Both are nice but I went for a marathon gsar. Absolutely no regret but I may get the black and gold baby eventually. Btw the marathon is like the baby tuna, super comfortable for no specific reasons.

No bad choice there. I bought a SRP499 preowned and absolutely love it. Since I have skinny wrists, I think it was the better choice for me. The price was much more manageable for me as well. I almost feel bad for talking the seller down to $220.00. He has worn it once or twice and it really was in mint condition! Great comparison!

I have the Tuna 031 and find the stock bracelet cuts into my wrist. I took it off and put on an Endmill. Much more comfortable.

What are your thoughts between the baby tuna and the sumo?🤔 I was originally looking at the steinhart ocean 1 but then reviewed the seiko sumo and fell in love with it...from reviews I've seen. srp641 at first was going under 300 when released on grey market.ive have srp637 srp639 on strapcode oyster marinemaster clasp awesome watch and a sawtooth,i would love to buy a 641 and do a swap with 639 and swap the gold parts over and have 2 franken watches the silver with the gold would look nice.

I love them both. Quartz is fine with me. Seiko IS quartz! But the baby tuna is just a little "prettier". Ths brushed black with gold accents and the raised gold framed lumed number index markers is a super nice touch. Now if the word Seiko was raised and gold outlined! Are you listening Seiko? ;)

Ma786sai dua the recent 2019 SBDY055 with sunray blue dial is lovely truly. And the frost ice dialled Baby JDM SBDY53 equally beautiful. I got the first along with 2 third Generation Monsters a Jade SZSC005 and the blue Coral Reef SBDC067.

Steeldive sd1975 bridges the gap between the two. It's a 300 meter big tuna with an NH35 movement. I'm very happy with mine.

The baby tuna seems to have some similarities to the samurai. Same hands, same applies markers, same movement I think. Clearly the case is different. How would you evaluate it against the Samurai?

Is there a reason why the lume is on the opposite end of the seconds hand? I'm not too familiar on that functionality as it seems counter intuitive to be on the opposite side

I wear the 637 and the 639 (black bezel) because they've got 90% of the cool, at 25% of the price. And they look MUCH better than the current tunas with black/blue/white cans on them.

The Seiko Big Tuna and Baby Tuna are beautiful piece of craftsmanship. I like the Big Tuna better. I wish the Big Tuna had an automatic movement like the Rolex Sea Dwweller but he quartz movement is ok.

Must say my favourite "baby" is the SNE497P1 with a stainless steel shroud (when on a bracelet or the black shroud with an olive green nato) the dial is more reminiscent of the Tuna proper and that is has a solar powered Quartz is a real bonus. Unfortunately because of the now customary Seiko sloppiness, the seconds hand fails to hit the markers although I was lucky enough to get one where the bezel lines up. Would it have killed them to put a dome of sapphire in it? It did come in a fantastic oversized case tho', in graphite carbon fibre with a piano lacquer finish, it's really something (I'd have preferred the seconds hand to hit the markers and a regular box tho') Such a shame that Seiko have let their standards slide in the entry/mid level tiers of the market, still they had some heady times back in the day.

Awesome. But you should compare the real and og/aniversary tunas, the emperors. The quartz rides their coat tails.

I would choose the big tuna over these two. Of course I like the baby tuna but the big tuna has something that attracts me. I don't mind being quartz in fact I kind of like it!!!

Love the look and specs of the big tuna. The fact that it's a quartz is not a big deal...you just gotta change the battery occasionally, besides quartz movement's are a bit more accurate than automatics if I understand things correctly. Personally I think I'd probably get the baby tuna as my wrist is not as big as yours...but definitely like the look of the big tuna better (and the baby is closer to my price point). My opinion and you know what they say about opinions...they're like assholes, everybody has one.

Big Tuna quartz second hand actually indexes with chapter ring! What!!? Every now and then ..🙏 SRP637 was $300-$400 three years ago? Holy 🚬! Now $845 on Amazon! 🤕

One thing to note, I bought an after market bracelet for my Tuna, but it doesn't fit due to the limited space between the lugs and the shroud. If you're committed to a bracelet you may have to get the Seiko one or else experiment with different models.

After owning a Baby Tuna and an Automatic Seiko Field Watch did I realize something. A quartz watch does a better job at telling time than an automatic watch. The only thing more superior at timekeeping is a Spring Drive Seiko. Which is also a quartz watch but without the need of a battery.
