The one I was very surprised about was Monster World IV. Played it six hours straight the first night, kept at it for a week until I beat it, and that overworld theme got stuck in my head for so much longer afterwards. The ones I was very happy to see were Alisia Dragoon - my favorite on the system - and Strider - always great to come back to. The one I could do without was Alex Kidd. It's like Nintendo's strange fascination with constantly bringing back Urban Champion. Just let it die already.

Honestly I am so glad I got this for Christmas. I have such a deep connection with Sega Genesis for most of my life.

I like where you placed bloodlines. My favourite game ever.

I don't think Streets of rage 3 was a step backwards, at least not the Japanese version anyway. It was ruined by regional visual differences, censorship and altered difficulty level in Europe and America. The Japanese version Bear knuckle 3 is awesome, at least as good as SOR2 in my opinion.

I don't understand why everyone craps on Virtua Fighter 2 for Genesis. Well I guess I do understand it's because they're comparing it to the 3D graphics it was converted from, however judging it solely as a 2d fighting game it's really amazing. Fast paced, plenty of Combos and play styles, perfect for multiplayer and beating single without a continues on harder modes is it's own challenge. Plus you can adjust settings to infinite time and health so ring outs only. Overall it's a fantastic game on it's own merit.

Those red enemies from Monster World 4 kinda look like the red slime's from Dragon Quest.

I remember when they were comparing Vectorman to DKC. I didn't agree with that comparison since Vectorman seems more sparse and sterile, where DKC has a lot more personality. The segmented abstract characters also were hard to compare to the frame by frame animation of DKC as well. I don't favor either game, Vectorman is punishing and I didn't make much progress in it. Good thing it was a rental. DKC's platforming doesn't feel that great to me. It's more of a rigorous obstacle course to test your mastery and reflexes than the thoughtful design of a Mario level. There are a lot of secrets but then that's just a demonstration of Rare's collectathon obsession. Aw, I can't believe you like Darius better than Sagaia! Darius is a boss rush, Sagaia has a lot of substance in addition. I enjoyed getting to know the various enemy patterns and training myself to react to the different situations presented in each level. Plus they had very nice backgrounds, some of them would have sections where the screen suddenly scrolls vertically and you'd go down underwater, or deeper into the enemy base. There was a lot of attention and love put into that conversion and I prefer it over the arcade which seemed much more unfair.

I wouldn't have put these games in exactly the same order as you, but we have nearly the same tastes in what the good ones and the lesser good ones. I really love Gunstar Heroes, but it is not my favorite Treasure game. It is really a fantastic games but the grappling from the ennemies break the rythm. For this reason I prefer Contra Hard Corps. Alien Soldier is my favorite Treasure game on the megadrive, it is so crazy, but it is not on the mini, too bad... And I can't say my favorite Treasure game on all console, they have made so many incredible games...

I never played any virtua fighter games at all untill playing it on this mini and i have admit i kinda like it its slow so you have to really wait and time your attacks which is fun for me especially playing 2 players. Maybe if i played it on other systems first i wouldn't like it but given the fact i haven't and am just looking at it in terms of a Sega fighting game i thinks its pretty fun i pretty much put it off and was one of the last games i tried on the mini because everyone i seen talk about it says it sucks so bad but im glad i tried it

I agree what you said about Sonic Spinball. It's an okay game but still feels like it was slapped together just to have a new Sonic game for the Genesis for the 1993 holiday season as Sonic 3 wouldn't be ready in time.

A respectable list, I don't agree with every placement (I guess I'm the only person who actually likes Sonic Spinball) but still this is a hell of a lot better than that TripleJump abortion. I mean so is every other Genesis Mini ranking video on KZfaq by default, to be fair.

I like your list except for your ranking of puyo puyo (I call it puyo puyo) which I believe should be way higher on the list and your ranking of contra. Contra hard corps is better than every other game on the genesis people just suck at the game and they decided to call it hard as an excuse. The level designs, the branching paths, which lead to multiple levels, the different endings, the 4 different characters to choose from each with their own set of weapons, the music, graphics are unlike any game on the genesis and unlike any contra game ever made.

I will take double jump on Super G&G than G&G shoot upward.

Perhaps when you haven't played a game you shouldn't rank it higher than another game that is actually good but you didn't like so much at the time. Light Crusader should basically sit all the way down with Virtua Fighter 2. It's not because it's Treasure it's any good.
