the world to answer the question. Put them through a session to make 100 saves, and the time for thinking shortens (like when you ask multiple math problems at once). Cheers.

I’m learning to be a goal keeper coach. U11’s. This is a great analogy, that I will pass on to my boys. I have a lad who takes it very seriously, he’s got great natural talent, but… if a striker scores a goal past him or he makes a mistake, he takes it very personally and he gets upset, and sometimes his head goes down, and it disrupts his focus. This is one good simple way I can get him to start thinking about things. Thanks.

Peter Bonetti goalkeeping school early 1970's,I took goalkeeping in subconsciously/unconsciously,and never found it difficult,was working on auto pilot in goal,played a good standard in youth football,Surrey cup wins,played Sutton united youth team,played in the FA youth cup,had all the natural ability but no determination to go pro,although I was invited to 3 pro clubs,54 now only when ex team mates tell me how good I was and the confidence that had in me,learned my trade on ashes at Battersea park,It great that there is goalkeeping schools to teach the Art of a True keeper,you are the last line of defence in that battle on the field,a hero or anti hero in a second,if you love being between the goalposts it will love you back,i think i could catch a ball quite cleanly.
